I didn’t tell a single person until I was 26, I didn’t tell a second person until I was 36, by the time I was 38 I had only told 4-5, and it wasn’t until I was 40 that I told everyone. Why didn’t I say something at 10 or 11? Because I didn’t want to be physically assaulted by people more powerful than me, I didn’t want to be kicked out of my home, I didn’t want to be sent to a mental hospital, and I didn’t want the pressure which might lead to suicide. Maybe I was smart, I think I make good decisions certainly strategic ones, but the truth was it was pretty clear I was alone. Today kids aren’t alone so they have the courage to come out, but in a sense that makes it worse because home life can still be just as dangerous as I was afraid it was. I feel for these Florida kids. It’s not an easy time to be queer and in some ways it’s harder now than when I was young. Fuck Ken Paxton fuck Ron desantis and fuck all of the haters here and anywhere.29 points

Considering that the vast majority of "veteran" leaders on the team suck ass and have helped this team do jack shit the last couple of years, I would tell them to suck it.25 points

So i get home late last night, everyone asleep, and I sit down to watch the tube for some mindless television. The channel was already selected to TLC and to my surprise i see Jimbo has a reality TV show about him and his family (Johnstons).19 points

every single day i think at least once about how unreal it is that a nakedly and unapologetically corrupt piece of garbage who everyone, everyone knows would step on his own mother's/wife's/children's neck to achieve some sort of aggrandizing or praise is the object of a cult of personality comprised of people that he fundamentally disdains. i would have preferred my historical figure that reveals how awful that segment of our society truly is and how hostile they are to foundational democratic beliefs to have at least a modicum of intelligence and charisma. dude so clearly belongs in prison for so much that it becomes an overwhelming stream of bullshit.18 points

Imagine being such a shitty teacher that you feel obligated to discuss your radical right wing Christianity with kindergartners. Put aside your ideology for two seconds and fucking teach.17 points

Well I don't know if there's an official NIL page for existing players, but Bijan Robinson has a new Dijon mustard coming out. I'm not making this up. Slogan? "It's like a Touchdown in your Mouth." I guess the official announcement is on August 23 but there's already an Instagram page up. https://www.instagram.com/bijanmustardson/ https://bijanmustardson.com/password17 points

That “majority” has been remembered as something that never actually existed. Let's clear that all up, shall we? Starting January 2009, at the beginning of the 111th Congress, in the month that Barack Obama was inaugurated president, the House of Representatives was made up of 257 Democrats and 178 Republicans. There is no question that Democrats had total control in the House from 2009-2011. Even with numerous "blue-dog" (allegedly fiscally conservative) Democrats often voting with Republicans.....Speaker Pelosi had little difficulty passing legislation in the House. The House does not have the pernicious filibuster rule which the Senate uses. A majority vote in the House is all that's necessary to pass legislation, except in rare occurrences (treaty ratification, overriding a presidential veto). Okay, that's the House during the first two years of Barack Obama's presidency. For a lie to prosper, as it were, there needs to be a shred of truth woven inside the lie. It is absolutely true that from 2009-2011, Democrats and President Obama had "total control" of the House of Representatives. But legislation does not become law without the Senate. The Senate operates with the 60-vote-requirement filibuster rule. There are 100 Senate seats, and it takes 60 Senate votes for "closure" on a piece of legislation....to bring that piece of legislation to the floor of the Senate for amendments and a final vote....that final vote is decided by a simple majority in most cases. But it takes 60 Senate votes to even have a chance of being voted upon. “Total control", then, of the Senate requires 60 Democratic or Republican Senators. On January 20th, 2009, 57 Senate seats were held by Democrats with 2 Independents (Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman) caucusing with the Democrats...which gave Democrats 59 mostly-reliable Democratic votes in the Senate, one shy of filibuster-proof "total control." Republicans held 41 seats. The 59 number in January, 2009 included Ted Kennedy and Al Franken. Kennedy had a seizure during an Obama inaugural luncheon and never returned to vote in the Senate.....and Al Franken was not officially seated until July 7th, 2009 (hotly contested recount demanded by Norm Coleman.) The real Democratic Senate seat number in January, 2009 was 55 Democrats plus 2 Independents equaling 57 Senate seats. An aside....it was during this time that Obama's "stimulus" was passed. No Republicans in the House voted for the stimulus. However, in the Senate.....and because Democrats didn't have "total control" of that chamber.....three Republicans.....Snowe, Collins and Specter, voted to break a filibuster guaranteeing it's passage. Then in April, 2009, Republican Senator Arlen Specter became a Democrat. Kennedy was still at home, dying, and Al Franken was still not seated. Score in April, 2009....Democratic votes 58. In May, 2009, Robert Byrd got sick and did not return to the Senate until July 21, 2009. Even though Franken was finally seated July 7, 2009 and Byrd returned on July 21.....Democrats still only had 59 votes in the Senate because Kennedy never returned, dying on August 25, 2009. Kennedy's empty seat was temporarily filled by Paul Kirk but not until September 24, 2009. The swearing in of Kirk finally gave Democrats 60 votes (at least potentially) in the Senate. "Total control" of Congress by Democrats lasted all of 4 months. From September 24, 2009 through February 4, 2010...at which point Scott Brown, a Republican, was sworn in to replace Kennedy's Massachusetts seat. The truth....then....is this: Democrats had "total control" of the House of Representatives from 2009-2011, 2 full years. Democrats, and therefore, Obama, had "total control" of the Senate from September 24, 2009 until February 4, 2010. A grand total of 4 months. Did President Obama have "total control" of Congress? Yes, for 4 entire months. And it was during that very small time window that Obamacare was passed in the Senate with 60 all-Democratic votes. Did President Obama have "total control' of Congress during his first two years as president? Absolutely not and any assertions to the contrary.....as you can plainly see in the above chronology....is a lie.14 points

