Wishing Quinn the best. While he didn't live up to his potential as the #1 recruit in the nation for whatever reasons (injuries included), there is no question that he gave his all for Texas. Good luck in the NFL!

OK, that's a bit disingenous.  He was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and a 2-time Pro Bowl selection.  Jeff Fisher did him no favors.

That was the point. The NFL doesn't believe in people for many dumb reasons that are out of control of the player and either never draft them or do them wrong when they do. Doesn't mean the player wasn't good.

You’re comparing Greg ward to Vince young.

OK, that is USDA Grade A Horse Shit.

Well, not in the sense most people think. Not for an entire game. There were plays and series where he did absolutely lead the team like you think. I just don’t think that’s him. That’s probably a lot less of a concern in the NfL because they’re supposed to be professionals.

The claim was "never".  It's just a beating dealing with these binary black/white points of view when the real world is WAY more complicated than their brains can handle.

lol yeah, you’re just a bastion of nuance and complexity, and definitely not a lizard brained, reactive, hypersensitive goober who loses his mind at every opposing pov he comes across. (hopefully you’re picking up on my sarcasm because i’m laying it on pretty thick).

it’s pretty hard to lead your team when you’re like the 16th best guy among the 22 starters, and even harder to lead the team when, as a qb, you have zero moxie, are afraid to get hit, and you miss more easy plays than you make something out of nothing. the all time greats- VY, Colt, Street- they were obvious leaders. but even guys like major applewhite, james brown, and sam ehlinger LED their teams- both on the field and off- more than QE ever did. it’s simply not who he is, in any way. so you can keep talking shit and being super emotional in every single post you make, but it won’t change reality. QE was never a guy to lead his team. he’s a lot more simms than applewhite.

I'm saying that Houston already discovered Greg Ward, put him in play, and went 6 and 2 down the stretch before Tom Herman got there. The fact that you didn't know that is why you were so impressed with Tom Herman at UH. Herman had a good 1st year and then when teams had some tape on him the next year he came back to earth but you guys had already bought your tix to the shit show.

So what’s Charlie’s excuse?

first, please somebody summarize all the draft predictions everyone made in here and contrast it to the actual draft results?

that would be hilarious.  anybody can deploy AI to do it?

If someone like Sean Payton had gotten ahold of VY I think his NFL career would've gone very differently. Instead he got stuck with a mediocre fucktard as his coach.

VY is with a handful of other QBs whose career might have been significantly different if they came along 10 years later.

The right place at the right time is quite significant.  For much of this Longhorn roster that is the case.  I’m not sure there’s ever been a time when competition has been higher or profiles have been elevated more at Texas than now.

And there are far more coaches that are able to bring you down than lift you to your maximum potential.

I'm not 100% sure of your angle with this question, but I see tons of parallels between Strong and Herman. The biggest one being Teddy Bridgewater making it look like Charlie could coach.

This, NFL then tried to force square pegs into round holes with QBs. There was no offensive creativity.

Team dependent.  The Falcons let Michael Vick do what he did.  Then, he killed some dogs.

He was still running pro style offense, they just let him use his legs when he wanted. They didn't design an offense or tailor an offense to his skills.

Well, the guy ran for 1000 yards one season.  That's a little more than "they just let him use his legs when he wanted".  It was a pretty profound shift in QB style of play.  (And VY wasn't Vick, to be sure.)

Exactly. Perhaps VY didn't live up to some expectations as a #3 pick but that doesn't exactly equate to "didn't work out." He went 30-17 in 47 starts. 9000 yards passing, 1400 rushing. Accounted for 58 TDs.  Colt played for double the years but his stats are much lower. Who's to say who had a better NFL career.

Obviously if the success bar is starting QB super bowl rings, HoF, most passing yards, etc., then few make it to that level.

I don’t think they could have stopped him.

So, Quinn at times was a very frustrating QB for Texas. He definitely didn’t live up to his recruiting ranking. However……

He’s currently projected to be the SEVENTH QB taken. This is stunning to me. I’ve flipped. I’m now declaring that Quinn will be the steal of the entire NFL draft.

The bastard Jeff Fisher fucked VY over and its one of the most complete fuck overs ever.  Living in Nashville I saw it first hand.  Any thing that could make look VY good, Fisher did the opposite.  JF is a mother fucking piece of shit.

i like how chris simms, vince young, colt mccoy, and sam ehlinger have had limited success in the nfl, but quinn fucking ewers, the guy who isn’t good at *anything*, is going to be “the steal of the draft.” you guys are absolutely nuts. completely blinded by the burnt orange, and, his HS rankings from when he was 16. it’s just crazy.

Add Shadeur Sanders too.  “Experts” had him possibly going #1 or in the top 10.  Didn’t really work out for him now did it.

You clearly have no concept of what "apoplectic" means.  Settle down, Nancy.  I'm sorry I missed one.  "Two guys".  Good enough?  Is that an indictment of all your virtual enemies you underdeveloped manchild?

all you do is talk shit and whine. zero accountability, zero self awareness. no earnest desire for conversation or debate, just emotions and shit talk, all page every page.

I hope you get the help that you clearly need.  You have been on a manic bender for a couple of weeks now, and we all see it.  I feel badly that you suffer this way, but this is not the arena you should be playing in.

I think most people, even Ewers supporters, think he’d be a quality backup at best. I don’t see anyone thinking he’ll be playing significantly.

It's pretty clear he'll never be a "wow" starter, whether that's in the Mahomes mold or the Brady mold.  I think he might suffice in a system that only asks him to manage the game.  People talk about his arm, and honestly, I think that's the least of his problems.  It's a pretty effective arm even for most pro throws.  I think his inability to navigate in and out of the pocket along with his crazy tendency to get hurt will kill his long-term chances at the next level.  But hey, I'm just a fanboi.

Well, I’d like to say his risk of getting hurt is a knock against him and then Shough gets drafted in round 2…so yeah.

Shough actually played a full year healthy this past season which shot him up the draft since now GMs know he can stay healthy. Ewers still hasn’t been able to play a full season due to health issues since his sophomore year in high school, and GMs don’t want to pay a guy who will be on injured reserve a good chunk of the season. Ewers likely should have stayed in college until he completed a full season healthy, whether that be at Texas or somewhere else.

In retrospect, he should have left last season so he didn't put up another season of injury play...

I believe injury is why he'll go late. He has too much arm talent. Some team with a decent OL will grab him as a backup.

Good grief, not only are your sarcasm meters broken, I’m thinking they were never installed. You are so wound up over your argument you didn’t even notice the post was sarcastic.
