You could try The Little Watch shop on Shepard.

Good call.  Dropped off today.  They opened it up while I waited to give me a real cost estimate.

Just bought my first grown man watch at 54.  Better late than never.

It's a Kurono 2025 Anniversary Jubilee Sensu EOL.  Know nothing about the brand other than it's a limited release, I liked how it looked and thought it would be a good conversation piece since the face in in Japanese.  Any info on the brand would be appreciated.

So what does the complication at 9:00 do?

That's the power meter.  I forget the technical name.

In the image it's telling you that there are 40 hours left.  But it charges with movement, so it only matters when you're not wearing it.

According to the website, it's designed to look like a traditional Japanese fan.  And the center is like a Japanese rock garden.

Hajime Asaoka is fantastic when it comes to dial design. You're paying most of that $2.5k for the excellent craftsmanship on the dial, the movement is a standard Miyota 9133 (Miyota 9-series with a power reserve complication). Miyota's discontinued the 9133 so keep that in mind when it's time for servicing.

Kurono is a bit of an oddball microbrand. They pride themselves on being very forward-thinking. A few years ago they released a limited edition and explicitly stated that the direct-sale batch would only be sold to female-identifying customers, which caused a bit of a stir and they had to backtrack. Regardless, they make damn nice dials.

Interestingly, the 12 o'clock marker on your watch is actually 零, the character for zero.

Also fun fact, the rest of those characters are old school Chinese characters for the corresponding numbers. No one really uses those characters anymore as they were replaced by more simplified characters decades ago.

Anyone know what the characters by 3 O'clock mean?

At first I thought it was the date, but it looks static.

“Kurono” (Chrono) in Japanese (katakana) - ク(ku)  ロ(ro)  ノ(no)

Damn nice. Not many out there do enamel dials better than Anordain. How long was the wait for your build slot?

There wasn't a wait for this model (Fabrik Model 1), but the options for the new version (Model 3) are either 2029 or 2030.  Ergo I opted for this one.

Is that their off-white dial?  Beautiful.

Yes, but it's not enamel.  These are lacquer and ship immediately.

It's not as cool, but I'm not waiting 4-5 years for a watch.

I lied.

I decided to reserve a build slot for this.  It's too pretty to pass up

Hopefully I'm still alive in 2029.
