  1. I’ve been meaning to start this for over a year now, and I’ve never done it. So why not start today:

  2. Right, because rooting for the cancer over Rush is exactly the same as getting your laughs in when an innocent person dies in a freak accident. I don't give a shit that Rush was conservative; I care that he made millions of dollars spreading nothing but hate and vile, warping the brains of others, including a decent amount of our parents. Alec seems like a real piece of work and and asshole...but neither he or the victims deserved this. Nor is the political point particularly clever. If you're going to be dark, at least be funny. Also, I don't think people are serious when they say that they wish the tree finished the job. Though, maybe some of the women around here would disagree after Abbott made them second class citizens, but I'll let them speak for themselves.

  5. If I can tell on myself, I’d say that I grew up a rangers fan full stop. My dad is from Ft Worth , and growing up in NE Texas the ballpark in Arlington was a 2 hour drive vs 4 to Houston, so it made sense. I’m college rooted like hell for the rangers to win the series (twice) but was left with heartache. I moved to Houston after college and my second year here they won the whole thing and I swear that parade and the drunken stupor after changed my whole mindset. It’s been so damn fun living in this city the past several Octobers. Took my newborn in the stroller this afternoon and my whole neighborhood was out and about in Astros gear, handing out beers on the way to their watch parties. I love this city, and I love the Astros. Fuck the haters let’s win us a fucking trophy baby!

  10. The boy and I were at the last ALCS clincher - we were walking on air for days after Altuve’s walkoff. Today, the boy is 5,000 miles and 7 hours away, with no way to watch. So we did a video chat, with my phone capturing the TV. We watched this clincher together as well, till 5:30 am his time. This is our team. Fuckin’ a.

  12. Good series and great win Astros. Your bats are solid, your pitching is damn good, and I hope you can hold the team together and run for a bit. It was fun watching it with this group and I appreciate everyone's baseball knowledge and love of the game. Was able to watch it at my local bar with some very cool fans who knew their shit. Go get em. I will be rooting for the Astros to take it all.

  13. don’t worry, all our good pitchers are gone after this year. verlander, greinke, etc. the rest of the world series team will be back. enjoy 4th place.

  15. I know this is a minority opinion, but it almost doesn’t matter to me if they win or lose the World Series. Baseball is so random that best 4 out of 7 just doesn’t tell us anything important about quality of teams. baseball is a 162 game season for a reason and the postseason is just so damn random. This collection of Astros, to people who know them, know baseball, and have followed them for the past 5/10/25/60 whatever years is just so damn special. It’s remarkable and nothing that happens in the next 10 days can change that. Now, all that said let’s go win the whole fucking thing and get a well deserved second ring for this special group of players.

  19. Lifting this from the 1-0 EGAT podcast...here is Texas' 2019 class (should be upperclassmen leaders of the team now): Bru McCoy - never played a snap for Texas Jordan Whittington - often hurt, out for rest of this season too? Jake Smith - transfer to USC Tyler Johnson - can't crack depth chart De'Gabriel Floyd - retired Tyler Owens - portal Kenyatta Watson II - portal Marcus Washington - a little bit of production David Gbenda - rotation player Braden Liebrock - perennially injured Chris Adimora - backup Derrian Brown - retired Roschon Johnson - QB covered to backup RB Isaiah Hookfin - very limited PT, backup Byron Morin - burred in depth chart Javon Shepard - lasted 3 months, not with team Jacoby Jones - quality, but injury prone Marcus Tillman Jr. - constantly injured T'Vondre Sweat - starter! Peter Mpagi - medically retired Caleb Johnson - portal Kennedy Lewis - kicked off team Marcus Caldwell - has he seen the field? Jared Wiley - starter Willie Tyler - portal Juwan Mitchell - portal Those are our team's leaders right now. I haven't done a similar breakdown for 2018 but I'm guessing it would look similar. We have systemic talent identification and development issues that span the last 2 coaches prior to this and won't be cleaned up 7 games into the first season. Talent is what talent does and those that put expect chicken salad from chicken shit and want to give up after some shitty games where frankly we dogs to OU and OSU for a reason, can go fuck yourselves.
