gets to, it's not like someone's taking 3 wood just to get in the fairway on 17 or 18 here

I would think you’d rather tee off second so you can read how the wind affects the flight of your opponent’s ball. Anyway, apparently them’s the rules.

On a par 3, yes. Not so much with driver in your hand.

Even w driver. Second guy can change strategy based off of first guys drive. Particularly to take a more conservative approach if first guy fucked up badly

If it's a short par 4, probably.  These guys will hit driver regardless what the other guy does.

Maybe so but after watching eight playoff holes I don’t think there’s any way to credibly argue that it gave Harris an advantage or Kramer a disadvantage. Maybe pros are just superstitious.

17 and 18 today were always going to be driver off the tee so probably not that big a deal but pros always want to put pressure on the other guys by teeing off first, this isn't something new.

Argentinian golfer Angel Cabrera, a former Masters and U.S. Open champion, was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison on charges he assaulted his former partner.

A court in the province of Cordoba, 500 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, convicted the 51-year-old of assaulting, threatening and harassing Cecilia Torres Mana, his partner between 2016 and 2018.

Cabrera, who denied in the trial any wrongdoing, will serve his sentence immediately.

"His situation is much more complex than this, he has other charges for which there are arrest warrants, too. There are other victims," prosecutor Laura Battistelli told TV channel Todo Noticias.

The first charges brought were for his assault of Torres Mana. Two other former partners also said he assaulted them.

The golfer traveled to the United States in July 2020 without seeking permission, which led the province of Cordoba to request his arrest.

Cabrera was arrested by Interpol agents in Rio de Janeiro in January. Last month he was extradited from Brazil to Argentina so he could face trial.

He won the U.S. Open at Oakmont in 2007, beating Tiger Woods and Jim Furykby one shot. He also triumphed in a Masters playoff in 2009 and lost a playoff in the same event in 2013 to Adam Scott.
