Are you in Texas. If so, your county clerk should have deed records online that can be searched from your couch. In that search type in your name. Sort by date. Last document you should see is a release. If it’s there the bank has confirmed to the world that you are paid off. 
 

I’ve never been lucky or smart enough to pay off a house so I don’t know what the band sends you. But I have looked at a lot of property records and know what a release looks like.

I'm in Austin / Travis County.  I'll do a search and see what I find.  Thank you.

 

edit to add:  I did a search on the Travis County Clerk's database and found the "Release of Lien" document from Wells Fargo.  So this is all I need for proof of ownership?  THANK YOU1

For the most part. You get a deed when you buy the property that is held “in trust” by the lender until they are paid. They release their interest and the deed is your proof of ownership. The release says they deed - previously held in trust - is now yours.

10 year down to 3.95 (.025 on the day) hitting 1+ year lows (Oct 3 2024). UWMs 90 bps refi program also still active for 10 more days which several of you have taken advantage of
