  1. The thing that pisses me off, possibly the worst save the whole fuck democracy thing, is that while old, it's obvious Biden fucking loves America. And he loves America in a way that is dwindling to the point of not existing anymore. He does hard shit as president, he does shit he doesn't like, but he does it. But in moments like this, you can see his pure, unadulterated joy in bringing Americans home. This is the shit he fucking lives for as President. It's just genuine happiness to be able to bring folks home. This right here is the guy who was best friends with John McCain, right here. Meanwhile, the other fuck has never fucking laughed in his life and never enjoyed anything about being president other than worship and personal immunity.

  4. Thank you that's very kind. There's a lot of work in the political science field on this topic and the easiest way to characterize it is that the VP pick matters, but not in the sense of delivering a discrete result from a place or group. Where it seems to have the greatest effect is in positively or negatively reflecting on the judgment and priorities of the Presidential candidate, in that it's a reflection of what they think is important. in other words - of course it helps if your VP is popular in a battleground state and how much is a matter of degree, BUT it's hard to find an example of a VP "delivering" a close or battleground state. Bentsen didn't deliver Texas, Gore didn't deliver (or subsequently win) Tennessee. Biden already had Delaware, but arguably helped a little in PA. That said - the VP choice says a lot about the presidential candidate. Palin told the world McCain was desperate and would cater to the weirdos in the GOP. Biden told older white people that Obama wasn't a revolutionary. Cheney told the money guys that Bush was serious about playing ball. Kaine told America that Hillary couldn't handle a strong #2 and thought she had the election in the bag. Vance tells coomers with waifu pillows that Donald Trump understands their loneliness. So, part of why I give a slight edge to Walz over Shapiro is that while Shapiro is very popular in a crucial state, Walz conveys the desire to return to normalcy - the idea that it's important to laugh off the madness and go do stuff and be nice people. Shapiro is good at the politics of the moment, but nobody loves those, and conveys to Democrats that this is a must win election, but at what cost?

  5. It's such a breath of fresh air having multiple national stage Dems not being pussies.

  6. I would prefer a candidate for VP that people can rally around that won't instantly piss off the purity testing left. Walz or Beshear fit the bill. Shapiro's state is the only thing I like from him. He has the most possible negatives. Walz and Beshear's only negatives are they don't have enough name recognition and their states aren't that key to winning. That said, I think both could greatly help with reaching out to the middle in the Rust Belt. Walz is a midwest guy, hell he's the stereotype. Beshear can get you red state people. I also think Beshear gives you something that is a perfect antidote for white people who might be leery about voting for a black woman. He is representation. He's a young, white male. He has the perfect suburban looking family. People can see themselves in a guy like him. Yes, that's an appeal to a form of racial bias but I think he and his family would play really well with that demo. I think Walz could charm anyone over to his side with his Minnesota attitude. He feels like the living embodiment of Tommy Callahan Sr from Tommy Boy. My preference would be Walz>Beshear>>>>>>>>Shapiro. With that said, if Kamala and her team pick Shapiro then let's just fucking go. Winning is all that matters now.

  7. More people need to stop using Twitter. Musk can’t suspend you if you don’t use his products.

  8. This Tim Walz interview with Ezra Klein is refreshing. He’s literally the anti-Greg Abbott. “I want Minnesota to be the best state to raise kids” and he lists about 20 things they’ve done to improve the lives of mothers, kids and families. Abbott only pro-family agenda is to say “it could have been worse” 2 hours after Uvalde shooting. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-ezra-klein-show/id1548604447?i=1000664114455

  13. That....is about as savage as it fucking gets. From one of the most popular living Americans. Who is part of a display happening on a global stage, in front of a record-sized American audience (that MAGA olympics boycott ain't working out so well), demonstrating for the "DEI is our code word for the N-word!" crowd that....diversity is our strength. Shit, just yesterday, the United States of Fucking America took gold and bronze in the women's all-around, and the competition ended with a black American and a Korean American joyfully and PROUDLY parading around the arena with an American flag. THAT is America. THAT is the reality, and the good and simple vision, that is on the table this election. Do you want jubilant Americans of all stripes working for and celebrating this country, or do you want angry fundagelical white assholes inflicting pain on everyone else? Simone's the fucking GOAT. MAGA can get fucked. The vibe is more like the Obama vibe than I expected. It's energized, and it has something to fight for, and against. Truly, imagine if term limits weren't a thing, and Obama could run again...and imagine an Obama v. Trump race in 2024. That's the kind of energy were talking about....except it may be even more than that, because women. I very much expect and fear this will happen. And it will be good for something like a +2 to Trump's numbers.

  15. I think over the last two weeks, I've thought "Let's not overthink this, just choose _______" about probably four different people. These all appear to be better options than, say, Tim Kaine.

  17. I'm tempted to go look at what she had to say about Atwater and Gingrich. If she wanted civil discourse she should have said something about it back then. Did she have a problem with Cheney telling Leahy to fuck off? Nah, she doesn't get off that easy. You made the monster. Because it's uncomfortable and tawdry now you don't get a pass when Atwater taught you how to whistle. Time to pay the piper.
