Fuck, dude. Are you really like this outside of your message board tough guy persona? You need to look into Hinduism and check yourself. You take shit too seriously for anyone to take you seriously.

Fuck off with your negative bullshit. It's in every fucking thread. You just have to take a shit on someone and thump your chest. Fucking chill the fuck out for a change.

It went from seven win Steve to moving the goal posts. Give it a rest, already.

You’ve been around since Hornfans, right?

A bad throw on a fade route is (nearly) always just an incompletion. A bad throw on a quick out can easily be jumped and go the other way.

It’s a low percentage play but can make sense in some circumstances (young QBs in the Redzone, low percentage 3rd downs). Always viewed the play to be more about the WR than the QB. You got a guy like M Irvin and I can see it being part of the offense. Someone big and crafty (his patented push off) that is a beast in 50/50 situations. Nobody on the current roster has shown that ability though.

Couldn't you also say that about a run?

You probably think Bill Snyder is very mid, too. 27 years with only two conference championships. No national titles.

Compare what coaches did before and after Leach at Texas Tech, Washington State, and Mississippi State. I find your measurements for success in sports across the board on every sport you choose to opine about to be unreasonably excessive. It makes me wonder if the people around you measure your successes and failures similarly, and let you know about it on a daily basis.

They do here.

Seems like Benjamin has been slip sliding away. I guess Oregon is just going to take 13 safeties this cycle.

The other thing about Mike Leach that some forget is the fact he installed the offense at OU that won the national champsionship for them in 2000 under Mangino as OC, and led to their Big 12 success for so many years.

Lanning must have taken “How to sign a Paper Tiger Recruiting Class; Overload on Safeties and WRs” at the “Tom Herman School of Roster Development”

Damn. It's like nobody knows their history.

Everyone knows the fucking quote, dude. It doesn’t change the fact that, particularly in today’s modern age of football, it is an outdated and bad take. And trying to legitimately use it to justify modern football behavior is rightly mocked.

The dude didn’t give a fuck about defense, so excuse me for not placing some coach who again never won shit and doesn’t even have a conference title on his resume. Perhaps if he was a better HC he could have at least won a conference title. The only reason yall like him as much as you do here is his philosophical shit and his anti Aggie rants

he was 9-4 v. aggy and drove them insane

Fucking Red October. Quentin Griffin just scored again.

Compare that blOU coaching staff to the one Mack had put together. Despite arriving at Texas a year earlier, Mack's was far inferior, especially on the defensive side of the ball. blOU had Mangino and Leach running their offense and Venables + Stoops on the defensive side, while we had GDGD and Bull Reese bumblefucking around.

Lets me ask you this sir?  Do you know who the HC was at Tech before him?  Or can you name all the head coaches in the big 12 when he took over the program.

Im guessing more than 90% of this board couldn't name half on a good day without google.

But you know Mike Leach. He was an offensive innovator in the sport and had a huge personality.

That might not have equaled wins. But the Leach tree is big and significant. His contribution to the game can't be denied.

Love him or hate him, his was a name. Be it his contribution or his personality.

He might not have been someone a Bluebliod would hire. But tech and ol miss put butts in the seats.  And produced an entertaining product.

And I really think that's the most we can ask from those kinda schools.

I’ll take a stab. I need something to distract me from my wife’s driving.

frank Solich, Bill Snyder, Mike Gundy, Bob Stoops, Mack Brown, Mike Sherman…in drawing a blank on Kansas and Iowa State, I’ll take a stab that Missouri was Gary Pinkel, obligatory fuck Gary Barnett, and Baylor was either Guy Morris’s or Kevin Steele. I think Steele. And of course Leach replaced Spyke Dykes.

of course Kansas at could be the Ron Prince era, and maybe Nebraska had already moved onto Pelini Piss Pants.

im guessing I got at least 2/3 of that right.

The fun thing about this site to me is the characters. Once you kind of get a handle on who is who, everything kind of clicks onto place. The dumb shits consistency and reliability say dumb shit, but in a way it’s sort of nice. Kind of comforting in a strange way.

It’s a relief when certain posters, especially BOW but others as well, disagree with me on here. It’s a better confirmation of how right I am than just about anything else.

what’s funny is that with a lot of posters - futureman, helobious- Im fairly confident that it’s a bit or that they’re trolling. BOW definitely likes to troll, but he’s bad enough at it that you can tell when he’s being serious. I honestly doubt that hes that big of an asshole IRL, but on here hes something special.

I would be honestly shocked if 90% of the people on this board dont remember Spike Dykes. First, because you’re all old as shit, and second, because his son is coaching at TCU.

Pretty sure Les Miles was still in Stillwater, Dan McCarney was in a corn maze, and RC was still in the pasture, but otherwise looks pretty good…and Steele for Baylor. Can’t remember who was at Kansas before Mangino because Glen Mason was already gone by then…right?

My biggest difficulty was that I don’t know when leach was named coach at tech. The difference in coaches between 2000 and 2002 or 2003 makes a difference.

I didn’t think he was even on the national champs. That he installed and jetted, but that’s can’t be right now that I think about it.
Someone left after a year- right?

I dunno. It might been before that. Part of me wants to say he was just at OU a year, and stoops first year was 1999.

Was driving me nuts, so I looked it up, and yes, he was only at OU for one season. Our list of 2000 big 12 coaches was good save for Bob Simmons at Oklahoma State, Terry Allen at Kansas, and Larry Smith at Missouri.
