  2. I hope you guys realize I do my tired Charlie shtick because it's been the same useless bullshit press conferences from him, Herman, and Sark for 9 years now. Each guy is about as clueless as the last and just parrots these dumb coach speak talking points. I don't watch it any longer because I'm tired of these guys telling me what needs to happen. You're the coach, make it f'ing happen. Don't tell me Bjian needs to get the ball more. Give Bijan the ball more. Same shit, different coach.

  6. Supposedly this got nipped in the bud and hes good now. Was frustrated about lack of attention on the visit...well thats gonna happen when coaches have actual shit to gameplan for with it being a night game. Day games are so much better for recruiting

  9. Take this with a few thousand grains of salt, but... Covid Deaths Probably Cost Republicans the Midterms November 14, 2022 at 12:51 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 146 Comments Jonathan Last: β€œSo again, lots of factors were at play. Including one that doesn’t get talked about much: excess Covid deaths. There’s been an ongoing study of the Republican resistance to the Covid vaccines and the preliminary findings suggest that post-vaccine, Republicans accounted for about 80 percent more of the excess deaths than Democrats. Part of this is because of vaccine hesitancy; part of it is because of the age profile of voters.” β€œI’m not going to burden you with the math here, but if you want to read up on it, the data is quite striking, all the way to the county level.” β€œTo take just one example: between January 2021 and this month, 9,400 people in Nevada died of Covid. The data suggests that the majority of these people would have been Republican voters. Keep that number in mind.” https://politicalwire.com/2022/11/14/covid-deaths-probably-cost-republicans-the-midterms/

  14. Always interesting to see what falls into the acceptable level when it comes to Surly making jokes about people dying. @Parliament cracks a joke about 3 people dying and catches a temporary ban from @hayden_horn. When 150+ die in Seoul the first two replies were "They did the mash?" and "That's a lot of lost seouls", and both posts received only positive rep and were marked as popular posts . Not suggesting that Js1 or Bevo needed to catch a ban but Surly group-think seems pretty fickle given the established tone of reaction to death, unless it's only funny when weird looking foreigners die.

  19. I'm sorry--I'm just looking at this board for the first time since Saturday. Is the current Surly groupthink that the players are blameless? Because Sark is somehow to blame for Worthy, Sanders, and Whittington all dropping passes as though they were covered in KY? And Quinn is not responsible for not being able to complete a pass until the second quarter because he should have been on the bench in favor of . . . Hudson Card, who also can't complete a pass more than ten yards downfield? There were plenty of playcalls I didn't like. But Jesus--the players on the offensive side deserve a lot of heat.

  22. What to me has always been the craziest thing in all of this is that in many ways this is a sanctioned clearing of the ledgers for all the various US military branches for obsolete systems (by US standards) being written off as foreign combat aid. This is for equipment that has been considered obsolete by US combat standards and now instead of salvaging it at a reduced value it is coming off their books in total. This doesn’t sound like a big deal but one of the weird things about militaries is that as their assets and stockpile grow the dollar value on the books become a major issue when dealing with budgetary escalations. We have a ton of systems that are just collecting dust that are technologically obsolete to us but probably still within their budgeted active or secondary lifespans. We are in essence giving the military the ability to ship out what is β€œOK” as a backup and use those budgetary changes to fully scrap completely worthless systems and still have plenty left over for a shortfall to continue with our standard modernization process via a legit budgetary increase. And even though this is our 2nd or 3rd rate systems, it is still just wiping out the paper tiger RU advanced systems and armor.

  24. It's gonna be okay fellas. First and foremost the dude is a freshman despite all the hype and physical tools. Maybe its me being optimistic, but I believe we will one day look back at this like Colt in 07 or VY in 03. I don't think all of you understand how bad a situation we put QE in yesterday. This is the yardages he was in on 3rd and 4th down. 3rd and 7 3rd and 10 3rd and 7 3rd and 15 3rd and 19 3rd and 10 3rd and 13 3rd and 10 3rd and 11 4th and 7 3rd and 17 4th and 17 No freshman QB is gonna have a good day when he is looking at that. Part of it on the line not being able to open up anything in the running game. Part of it is on receivers for not making an effort and dropping catchable passes. Part of it is on Sark for not getting something else going. Asking a freshman to throw into the teeth of a defense that is rushing 3 and dropping 8 with these yardages all game long is how you have a kid end up 17-38 or whatever he ended up being. I think he will be ok in the long run, but we need to temper our expectations as this is his first year on the field.
