Isn’t that an old video, or do they all just run together now that all decent norms in this country have completely collapsed

The day I retired I set an auto reply that said something like "As of EOB today I will be retired.  If you expect me to reply to an email after 10:00 am today, you will be disappointed."  At the 3:00

They all run together. That IS the new societal norm.

I uninstall the Uber app almost immediately after every ride because of its annoying fucking notifications. I want notifications on so I know driver has been selected/is 5 minutes out/has arrived. I don't want all the other shit about buying more rides or delivering carrots or duct tape or butt plugs. And I'm too lazy to see if there's a way to turn off those other notifications while leaving the useful ones. Lyft app doesn't send me any of that shit.

Just turn off all notifications until you use the app.

it's less steps to install and then uninstall the app than to go into settings and turn on and then off notifications for uber.

In San Antonio for Christmas. Sweet mother of mercy I'd forgotten how god awful the drivers are here. Completely oblivious. Sitting at 4 way stops like there's a red light. Waiting 5 seconds to accelerate on greens. Everyone on their phone.

Trivial things thread, it's what it's for...  And Merry Christmas!

We have a ring camera in our kitchen pointed towards the back door.

Someone was in our backyard last night pointing a flashlight into the kitchen.

I thought the chances of people wandering in would be lower since we lived in a gated community, but nope.

Anyway, we are 4 days into our vacation with another 6 to go. This is in the back of my head wondering if they’re gonna come back tonight.

Going into CVS, and immediately being met with a big monitor showing me on camera with a red sign saying recording in progress. Walking around the store and half the merchandise is under lock and key and I have to beg someone to let me grab something off the shelf. I hate this store attitude of I need to let you know that I know that you are all a bunch of fucking criminals.

The Wet Bandits imo

TV show seasons being so spread out is stupid. I got friends asking if I'm up to date on Stranger Things, it's been 3 fucking years! I barely remember WTF was happening when it stopped. The desire to finish it just isn't there. Maybe I'll give a shit about it again one day.

Turns out the burglar with the flashlight was my robot vacuum / mop moving around and its light reflecting off the glass door.

I just figured it out because my ring camera detected motion. I turned on the camera, and since it was still light outside, I could see robot scooting around.

Whew.

A battery powered household device that can change speed and motion.  Close enough.

Attempting to look at a restaurant menu online prior to driving there to dine in, but it won’t list the prices of the food.
Instead it says ‘Start order now”.
I do not want to order carryout or doordash, I want to see the complete menu with prices before leaving the house.

Plus, why do some restaurants make it so difficult to find their happy hour menus online?

So much this. I don’t WANT to place a goddamn online order. I don’t want to have to enter my preferred delivery time and address. I just want to see if you offer extreme fajitas and pizza shooters and see how much they cost. That’s it. I want to see your goddamn menu. It’s not hard to post it. Lots of places do.

That is why we followed my son in Boston. He had scoped it all out.

I would not walk 10 feet for their shit coffee.

Its fairly well-known that warm/red lighting is the most pleasant and least disruptive to night vision.

Not to my wife, who can’t sleep without a night light. When we stay at her parents house, the night lights are mounted high on the wall—directly in my line of sight, and theyre RGB but my wife insist on keeping them at fucking GREEN, and they sear through my eyelids, right into my retina, when im simply trying to sleep.

While watching a football game on TV, a big play happens or a TD is scored, and the play by play guy starts shrieking loudly like a little bitch cornholed with a red hot poker……in a transparent fake attempt to generate more excitement.

Dandy Don Meredith & Howard Cosell would sneer at such dumbassery.

California’s mandated low flow shower heads. Yes I know we’re in perpetual drought, but a man needs a strong shower.

Showering in other states / countries is a treat.

the controls on watch espn disappear as you are using them. need to go back 30 seconds to see something again, you have to hit the 10 sec back 3 times. but the on screen controls keep disappearing so half the time the second or third click pauses the feed or un-fullscreens the window.

why does every piece of garment need to have 50 different tags?

print them on water dissolvable material or put them on tear-off tags or something

Worse is when you clip the little plastic line holding tags and one of the anchors flies off to embed itself in the carpet, where you can't find it but it stays ready to impale your foot in the middle of the night

Perfect alignment of post and avatar.

Personally, I hate the little end of those that gets stuck in a seam or hem and you don't know it until you're wearing the garment and wonder what bug is biting you.

Sports announcers that say tonight's game when it's 1:00 in the afternoon.

Picked up a bug and have been knocked out the past 24 hours. Fever, chills, body aches, etc. The worst is the brain fog. It’s like I know I can do something to feel better, but can’t remember what to do.

2026 is off to a shitty start.

Cross posted from trivial things that please the ever living shit out of you:

enjoy catching a car salesman in a lie.

They’re better at it now.

The tone is warmer. The delivery sounds more “authentic.” The posture looks consultative.

But the script is still the same.

“I might be able to get you nine hundred here…”

“Well those promos don’t apply in your case because…”

Five minutes later:

“You know I want to help you out. I’ll give you xyz.”

When NHL does these Winter Classic games in baseball stadiums I literally cannot stand that they use this as the alignment. Like even if I was all in on hockey I couldn't watch. Even if the TV angle hides it well just knowing this pisses me off to a very illogical and unreasonble degree. Just seeing the pictures in my social media feeds is triggering as fuck.

When the cars on opposite side of the highway have bright headlights but youre not sure if its from intentional high beams and they pass before you even get a chance for a revenge-flash

I'm getting older and more surly but every other car these days makes me think their high beams are on.

It's the LED or HID or whatever lights that every car has I'm sure. But they seem even brighter now than a few years ago.

And don't get me started on shitty aftermarket LEDs and jacked up trucks with their retina-scarring beams in the rearview.

Or how about credit card thieves?

This shit started right before Christmas - Credit card crooks using computers to steal from our Visa card.
Elan Financial Services faud investigators damn sure better restore that $$$$.$$ permanently.
Gee, those transactions over two days really look legit, don’t they?
Never heard of that kind of online business, much less what it does

I was at the local Honda dealer a few years ago buying a 4-wheeler for my son. The salesman and I went back and forth until he finally said that he would have to go ask the "business manager" to go any lower. He came back and said, "Sorry, that is as low as I can go. I cannot go any lower". To my advantage another salesman was on the phone in the adjacent cubicle and he was talking rather loud and he agreed on a deal for the same 4-wheeler that I was trying to buy at a lower price than what my salesman was offering. I just looked at my salesman. He was pissed because he just heard what I had heard. I walked out with a sweet deal on a 4-wheeler.

Yep. I went to another dealer. Still a pain but got what I wanted

We just discovered that some damned crook actually called our credit Union earlier this week and changed some information like phone numbers and email.

Mrs. Brat is trying to deal with this shit on the phone right now (I cannot hear those people well enough even on speaker to help). Goddamned crooks have us extremely stressed right now.
