https://gigemgazette.com/power-ranking-the-sec-after-week-7-new-top-team-as-ut-uga-bama-falter-01ja5p6adymq Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #3 - Texas The Longhorns notched a big milestone this weekend by taking care of OU, who has been the perennial burr under their saddle. The triumphant return of Quinn Ewers to the quarterback spot saw the senior QB get his second win in the Red River Rivalry. However, the scoreboard destruction of Oklahoma still masks some of the issues that have been persisting with this Texas team. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Horns have yet to be tested, and they’re not really passing with flying colors in every facet. There’s no one, dominant team this year, of course. Everyone has holes. But when I see that the Texas pass offense put up a worse performance against OU than did the Auburn Tigers, of all teams, that has me concerned. So too does the defense. The Longhorns have yet to play a team with the ability to complete a downfield pass, and they’ve been able to dedicate scheme and numbers to the run game as a result—yet they’re still not as dominant as they were last year. UGA will be a test in that respect, so we’ll find something out about the Longhorns this weekend—one way or the other. Next Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #2 - Georgia The Bulldogs have still not quite been as impressive as most hoped so far this year. They have won convincingly in several games—that Clemson win just keeps looking better and better, in particular—but games like this previous Saturday against Mississippi State have been a thorn in their side. Yes, if you look at total yardage, it was a convincing win. But this is the type of game that was a wholesale destruction under previous championship squads under Kirby Smart. We can write it off a little bit as a lookahead spot for the Bulldogs, who will be traveling to Austin this Saturday. But the alarm bells are still there for UGA. If they don’t win on Saturday, 9-3 is a real possibility in Athens. That might still be enough to get them in the playoff, but it won’t make many Bulldog fans happy. Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #1 - Texas A&M Why not? We need a larger body of work, to be sure. But it looks more and more like A&M’s performance against Missouri—efficient and explosive on offense, and suffocating on defense—is one of the most complete and dominant games we’ve seen out of any squad in the nation this year. They have to follow it up with some more big games, no doubt. But it’s encouraging that, upon Weigman’s return, the Aggies looked so dominant against a quality team. Again, there is more that has to be shown. But if that Mizzou game showed what the Aggies are going forward, there are almost no holes in this team—and those holes that are present are at spots that have been improving every single week. It’s looking more and more like the Ags may have the best defense in the conference, with down years in Athens and Tuscaloosa. They’re certainly more tested in that respect than others who may lay claim to that title. If the offense can keep up what they did against Mizzou, this Aggie team could be a conference title contender in year one under Mike Elko.38 points

I really just want this shit to end. It's so stressful. I personally think it's going to be a landslide for democracy. But i could be wrong, I'm wrong a lot. I can't stand the stress and anxiety. Time to log off for the next month, which I absolutely won't do.30 points

The lack of media pushback on his "retard" comment is damning. I understand that the average Joe is inured to his bluster, but the media should do their fucking job.24 points

Luckily for us in Florida, Buffalo Wild Wings down the street got power back on Friday afternoon. My son and I set up shop at 11:30 AM on Saturday to ensure that we had a place to see the game. By the time the game kicked off, we had amassed a $200 bar tab and were easily the loudest people in the place. When this play happened, the entire place became Texas fans and cheered with us. Hurricane Milton had beaten us down pretty good, but on Saturday afternoon, all was right in the world for about 4 hours.21 points

Just an FYI. When there is shit talking with a troll from an opposing fanbase in the football thread, it isn't a time to be introspective. You don't stop and say "well, this troll makes a good point, maybe we do suck."20 points

I really have no strong predictions about the outcome of the election. But I KNOW 2 things: 1. Enthusiasm for Harris is higher than it was for Biden in 2020 or Clinton in 2016. 2. Enthusiasm for Trump is lower than it was in 2016 or 2020.20 points

Sounds like an awesome topic for some forum that is not the Texas Longhorns football forum.19 points

The “Harris is slipping support among Black men” is a fucking myth. It’s being put out there on purpose. If Harris loses, it will be solely because of the lack of the White vote. Her support among Blacks (and Black men) is fucking sky high. Jesus Christ.18 points

Holy fuck this post is initiating a fatwa. The complete lack of self awareness and pure idiocy on display here is actually impressive. I was gonna try to save you because it's nice having other fans perspectives, but if you are just gonna post garbage like this then bye.18 points

