The guy who told Jones that bullshit is the father of a player who will not be on the team next year, both the father and the kid know this. This is a player who has been competing with a player of the opposite race for playing time, especially in the last few games. The father has not historically been a fan of Texas until his kid played here. I will be very happy to see both of them gone from the program. This player has been vocal in the locker room about transferring if he doesnt keep the starting job. Donors had inquired why the guy this player is competing against hasnt been getting a shot, but only in a curious way, not in a "we want this to happen" way. The idea that the inquiry was about race or that race was referenced in conjunction with ANYONE demanding that the coaches make certain personnel decisions is completely ridiculous. I dont doubt that Brian Jones was told what he reported, but I cannot believe he went public with it like he did considering its the word of a disgruntled parent whose son has had a tough year. If I'm Sark, I'd be done with Jones in a big way.24 points

As the guy who recorded that podcast I can confirm it was NOT racial. It was in regards to favoritism and the best players not playing but there was zero racial undertones to it nor has their been any racial undertones in any conversation I have had with him or another player since18 points

Charles Thompson is a fucking sooner moron. Even last year, he was spouting to Chip that Casey was better than Sam but just wasn’t getting opportunities from the staff. All year, he’s been running his mouth to the media. Casey, I’m happy you waited for your chance, but you can fuck right off too with your wishy washy attitude about transferring. This kid has had one foot out the door and the only reason he hasn’t transferred is because no school of Texas’s caliber is giving him a chance bc he simply is not very good. Casey was a recruit that basically got most of his offers due to the 7 on 7 team he played on. He was close with some good recruits and teams thought he may influence some of those guys to play together. Ou didn’t even as much offer him a walk on spot with his dad and brother being players there. Casey’s next best option after Texas was UNC. We took Cameron Rising after Casey committed bc even our coaches knew he was a project. He tried to transfer after his first year but no decent school was offering him a spot. I’d be surprised any power 5 school offers him a spot unless they are desperate for a QB. He’s had every opportunity this year to seize the job, hell the coaches wish he would take the fucking job but he sucks. Don’t let the stats fool you, his stats this year are a reflection of our offensive system and Worthy balling out. I’m sure he’s a great guy, but he’s not a team player. His dad and him have selfish motives and it’s hard for his dad to understand that his son is simply not as talented as he thinks he is. Also, fuck any media outlet that gives Charles Thompson a platform to spew this shit. Texas has had multiple black QBs start here. VY, Tyrone Swoopes, Jerrod Heard, Casey Thompson. Hell we all wanted John Chiles to start. Our lone QB commit this year is black. Our own head coach has a black wife. Charles Thompson is a fucking moron with an agenda.16 points

Be patient with the new coaching staff. Actually allow them to recruit a class (a big change from past coaching changes with new early signing day). Watch staff to see if changes and course corrections can be made in the off season. Watch for recurring problems on offensive side of the ball which is the head coaches area of expertise which was a red flag with Herman and Strong. Support the players who play hard. If poor development is a big part of our problem, then impatience is not going to be rewarded. Be prepared to enforce accountability for the staff when they have upper classmen of their own that showcase the coaching and development that has or has not occurred. Most coaching changes end in failure so the odds are never great with a new staff. We made a bet in Sark and this staff and I think it is foolish to read too much into the early bad outcomes. His tenure should be determined by an ability to fix problems not get everything right from day 1 in my very humble opinion. Hook'em.9 points

Position coaches, like Sam Pittman or Dabo (went from WR coach / recruiting coordinator to interim to HC) Survivors from previous failed regime (Dabo, Stoops) Coordinators (Stoops, Riley, Snyder) HS legends (Malzahn) Lower division legends (Leipold, Klieman) G5 winners (Urban at Utah; Rhule) Guys who haven't won big enough at a P5 (Saban at MSU; all of the above) NFL failures (Carroll) I am not itching to fire Sark or any of the staff at this point, but just pointing out that every kind of resume has its pitfalls and rewards. Somebody in our slapdick organization has to be able to realize when the guy is the guy. And then they need to GTFO his way. Going back to Dana X. Bible, we've exactly one seamless transfer of power. He handed off to the guy he beat out for the job ten years previously -- Blair Cherry -- who did something you just don't see anymore: he bided his time for a decade. Cherry's four-year run was as great as Bible's peak, but our fans and boosters wore him out with unrealistic expectations -- an NC every year, even though we'd never won a single one yet. 9-1 seasons and undefeated conference championships capped off by major bowl wins were not enough. (Yes, he lost to Bud Wilkinson's OU that year, 14-13). He was an insomniac, ulcerated wreck at the end of four years, but it looked like he managed to leave the program in good hands, just as Bible had done in leaving it to him. Cherry's successor went 23-8 with two top ten finishes and a Cotton Bowl win in his first three years....and then drove the program off a cliff. Yes, this was Ed Price, truly the worst coach in Texas history, who took a dynasty and in six years turned it into a 1-9 team. So the whole promoting from within thing is also dangerous. We tried that at the end of Royal's tenure too. By most accounts, Akers was not Royal's guy. That was his DC Mike Campbell, but some of our boosters meddled and Akers won out. Who knows if Campbell would have been any better in the long run -- probably not, 'cause we needed young, post-integration blood on the sidelines then -- but maybe, who knows. And Akers did represent continuity, but not as much. At any rate, he, and the complete catastrophe that was the McWilliams Restoration, represented the end of the Royal era, and decades later, Mack did not get to execute his succession plan, which time has proven would have been a disaster, anyway.... Fuck this season. This is an off-season thread.7 points

