He should run as an independent. It would be interesting to see which party that hurts more if Trump is the Republican nominee.

You didn't need to repeat it.  I understood what you wrote originally.  It just makes no fucking sense.  Yeah, let's do a fun political experiment when this country and its foundations are on shaky ground at best.

Newsflash:  The pendulum swings back and forth.

Which is why Donald Trump isn't all that concerning from a political standpoint.

Democrats will be in charge  of Washington soon enough. They already are in the House.

Thankfully, Donald Trump is damaging the Republican brand enough to make the Democrats reign longer than it would have been without him. So, that's cool.

Last point probably more depends on the course of action chosen.

Memories are short.

Trump really is the Humpty Dumpty of the GOP.

It’s going to be a challenge to put that party back together once he comes crashing down but I’m sure they’ll figure it out eventually.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again

There's already a huge wave of Obama nostalgia. People can't wait to get the orange shitbag out of the White House.

The Democrats are in a great position for 2020.

Which doesn’t have much to do with my point.

Assuming D pres win, or Pres and Senate the following 2 years will have far more to do with mid-terms than “orange shitbag”.

What the Republicans fail to realize is Trump’s brand of politics isn’t attracting the best and brightest young people to fight for GOP causes like in the years past.

Trump is alienating an entire generation of good conservative leaders and/or inspiring them to become democrats.

The pendulum does swing back and forth but Trump is in the process of disabling the whole thing.

As for the 2020 midterms the Senate map is tough for Republicans. Then after repairing the gerrymandering in 2021 the Democrats could pick up 10 to 20 seats in the house negating whatever gains Republicans might get.

The other question is what platform can Republicans use in 2020? Racism? Tax cuts for the rich? Blocking healthcare for pre-existing conditions? Selling out to the Russians and Chinese? Those have already run their course.

This isn’t just regular pendulum swinging stuff.  Many are hopeful that the pendulum has been knocked off of the chain (and of course will be replaced with another that will swing), but it could be that it is simply a violent swing.  But if you think this is just normal back and forth you are as wrong about that as you are about everything else.

I’m sure Beto just does these videos for fun and has no intention of running for POTUS.

/sarcasm

How sweet would it be watching Ted Cruz spend his last four years as Senator under the Beto O’Rourke Administration?

The video is also more professional than most of his Senate stuff. I am guessing he will announce in 7 to 14 days.

That's the kind of non specific complaint that is often leveled at Hillary.

No offense, but I don't feel the need to go over 8 years of his administration, such as it was.  He is all hat and no cattle.   All talk and very little substance.  Plus, he is an entitled son in a prominent New Orleans political family, but is the laziest and dumbest of the many siblings.

If he gets the nomination he won't win Louisiana.    That should be all the info you need.

Yeah and I am sure the GOP war machine won't be able to unearth even a whiff of sleazy, meat and potatoes corruption that is easy enough for even the most slack-jawed of yokels to grasp and condemn.

All I really know about him is he won in a majority black city and took down some statues. That seems to be the sum total of his accomplishments. Martin O'Malley Lite.

What is going to happen in 2020 is that you are going to have Beto, and two other contenders. that's my early prediction.  The primary reason. Beto is a "white" Hispanic.  Race means nearly nothing to me personally but there are a shit ton of white people who profess that they are not racist, but in the end, they vote for somebody that looks like them.  So Beto will "look" the part. His physical appearance will allow him to speak to the white working class, and they will not be threatened by potential 'brownness.'

Huh?

she missed her window and she fucked up taking the bait on the Indian thing

It’s funny people thing anything relating to the Indian thing is enough to sink her.

As if that really changed anyone’s opinion of her.

Just because people are saying it was a fuck up, doesn’t make it so.

I think it was wise of her to lay it all out there on that issue when she did, short term political consequences be damned.

It gives her plenty of time to overcome the setback and takes the issue off the table.

No, it was dumb. It has nothing to do with the issue itself, she's shouldn't be burning cycles to take back territory she doesn't want or need. I think she's a good senator and we need those.

I wish she had run against Hillary Clinton in 2016  because we would all be much better off, but she didn't and that's why she won't be president.

If Sally Yates decided to run I would very likely vote for her despite my being largely libertarian. She is a Constitutionalist and there is much evidence to support her being an individual who would work to make things right that trump has been massively fucking up.

I like her as well. Smart, tough woman.

This.... More she missed her window.  I actually like her, but she'd need 3/4 candidates to really shit the bed at this juncture.  When the Dems take the Senate back, she'd make a good head of Finance.  Hope she takes her platform to continue to go after Trump and not other candidates.

No one on the left could have beaten Hillary in the primary. I don't understand that she missed her window. With Hillary losing, it makes the case stronger for a woman President. Conservatives only have the bs Indian joke that will run out quickly given the amount of scandals on the right.

In what way?  2016 showed that most of America will hold their nose and vote for a conman instead of the bossy old lady.  Nobody fucking cared about the emails, they just used it as justification to vote against Hillary.  The Native American thing will be the emails of 2020, if given the opportunity.

Nonsense. she was nearly beaten by a 74 year old Independent Socialist with no money and no party insider support. Biden would have crushed her and Warren probably would have beaten her close.
She was more of a sure thing in 2008, which she was beaten by an inexperienced black man named Hussein. She creates dumb scandals. She hires bad staff. She runs bad campaigns. Democrats don't like Hillary Clinton and leftists can't stand her. She's a really bad candidate.

They voted against the Clinton name not a woman. Conservatives spent 20 years demonizing Hillary and the Clinton's.

We learned that the core supporters of Republicans will create a fake scandal to justify their actions but that doesn't mean it actually impacted broader voting.

She isn't cool like Bernie was able to create a false persona which contrasted well against Hillary. She may have run a poor campaign but staffing changes / decisions can be improved, but I'd argue no top talent would go to Lizzy in 2008 because all the air was sucked out due to the assumed election of Hillary.

I wonder how much the Dems are talking to each other and making a global game plan.

As in, let's put Warren out there first, since Trump won't be able to resist taking racist shots at her and it'll dominate the early election cycle news.  Then when America is tired of that, we'll come in with Kamala or Beto and hammer him on the issues, possibly with a stock market that's struggling in '19.

You’re still operating in a world where standards are applied equally to both parties? You’re adorable.
The GOP is slavishly devoted to a man who does or reveals something disqualifyingly stupid/unethical 2x a day, every day....but will devote 5,000 hours of Fox coverage, and coordinated internet attacks, on a dem who had an overdue library book back in 78.
“LIBRARYGATE!” We need senate hearings to get to the bottom of this!
Warren will be destroyed because that’s what the GOP is very good at - destroying people over things that pale in comparison to the open and obvious sins of their God. But those aren’t sins, because God can’t sin. QED. And there you have it.
