Gomers to the B10 would be great. I endorse this move 100 percent. Seeing the USC Song Girls beside the Hee Haw Rejects would be priceless.

Threatening to go back to College Station?  To the aggys?  That's some can't-miss aggy leverage, right there.

Gomers to the Big 10? lol. Sixty years ago USC got rid of the all male "yell leaders."

It will never happen. They don't want the aggys.

The USC Song Girls

In the fall of 1919, first-year USC student Lindley Bothwell became the university’s first “yell leader.” Bothwell and a few friends decided to create their own cheers to pump up the crowd at football games. The tradition stuck.

Nearly 50 years after the yell leaders were born, the sole spirit squad at USC was still reserved for men only. Students voted overwhelmingly in 1967 to allow women to join the spirit group. Auditions were held, and seven women were chosen for the inaugural 1968 team.

The Song Girls would become much more than a spirit squad during the decades that followed. They became the wholesome, smiling faces of college football, appearing on broadcasts and movie screens, in commercials and in magazines, more bright-eyed ambassadors than college cheerleaders. As the Song Girls were immortalized as Southern California fixtures, the program remained steeped in its traditions. To this day, their uniform of white sweaters, pleated skirtsand red shoes — first worn for a Texaco commercial in 1973 — remains largely unchanged.

On Shemar Stewart topic, Mike Florio (ProFootballTalk/NBC) did a write up on his options based on current rules/laws. From the college side, NCAA could rule him ineligible, but we are in the NIL era where "signing with an agent" happens in high school so Stewart didn't really do anything during the draft process that pulled in benefits he couldn't have got from aggy or another program. NCAA may not fight this and show how toothless they are, plus it could a new wave of college players trying to pull shit without consequence before a de-pantsed NCAA. Florio went on to say he thinks the Transfer Portal rules wouldn't hold up if challenged in court and players could/should be able to "work" as independent employees and contractors and could transfer any time, any where they want (they'd just have to be enrolled before the season to be eligible). So in theory, Stewart could also go to any college he wanted next year if someone bid more than aggy.

From the NFL side, previously if a drafted player held out, they'd become a free agent after one year (the next draft). But the rule is written that it's one year/draft after they are ineligible for college football. Up until now, it was assumed any drafted player is ineligible to play college again so their rights are owned by the drafting team for one year. In the Stewart scenario if he went back to college, the Bengals would continue to own his draft rights until one year after his college eligibility expires. If he plays for aggy in 2025, he would not be draft eligible in April 2026 because the Bengals own his rights. He'd have to actually not play college football for a year to become a free agent. Or more realistically, they come to a contract agreement or the Bengals trade his rights to a team that will.

Much as I enjoy laughing at A&M's persistent buffoonery, I think the rule that once someone declares for the draft he is no longer eligible to play college football is silly.  I would put that point of no return at the signing of his NFL contract.

Elko pulling up the rear on the podium today.  Will they cry about aggy going last at Media Days?  "Sankey hates us" "We get no respect" "Lets go to the Big 10".

Will we hear "Texas Fight"?

Fuck that. NFL draft picks are exceedingly valuable. Giving the player the leverage that comes with an option to return to college is crap.

You can do it in baseball, and that would be the low hanging fruit a lawyer would point out.

You can also carry a bat in baseball. Maybe Shemar’s attorney could argue for that as well.

Don’t care, as long as they play “Texas Fight” when they introduce him!

SIAP…if already posted.

We pissed aggy off by coming in and being good and making them look inept by comparison.

You know, a Tuesday.

He also talked a bit about Amari Niblack. Mentioned Amari’s time at Bama. Never a thing about Texas where he came from when they got him. Of course, he didn’t do much while he was here, but…