"stability for the sake of stability" has to be one of the dumbest fucking arguments I've seen on this site. And that's saying something.7 points

Some of y'all need to stfu about pk and lake. If this guy has to have his guys and his coordinators and his play execution to be successful than he's not that good. Teams have film on this defense and they've pretty much got it figured out. This bend don't break bullshit is such cuck energy. How about attack and suffocate the offense? None of this passive bullshit. Fucking for real.7 points

KR is not a hero! And I should be disappointed in the folks who are trying to make him one. But, I know how they are. I should be equally disappointed in the folks who keep trying to whitewash his shootees and don't want to accept the facts. But I know how they are as well. It's a sad commentary on our society all the way around.6 points

We can call our roster blue chips. But they are overrated dog shit. No spine. No heart soft as charmin overrated dog shit. Can’t tackle. Can’t cover can’t shed a block can’t run faster than 5.0 40. We have 2 blue chips. They rest are 2 stars that got a Texas bump because they played ball in Texas. This is the biggest collection of of fucking losers on one team that I’ve ever seen. The worst aggy team in history would skull fuck this team. It has nothing to do with development. They can’t play basic fundamental football taught at the peewee level6 points

His take is pretty accurate. It's clear you've never been the fix it guy in whatever organization you work for. When you take over a failing organization the first thing you do is come in and identify the problem. There will be four categories of people. Toxic, apathetic wait and see, and try hards. You get rid of the toxic, hire more new people, which are usually more try hards if your evaluation process was good, and this gets the attention of the apathetic wait and see types to shit or get off the pot. In football the first season is eval. Then its time to replace the rot, get some young try hards in here, and hopefully that will turn the apathetic ones. Last year Baylor went 2-7. This year Baylor is 8-2. I don't know if Sark is the answer but I do know it takes time to change a culture. A6 points

I understand the desire for stability and agree that we should be striving for it (I wanted to keep Ash for that reason) but at this point it’s just blatantly obvious that PK isn’t the guy to build around. Every level of the defense sucks, both in scheme and execution. If we had a just below average D, I’d say ok fine give another year. But this is so much worse than that.6 points

Just as with the Houston Texans, at some point you have to stop blaming the coaches and players and look deeper for what's wrong with the franchise / program. Strong was 23-2 the two years before he came here. Herman was something like 25-5. Sark has always been thought a brilliant offensive mind. We can keep firing coaches forever or address the systemic rot that is at the nexus of Bellmont and the boosters or keep going on our merry way to being Nebraska or Tennessee. Not Cal -- at least Cal doesn't really try.6 points

I expect to be able to buy tickets for $5 at HEB next season like we could when I was a kid and Texas football was bad. Texas is 4-7. Okay. But why are they constantly hyping this team and making fans pay so much to watch them? Everyone should get season tickets when they buy a 20lb turkey and a 6 pack.6 points

Stopped into Zavala and picked up 1/2 lb fatty brisket, 1/2 lb lean, 1/2 lb barbacoa, two links of jalapeño cheddar sausage, a couple of poppers and some spicy slaw. I thought everything was excellent, especially the brisket and sausage. Really liked the salsa verde. Surprised by the lack of a significant line.6 points

Y’all get strapped in because I’m going on my biweekly “THIS BITCH HERE” rant. Women should be able to wear what they want and not feel the need to do Powersuit Businessman Cosplay to be accepted in a professional setting. But there are fucking exceptions - and the floor of the gotdamn Senate is one of those exceptions. And, even if she were still the craven corporate duck sucking ditch pig she is, and she dressed “appropriately”, I’d still really, really dislike her. But the fact that she is a craven corporate duck sucking ditch pig whose greatest desire is attention, camera time, and “breaking the internet” makes me DESPISE her. Her actions demean all of us women. Fuck her tacky wigs, fuck her cheap H&M wardrobe, fuck her Catholic schoolgirl getup, fuck her Hot Topic “Dangerous Creature” tshirt, and fuck her tacky “Fuck Off” ring. Seriously. FUCK HER.6 points
