I was slow to start S4 due to rewatching S3, which is easily my least favorite. My biggest gripe was too much screen time given to the idiot Fak brothers. They were good for snippets of comedic relief in S1-2 but not multiple lengthy scenes per episode of childish arguments. Second gripe was what felt like manufactured drama with everyone and the odd tease of Sydney leaving for a restaurant that doesn’t exist yet with a partner she barely knows.

I’m through 6 episodes of S4 and really enjoying it so far. Less time for Faks and more time elevating other characters like Ebraheim and Gary has been much appreciated. The inter-character drama seems more authentic and feels like we are actually building towards something. Also liking the addition of Ever castoffs and Luca. Good stuff.

Ep 7 - Bears is over an hour. I have a good feeling about it.

He made you a great offer. Suck his fuckin balls

hahaha

That scene was hilarious.

And I gotta say I’m shocked to not see any mention of Rob Reiner being amazing as Albert (cursory search). He was just perfect in his role. It was great stuff.

He was really good.  Unlike the John Cena cameo from S3 which sucked and felt too forced.

Finished season 4 last night. I really enjoyed it. I think they brought things back around nicely. Not sure why Ayo is so disliked on here but I thought she did great. Syd is high functioning neurotic/probably autistic like Carmy. I think a lot of characters grew and this was about processing and dealing with their traumas. Interested to see where season 5 goes but I feel like we're going to wait a bit given the main 3 have loaded schedules coming up. The scene with Carmy and Lee in the kitchen was so well done. Lee went from being a bastard to someone who helped further un-stick Carmy. That scene allowed the final scene with Carmy, Syd, and Richie to happen and it was masterful.

It was a great finale, but I shared Syd's "what the fuck" reaction over Carmy walking away from the restaurant.  I understand the point that being a chef and chasing the grind of operating Michelin-rated restaurants was Carmy's way of running from everything, and it's going to make for an interesting Season 5 storyline of Carmy looking to do something other than cook.  But The Bear is quitting The Bear?

S4 didn't have the same magic as S1 and S2, but a lot more cohesion and story development than S3.  And some folks might think all the feel-good reconciliation in S4, which is a sharp turn from all of the conflict and "fuck-you" moments in prior seasons, was too schmaltzy or contrived.  But I really liked it.