I really appreciate your updates, your knowledge about what various polls mean, and your insights about the "numbers behind the numbers." I feel good about her winning if people actually get out a vote as expected. If she loses I will blame you for consistently giving me hope lol.17 points

Taaffe has turned into a damned good player. Not a damned good player *for a former walk on*, but a damned good player full stop. He's improved every year he's been here and is a plus player on our defense. I never thought I'd type that.17 points

Sore Loser With three weeks to go until Election Day, Donald J. Trump stands a reasonable chance of becoming the 47th President of the United States. Despite assassination attempts, impeachments, special counsels, felony convictions and hundreds of millions in civil penalties, most polls show his race against V.P. Kamala Harris is too close to call. The first time he ran for president in 2016, he was coming off the last season of Celebrity Apprentice. I had a front row seat as a finalist on that final season and marveled at his audacity with his checkered past to seek the highest office in the land. Then, in the blink of an eye, he went from novice to formidable challenger to victorious over Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. As President he was a loyal friend, who allowed regular access. My resulting coverage gave him the benefit of most doubts. His presidency was underrated. Throughout his first big scandal in office, the 2017-2019 Mueller Investigation into allegations Trump conspired with Russia to undermine our political process, I stuck with him, deeply suspicious of constant efforts to undermine his Administration. The last time President Trump and I spoke was Friday, November 13, 2020, when he called me at home. It was ten days after his narrow lost to Joe Biden. He was calling to get my take on the controversies surrounding the election, which appeared to have been decided by a handful of votes in several states. I asked him what he would do if the vote count remained against him. As I reported on Fox News that same morning, Friday the 13th, he told me he was a reasonable man and would do the right thing if that time came. It never did. Instead, President Trump embarked on an increasingly menacing campaign to discredit the 2020 election. With a motley supporting cast of increasingly fringe characters, he careened from one bizarre theory to the next, offering no meaningful proof, that he had been robbed by the Democrats. None exists. If you are a Republican, Donald Trump has made a liar of you. He has coaxed and intimidated tens of millions into pretending he was reelected in 2020, and that the election was stolen. In furtherance of that Big Lie, on January 6, 2021, Trump incited and unleashed the violent attack on the center of democracy, the U.S. Capitol for which he was Impeached. As his followers trashed that sacred space, he was on the phone urging Vice President Mike Pence essentially to overturn the will of the American people. Pence refused to put Trump ahead of the Constitution. Trump stabbed the Constitution in the back. Maybe you are inclined to vote for the former president anyway, because he says he will cut your taxes or build the border wall or pull out of NATO or put tariffs on China. However, you justify voting for Trump, adopting his big lie about the stolen election makes you a liar. Better to admit he lost last time but that you don’t care because a Harris presidency would be a disaster, or you admire his defiance in the face of an assassin’s bullet. Just don’t pretend that he got robbed in 2020. That is a lie. Former President Trump is a sore loser who cannot be trusted to honor the Constitution. That is why I am voting for Kamala Harris to be our 47th President.15 points

When it was laying there, I just assumed that the first player to dive on it would just knock it out of bounds. For him to have the sense to be able to get his body beyond the ball, cradle it in, and roll over to show control in bounds before sliding out was incredible.13 points

Attended in person. Watching a replay and looking at stats today it is really starting to set in what a thorough ass kicking that was. I mean, obviously that was evident to a major extent yesterday but taking a step back and having less beer in the system brings some clarity. That was the best performance by a Texas defense I have seen in a very long time. OU obviously cooperated with that seeing as they are refried ass on offense, but those two units did not belong on the same field. Awesome to watch them just tee off on Oklahoma. In hindsight, the offense played a better game than I realized at the time. Honestly, Quinn Ewers was the weak link for Texas. He did get better later on in the game but never really got it going. Without his several somewhat inexplicable misses Texas could have set a new record for victory margin in the series. Here's hoping that gets cleaned up this coming week and we get a great performance back home vs Georgia. I started at UT in 2010 and haven't seen a ton of Ws in this series. I'm really optimistic Texas is going to rack up some wins over the rest of the 2020s, and that's exciting as hell. OU sucks.13 points
