Love that stance

Thank tbone.  I have a few quibbles on it.  My electric parking brake started acting funny after I got home.  Feels like maybe a short in the switch.  I have also found a pretty significant power steering fluid leak.  Apart from that though, all's well.

There's always something though.

I don’t know what the first gen ps system looks like, but if it is anything like the 67-68 system, welcome to my hell.

It's this kit:

That’s the integral Borgeson conversion. There are like 20 fewer failure points in the conversion unit compared to the stock ps setup. Should be relatively straightforward to determine where the leak is.  I considered the borgeson swap but decided to make one attempt at keeping it stock. My problem is with the routing of the lines. I have a 289 but mechanic decided to do the big block routing due to non original header clearance issues and did a hackish job.

gearheads are everywhere:

Quote

The Sevilles, once assembled in Iran, represented the height of luxury in the country just before the 1979 Islamic Revolution. General Motors had partnered with an Iranian firm to build the sedans, selling them for two-and-a-half times the price in America at the zenith of the country’s oil wealth.

Today, Khosro Dahaghin’s passion for restoring the cars means he carefully examines each frame, component and stitch of the Sevilles in Iran, a challenge that’s only grown as parts become scarce, the vehicles get older and as the country faces U.S. sanctions over its nuclear program.

“The most luxurious and the most special car that was assembled in Iran was Cadillac Iran,” Dahaghin told The Associated Press as he wore a necklace bearing the iconic Cadillac crest. “The first time this car was assembled outside U.S soil was in Iran. At that time I can say no other brand could rival this car in any aspect imaginable.”

That fucking PS system is a big part of why I  ended up getting rid of my 67 after 30 years.

Ran across this is the old area of a small coast village in greece. I was shocked when they pulled the thing up the cobble stone path that it fit the narrow streets.

My brother has a 1984 MB 300TD with about 80,000 miles on the clock sitting in his garage. It looks as new as that one.
Champagne color with tan interior.
He drives it around a little once every two weeks or so just to keep in from rotting.
He is the second owner - bought it from his friend in 1988 for $20,000 when it had 40,000 on it.
Literally a Sunday “going to church car” until the pandemic hit.

MG TF 1500.
In the Spring of 1954 when we were sailing into NYC harbor after a four year hitch in Puerto Rico, I saw probably a hundred or more of those lined up on a dock, apparently they had just been offloaded from a Brit freighter for the American market.

Any of you ever been to a Good Guys meet?  There's one coming up in Fort Worth and I'm thinking about heading over there.  For those who've been, any thoughts/tips?
https://good-guys.com/lsn

Been many times to the one in Scottsdale. Actually used to have coffee on a somewhat regular basis at a cars & coffee back in the day in Cave Creek with the guy who started Goodguys, Gary Meadors before he passed away a few years ago. He always had great stories, and great cars.

No real tips you need to know. Just go and enjoy.

Never again will I buy someone else's project, especially in boxes. Talk about a trove of unknowns when it comes to parts, half they time there not even the right parts for that car. Nope, nope...not doing it.

*cross-posting to the modern car thread too

So I had one of those days the other day when my personal email inbox was overflowing with promotional emails from companies that I've done business with, events I've participated in, etc., and somehow the glut was like a Black Friday shitshow.

So I went through and unsubscribed to 50 or so emails that I don't need to receive regularly. One of them was from California Car Cover, and they had a little box on the Unsubscribe page asking for my reason why I want off their list.

I've been very pleased with the two covers of theirs that I use to protect my summer cars during their winter hibernation (1971 Buick Skylark convertible; 2016 E63s AMG wagon) and I told them as much, and how I simply don't need another until I hit the lottery and can build another garage to store cars in, or until I swap one of them out of the rotation, which I never intend to do. And as such, I no longer needed their regular email correspondence or their print catalogs, but that if I ever needed another cover, that I wouldn't go anywhere else.

A few minutes ago, I got an email from someone at the company thanking me for my kind words, and telling me that he didn't see a car duster in my order history, so they were going to send me one free of charge.

Really nice to see, and the kind of goodwill towards customers that I think has become all too rare these days.

Their products are top notch, and their service is very attentive - when I ordered my AMG cover, I put a little note on the order form about how I installed a standing star hood ornament rather than the more flush-mounted stock style, and they called me in advance of constructing my order to talk about how to adjust for that. Even though it now required non-stock measurements, they drew it up and didn't change me a penny extra.

Anyway, just wanted to give some context for plugging a company that I'm truly happy to do business with.

Check them out if you're in the market: https://www.calcarcover.com/

What primer was it and what was the issue? I'm going to do my own paint if I ever get the rest of the car ready for it.

Debeer high build primer and whatever filler they used. I’m pretty sure they should have used a standard primer as the base layer and then mabe the filler and high build

But if this one came with boxes of machine guns, oil jets, bullet proof shield, ejection seat etc you’d take it home right?
