  1. The dummies are slowly, quietly conceding. Just like they did with gay marriage and marijuana and civil rights. None of them will admit they were reckless dumbfucks who fought like hell to preserve disease and death in the face of overwhelming factual evidence of their stupidity. They’ll just quietly slink over to the right side of history, never acknowledging the misery caused by their delay. And they’ll do it again on whatever the next dumb wedge issue is. They’ll be wrong, and belligerently so. They’ll stymie progress and cast votes for psychopaths who pander to a wrong-headed position that they believe so strongly at the time, but will inevitably quietly abandon when enough of their fellow travelers in stupidity jump ship. They’ll generally fuck things up and create problems that grown-ups will spend generations unfucking, all in the service of some god damned nitwit bullshit that gets them all riled up until they finally catch up to the rest of the class and experience a fleeting moment of self-realization before moving on to the next dumb line in the sand. Dumb America’s unceasing war against reason is exhausting.

  3. All I know is this: When Casey Thompson willed himself in for the TD against 3-4 Arkansas defenders towards the end I thought “ok, that’s it. He should start.” That energy and grit and determination will spill over to the rest of the team. All he does is get points.

  6. I don’t care what color your skin is. That’s a bullshit red herring. If you’ve chosen to go unvaccinated you’ve chosen the path of anti-science. You’ve actively chosen to spread the disease and you should be shamed for it. They shouldn’t be treated at the hospital, the should be bussed to empty warehouses, parking garages, and tent cities where they are given whatever care that can be given that won’t additionally stress the health care system and the should be billed directly for it. Fuck em.

  10. I mean, if you’re a selfish asshole who only worries and cares about themselves. I’m vaxxed, so I’m protected from severe illness and death. But I can still catch COVID. And if the preliminary studies are correct, I should be less contagious if I do, but I’m not protected from infecting someone else. Like my 6 year old nephew. Or my friend with breast cancer. Or my 97 year old great grandmother - who is vaxxed but breakthrough cases are still very hard on that cohort. And as much schadenfreude as I get from the assholes who push this nonsense catching and dying from COVID, I don’t particularly want to be the person that infects one of their dumbass marks and kills them. So, yeah, I worry about other people. My compassion still exists despite all evidence slapping me in the face that that compassion isn’t returned by 35% of my fellow Americans. But I won’t let that be beaten out of me. Then I’m no better than them.

  12. For conference play I have arranged for a pretty bitchin' on campus tailgate spot about a 5 minute walk from the stadium. Will have TV + Tons of Beer (top rep post beer or liquor selection gets included). Also anyone want any food in particular? I'm thinking breakfast taco bar, but am open to suggestions as well. We have the spot from 8AM till 2 hours after the game. We will be in a smaller 10 x 20 setup this week to feel things out, if we have enough people how I will be upgrading to a 20x20 for the rest of the season and if we finish the season strong I'll get 2 20x20's for next season. Burnt Ends Gear will be for sale in the online store for pickup at the game, or for cash purchase. We have 85 shirts unisex dri-fits S through XL and 15 womens dri-fit tanks S and M. Womens tanks require picture in tank top for proof of purchase + future marketing pictures, face not required - side boob strongly encouraged. Come early, tell your friends and have fun. I'll be headed to the game around 10:30, but all are welcome to stay and watch the game from the tailgate and finish off the booze/food.

  13. It’s exactly how Saban handles things. “We need to worry about the things we can control and work on the things we need to do to win the game” Who cares what they say to the press? Coaching wins, not press conferences

  14. the craziest (or maybe the most recent so it is just in my mind) example of this that has legitimately blown my mind is the flip flop on the iraq and afghanistan wars. along with the 2000 elections insanity, the polarization of society really started ramp up then. i was legitimately threatened numerous times on top of being just generally accused of unpatriotic, hate the troops bullshit back in 2002 - 2004 when objecting to the american asian adventurism that suddenly became the zeitgeist at the time. the bloodlust after 9/11 was enough to make any objectors to afghanistan a seriously irrelevant minority but there were enough of us in the lead up to iraq, that it became politically inflamed and was really the beginning of the fox crowd going insane. republicans were since trump, these people would have you believe that it was the liberals that ran us into that war guns ablazin'. it is utterly fascinating. and yes, i am fully aware that many prominent democrats voted and advocated for both invasions but they were not driving the bus at the time and did not have control. wolfowitz, rumsfeld, cheney, and the rest of the gang drove that whole thing and the objectors were dismissed as traitors, unpatriotic, hate the troops, why don't you wear the yellow ribbon, etc... now they act like they were a bunch of objecting isolationists the whole time...and as someone who was relentlessly attacked for dissent, that has been utterly fascinating.

