I also think Sark needed to give an actual reason as to why he let PK go. Agreeing or disagreeing with what he said is almost irrelevant imo. Sark let a top 10 DC go, I want to know why he did and don’t go into coach speaking mode which he is really good at doing. Having to go with reasons given by people in the know on here or 9.95 sources would just piss off everyone more than common coach speak answer.

Sark doesn't owe you shit. It could be a personal issue between him and PK.  It could be that he thinks PK is really good but not quite good enough for the SEC.  It could be that PK was angling for a job on the West Coast and Sark found out about it.  It could be that Sark wanted to blitz twice as much as PK did and that was it. There could be a million different reasons.

Just win, baby.

I think Muschamp became available and this was Sark’s compromise bc he is never per his own words in many many mainstream articles giving up playcalling. I do believe he got pressure behind the scenes and I do believe this is his compromise. Let me bring in my DC and he will HC the defense while I HC the offense. And I am keeping my crew on offense, that’s how I read all he wrote. And he probably threw PK under the bus a little with the Powers that Be. If only I could focus on offense and not both sides of the ball we’d win. This is his compromise. If it works Sark is a hero. If it doesn’t work he is gone imo. Because he is getting everything he wanted.

and I’m pretty sure he reads our shit anyway.

so here is a suggestion Sark: i have the slogan for you for the 2026 season “No Excuses. Just win.” Drop the full of gas busted brakes bullshit.

now go out there and bag a championship 🤘🏼

For the most part I agree with you. I’m not one of those to cling on every word in a coach’s press conference and cry when he does coach speak. I find it funny when people do in the weekly press conference threads. But I think PK being one of the highest paid coordinators in the nation and by all means doing the best job last 3-4 years, an explanation is the right thing to do in this particular shower. But I can see why others may disagree.

I really think that it could be as simple as something like this: Sark wants to blitz more. PK thinks blitzing is, for the most part, not worth the ROI. He tells Sark that he'll blitz more, then just can't bring himself to do it. Finally, Sark is like "dude, we agreed that you'd blitz more."  I'm not saying that it's necessarily blitzing, but some philosophical difference.

Also, I do think that Sark realizes that Georgia is really his biggest obstacle and who has more insight into Georgia and Kirby Smart than Muschamp?

Yeah others have said similar as to why they think he let PK go and I agree with most of those reasons. My post was mainly in favor of him saying something today outside of coach speak.

Could PK go to the OC and say “dude I thought we talked about you not going 3 and out 10-12 times a game” or “dude I thought you agreed to score more than 7 points against Ohio state after we get more yards on them” maybe even “dude can you stop abandoning the run constantly and killing clock with incomplete passes.” Muschamp knows what it’s like to watch the offense continually fuck him over so he’s got that going for him and he was wearing the same colors when it happened.

How about “shit man, my bad for letting Florida pound our ass”

“Sorry our was too busy checking Diego’s mom. Can’t believe they almost came back”

“Those adjustments we talked about? Well I have different plan for 4Q against Georgia.”

“Damn Mississippi got hands. Thank god for our second string QB”

In todays press conference I found Sarks implication that he needed to be a babysitter for an experienced coordinator like Pete Kwiatkowski to be disingenuous. I wasn't buying it, and I imagine PK would feel disrespected hearing those insinuations.

Are you talking about muschamp or Akina being put out to pasture ? Akina is way past his prime. Muschamp is young enough to have a decade left and he’s 3-1 in national title games, 2 of which were this decade that’s only just half way through, and has saban experience to draw from for a commonality with sark.

Muschamp is prime right now.

now the OL and offensive scheme and RB room (beside Wisner (situational / second back) are problems 1, 2 and 3, but to miss that Muschamp is a CLEAR upgrade is mind bottling.

i think flood needs to go, I think pro style 12 personnel as the base needs to go and should be used if we have the tight ends that can block as a feature not a base, I think the run game needs to be retooled, I think OL recruiting needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, but hey for better or for worse sark wants to solve it by himself (we may still get more coaching changes I dunno), and if bringing in the best defensive coach with HC’ing experience allows sark to ignore the defense and focus 100% on the offense and he was spending time on defense then I’m all for it. An organization is a complex system, it’s very possible this could impact the O’s performance in ways that are helpful especially if sark is going to retool some things this offseason.

bottom line Muschamp is a significant upgrade and given how well PK’s defenses were at times, we should all be thrilled and excited and then turn back to sark - ok now fix the offense.

No. I don’t even think Sark supporters thought Sark was doing that. Sark doesn’t want to be on the defensive headset. He wants to be both HC and OC so he needs a DC who is a HC. He got exactly what he wanted.

If it works we celebrate. I eat crow happily. because we will have won the second MNC in my lifetime. 🤘🏼

If it doesn’t work (and we ain’t playing for a MNC or even close) there are no more excuses that should be made for Sark and he will be gone and I come at Sark supporters like a spider monkey. Where is the downside? I don’t see one. LFG! no excuses, just win. 🤘🏼

The downside is Sark continuing to call plays from 12 personnel with interior OL and TEs who don't block well. My hope is Arch plays so well it'll mask his game planning and play-calling mistakes.

Do I think Muschamp is a better DC than PK? Probably, but he wasn't our biggest problem and I didn't like Sark throwing him under the bus on his way out. It's put up or shut up time.

Sark's comments surprised me. Thats not something you say about someone you like, and I think its a dick move to do it right after you throw PK onto the open market (assuming he hadn't already found a landing spot).

Admitting you dont even want to be on the headset while your team is on defense, just so you can focus on one side of the ball? He's backed into a corner now. His offense better look improved.