If the coaches don't play someone they feel like is the better player or are protecting people against Alabama, fire every one of them right now. This team won 5 games last year. If we are holding anything back for any opponent that is beyond moronic.14 points

My son had a gay kindergarten teacher in public school in Texas. He has multiple friends with same gender parents. Not because anyone sought them out, but because that's the real world in which people (including homosexual people) exist. No one was "obligated" to discuss homosexuality in their classroom. It isn't about ideology, it is about a fact of the world. You don't think kids ask questions? And when you ignore or dismiss their questions, they fill in the blanks on their own. And when kids asked about who the picture on his desk was, the answer was simply, "That's my husband." Easy peasy. Why do idiot right wingers immediately think any discussion of homosexuality means teaching about sexual acts? Does it not occur to them for a second that that's not how we teach about heterosexuality either? It isn't an immediate discussion of heterosexual sex? Can't see past their own dicks. It's amazing.14 points

All the haters. I’m done being nice. Kindness gets you nowhere with them. I believe anyone that would reconsider ignorant positions already has. There are outliers, there are folks who will still come around but it’s a safe bet to assume they won’t. So fuck the haters, every last one of them. I came out on this board 7 years ago to be that person they now know so that familiarity could wash away the uncomfortable feelings that come with the unknown. This board has been amazing but at times very turbulent. It’s not as bad as it once was (however the last couple of years are the second most turbulent times) but I do believe those that were open to changing their minds have. The rest are callous, indifferent, dangerous fossils. Fuck all the haters. the irony is, they espouse a God who created the marvels of the universe, the fantasies of the deep sea and the hidden complex world at the atomic level, a creator so creative he created master pieces humans will never see simply because he wanted to. Yet humanity isn’t one of those subject matters, difference, diversity, complexity are not evidence of that same creator but instead of satanic influence wanting to come for them and their children. I got news for them, I just want to raise my kids lovingly to be strong moral citizens and good stewards of our planet. I want to chase a yellowish fuzzy ball around the court with my racket until my body fails me, fly fish every mountain stream and tropical flat I can find, sail in as many beautiful spots I can, see some cool shit under the water and love my wife while we walk together for the next 35-40 years. I don’t have time to have any other agenda. so why I’m a threat is still a god damned mystery to me.14 points

I read a nice writeup of how russia uses disinformation to muddy the waters of objective truth, and it really rings true when applied to trump as well: Trump and the GQP have succeeded in making truth finding a painful and frustrating, borderline impossible task. The result is a huge demographic that doesn't care about truth anymore because it's all so frustrating and upsetting, and so they just accept whatever they hear first or makes them feel best. MAGA all the way, baby12 points

Have we considered that both QBs suck? We’ve got a 3rd yr chalkboard warrior just waiting with bated breath for a Depends NIL contract. After this Alabama game he may just get it. The other option is a shitkicker freshman with a mullet who’s been banging every chick he introduces himself to for 3 years running and is already a millionaire with a nicer car than I’ll ever sit in. Yeah, I’m sure he’s been hitting the books hard and living/breathing football. Strap in assholes, it’s gonna be a long year.11 points

Actually, allow me to correct you. The economic advisor Manchin himself has been going to for advice for years told him that this bill wouldn't INCREASE inflation in the short term, would reduce it long term, and would in fact lower the national debt. They "played dirty" by...having manchin's private advisor of years tell him that it was a good bill that wouldn't increase inflation. A clear power move to turn and cultivate an economic advisor a decade ahead of Manchin turning to him for advice FOR JUST THIS OCCASION! I guess the Dems can also predict power ball numbers. You're either ignorant and unaware of the facts and yet posting with confidence, or you're lying on purpose. Either way, fuck off.11 points

Went back and jotted down each 11 on 11 snap Ewers completed 11 of 19 passes, took 2 would be sacks, had the beautiful throw to Thompson for a TD and also threw an INT on a tipped ball Card completed 7 of 14 passes, took 2 would be sacks, had two nice touchdown throws and had 3 INT’s, one of which looked like it was a tipped ball on a RB check down.11 points

This is sick as fuck. Got into Vegas last night. Met the guys at the hotel, which is already crawling with metalheads. Did some gambling, checked out the stage we play, and hung out till - fairly early for Vegas time. This morning we did artist check in. Got credentials and checked in merch. Met the guy who's running the whole thing, and the guy who got us in. Super nice guys, its amazing that they can do all this. We were in the back stage areas where artists are still building props and whatnot. Incredible to see what goes into something like this. 6 hours till we hit the stage and kick the whole thing off!10 points

I’ve said this before but two of my daughter’s kindergarten classmates last year come from families with two moms. If that happens in FL, Simply asking for kids to bring a family photo can now get that teacher sued by another parent - or fired by the school district- for “teaching homosexuality”. family tree projects are pretty typical kindergarten curriculum stuff. Quit being an intentionally obtuse troll. The language of the law was broadly written and vague on purpose to chill any public acknowledgement that gay teachers or kids from gay families exist. It’s weaponizing hate to combat a non existent problem. Literally no other state has an issue with this shit. It was made up just to rally bigots to the polls. I guess it worked on you9 points