  16. Except minority (both black and hispanic) vaccination rates are steadily increasing -- increased access and availability and outreach have all helped. The bulk of vaccine RESISTANCE -- "I will never ever ever ever get the shot" resides in one demographic. But to be clear, I don't CARE what your demographic is if you are a member of that group. White MAGA, hispanic, black, I don't care. If you have chosen to tell society to get fucked because your individual personal choice is paramount, then live with the consequences of that choice as an individual, and do not impose ANY cost on the rest of society. Die at home. Alone. We have a literally deadly pandemic of toxic individuality. I wish that it only harmed its practitioners. But as kids go into sepsis because they can't get a bed for appendicitis, as veterans die because they can't get a bed for an easily treatable condition, the INDIVIDUAL choices are harming OTHER PEOPLE. So, fuck the individuals. I show them the same utter contempt and lack of compassion that they have demonstrated that they believe is the American ideal. I am all-in on their super-duper-freedom vision of America. And I think they should die the way they lived -- alone, with nobody giving a shit about anyone else, including them.

  17. I'm not just rooting for the virus. I'm rooting for it to evolve in one particular way: if you are an unvaxxed adult, the lethality rate skyrockets. If you are a vaccinated adult, if you even get infected it only causes you to sneeze one time. And if you are a child, it doesn't affect you at all. We live in the dumbest place in the dumbest timeline in the Republic of Dumbassistan in the capital city of Idiotopolis.

  18. There is so much wrong with our wildly varying sentencing standards and the absolute horror of our prisons. Twenty-six years is a long time to put anybody in prison. Even with parole, what? The black convict will be nearly 40 when he gets out? Then what do you have? That brings us so the issue of our prisons. We use prison pretty much for punishment and little else. That's the policy. The reality is that we put prisoners in overcrowded, dangerous hell-holes which we like to crack wise about the hilarious likelihood of prison rape. What does that say about us? We're gettin' tough on crime because we're really tough guys here in the US? No. It says we are wantonly cruel and proudly uncaring. It also says we like to burn money on the prison system instead of investing in efforts to head off criminality (merely keeping kids in high school can do that) or giving people some sort of hope for a decent life after they've done their time. The white guy will have less damaging time behind bars. He'll still be young when he gets out. Maybe he won't remain a criminal. The black man will emerge in middle age with no skills and the scarring of walking through 20 years of that amusing little inferno we call American prison. Hee hee hee! Don't forget the soap on a rope! Hee hee hee! Brisket hit it on the head. Cruelty is our brand.

  19. After a quick google search, it seems the white guy's offense was a drug deal and he testified against his co-defendants. Here is a quote from sentencing: [Legleitner] was more than cooperative with us in his pre-trial, his deposition, provided truthful statements at trial … Mr. Legleitner understands the seriousness of the crime and the severity of the situation that he got himself into. He…was the last to join this party, if you will. He is…the least culpable of the entire group. He knows he should have left the situation. He knows he should have not partook [sic] anything. He did not touch anybody. He did not hurt anybody. And I think that is important for Your Honor to understand that without his assistance we would not [have] been able to get secure convictions, get past a judgment of acquittal, and certainly not to get to the real bad guys here. So … I would agree that based on what I just represented to you that he qualifies for a downward departure, I would have no good faith basis to object to a downward departure … Then, it appears the black guy robbed a gas station and a pizza hut at gunpoint so a "crime against the public" and did it while driving around a 2 year old and 5 year old in the car with him. So with that background this isn't as surprising. So like every other political based meme, no matter the slant, shockingly this one doesn't tell all the facts. But I'm sure managed to rile a bunch of people up.

  24. Early on in the pandemic I mourned the loss of a close friend who died after a month on a ventilator. Once the vaccines became widely available, I'm done mourning the dead and dying who refused the vax. Fuck em. I'll feel sorry for their family in the way I feel bad seeing starving kids halfway across the world. Shit happens, sometimes bad shit to good people. I am saving my sympathy for the people with young kids and vulnerable elderly as they can't get back to normal yet. Fucking asshole motherfucker antivaxers need to get singed in a fire.

  27. You don't go into a press conference every week saying how much the other team hates you and will give you their best so stop bitching about it. It's week 4 of a new coach. Let the man do his job the way he see's fit. I personally like the way he handles himself in these press conferences. He doesn't look befuddled (Strong) or scared and nervous/defensive like turtle Tom. He seems professional and organized unlike the local media buffoons.