I still think it’s a setup for Sark’s exit next year. We hire Muschamp for DC (when clearly offense was the problem) and everyone is overjoyed. Then when Sark leaves for the NFL next year and takes his butt buddies Flood and Banks with him, we won’t be left with our dicks in our hands because we have Coach Boom to step up and be the HC. Then everyone is overjoyed once again.

Think about it, if Sark has the same staff as 2025 and then leaves after 2026 taking everyone with him, we look like fools without having someone waiting in the wings to take over the way Muschamp can possibly do now.

Whoa now. I mean we all like PK but his side of the ball was just as much a problem THIS season. Sans OU, that Florida- Arkansas run was not good defense. It's not just about points scored, it's that you couldn't put the lid on teams when you needed to. It wasn't that long ago that 3rd and PK was a running joke. We were truly solid defensively for a single year, largely based on personnel. We weren't doing anything special schematically.

Again, Champ hasn't been calling games for a good minute so things may not work out, but when he was here it was obvious that dudes understood their assignment, played fast, and aggressive. We played some exotics too with split field coverages. Mainly though, when it was time to man up and get after it we did. What it looks like is Sark wants someone he can give full autonomy to on their side of the ball and he can focus more on offense. Georgia has that with Mike Bobo.

After listening to Sark's PC, I get the sense that Sark and PK were not in alignment with regards to the defensive playcalling. I think most of us would agree with what kind of defense Sark wants us to have. He mentioned giving up too many explosive plays and easy yards were big issues - I agree. He wants to attack the QB and for the DBs to play tighter so that we are not giving up easy 5-6 yards every down. I am cool with that philosophy.

The other part of the rationale is for him to focus more on offense. Since he is not giving up playcalling duties, I think this is the second best outcome.

Overall, I am not displeased with this decision. Let's see if it works out the way he is hoping it would.

No and that’s the problem, if sark was already fully committed to the offense then wtf does firing PK solve? Nobody believed PK was the problem but sark scapegoated him anyway in a press conference. It’s regarded. Our defenses were capable of winning a championship, our red zone offenses were dog shit and we can’t score against good competition.

Please stop. You're way off. Everyone in CFB understands that Muschamp can't cut it as HC, probably including Muschamp himself.

Sark hired Muschamp because he was always his #1 choice, and the timing finally worked out.

Yes. This is the future imo he has always envisioned for himself as a HC. In his words, it may not make sense from the outside but you get under the hood and it does. This is a clear view into his thinking.

I do not care for Sark’s statements per PK. We had a top 15 defense statistically over the past 3 years. Our defense in 2024 ranked statistically 3rd in most categories which was good enough to win it all with QE at the helm. Same for the offense.

This year the defense was ranked statistically overall 13th which was good enough to make the playoffs.

our defense overall wasn’t the some glaring issue the past three years.  Quite the opposite. PK was easily year over year the best coordinator and coach on the field imo.

Now let’s look under the hood at Sark’s offense the last three years.

in 2023 with QE as QB: Rank: 120th out of 133 FBS teams in touchdown percentage (around 50.8%), 89th in overall red zone efficiency. One could absolutely say with confidence PK carried Sark like a baby in 2023. Not the other way around. Period. No other way to see it.

in 2024 with an elite top 3 defense our offense was was also Ranked near the top nationally (e.g., 2nd or 3rd at times), scoring touchdowns on over 88% of trips early in the season. This was our year to clinch the title. Mistakes, penalties and poor red zone play calling against a superior OSU team kept us from the title imo. Both sides did well in 2024. Big claps for both OC and DC here though. The future looks bright for 2025!

Sark phoned in the winter offseason and most definitely most of spring offseason. Doesn’t plug the obvious holes on the oline with the portal. The holes we all noticed under QE that got him hurt multiple times. Sark Missed Junior Day. He Scuttles the spring game and decides to go to no contact and light contact NFL type practices which do not allow for QBs to call 140 scripted plays and also doesn’t allow for good evaluation of things and players that could potentially be problematic for the offense and the defense come the regular season. Sark said he admires how the NfL does shit and wanted to emulate that. So who carried who this year?

in 2025 with Arch on a painful learning struggling behind a shit O-line and struggling behind a god awful RB room our offense ranked Around 54th in the nation in red zone TD rate (63.8% by late September) and 104th mid-season (55%). By contrast by all statistical measurements PK’s unit finished 13th in the FBS for 2025. Once again our defense was good enough to make the playoffs. It was our offense that was NOT. Two out of the last three years it was PK’s unit that CARRIED SARK.

In short,  I thought PK represented Texas well. It was NOT necessary for Sark to give any more than the standard statement to describe his departure. And wish him well. And to thank PK.

PK had fuckall to do with the O-line, plugging the holes on the o-line, the RBs and the substandard play calling at times or the penalties on offense.

All Sark had to do was act like Tex on the automated phone system back in the day and say good luck and goodbye and thanks for fielding statistically a damn good defense while he was here.

He could have said things differently, he chose not to. He’s either blind to his own failures the past couple of years on offense or he is just being a dick here or he’s a blind dick.

Muschamp will do his job. I believe that. Sark better do his. Or he will get a far worse and absolutely deserved write up from the sports media than the complete bullshit he just had to say about PK.

People can finger paint it any color they want. PK had a great past three years and by contrast Sark had a great 2024. So much so he thought he could phone in the 2025 season. No more excuses Sarkisian. No more. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Not to get in an argument but you think Muschamp was put out to pasture?

Also, taking PK out of it, you don’t think Muschamp could give us a bump in portal and high school recruiting? He seems to be connected and has always brought energy in those areas.
