I heard a great interview this morning on ON with Kara Swisher. She interviewed Adam Becker who just wrote More Everything Forever: AI Overlords, Space Empires, and Silicon Valley's Crusade to Control the Fate of Humanity. I think the name isn't very good, but the basis of the book is that Silicon Valley and the tech bros are trying to sell us this vision of the future which is nothing more than what they see in Science Fiction and doesn't have an sort of basis in reality. Examples:
AI - the companies talk about Artificial General Intelligence, but few of them define it. Those that do have very vague answers. Case in point the Open AI charter:
OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI)—by which we mean highly autonomous systems that outperform humans at most economically valuable work—benefits all of humanity.
What the hell is that? Why does it have to be economically valuable work? Etc.
Travel to Mars - I mean he basically calls this pure fantasy. Reduced of gravity, lack of air, lack of usable soil - hell all of the soil is damn poison, lack of radiation protection that the Earth has. Elon talks about terra-forming - really cool in films, but totally implausible in any near future.
Anyway a really good listen, I recommend it.

Now hear me out: what if we used nanotechnology to quickly screen blood for all sorts of diseases with just a drop or two? Billion dollar idea.

Elon is doing his best to make sure that his users become unfuckable in ways you can’t even imagine.

Elon Musk has just unveiled “Companions,” a new feature for his AI chatbot, Grok, that allows users to interact with AI personas. These include Ani, a gothic anime girl who communicates with emojis, flirtatious messages, and facts, as well as Rudy, a friendly red panda.

I mean, might as well put this label on all of his products, platforms, etc.:

Unleashing an AI goth waifu is cognitive warfare against the socially disadvantaged and resentful. We are not ready for what we are doing to our society.

Just wait until the flirty girlfriend bot starts asking “wouldn’t it be great if we killed all the Jews?”

AI promises are much more realistic than Mars. Mars is the ultimate scam. Sure, we can send a few people to the surface inside milliondollar radiation suits but that's the extent of what we'll be able to do. Any permanent mars settlement will not be with organic humans.

Tesla's top North America sales chief executive is leaving after 15 years.  Would be interested to see how.many top executives left before other notable companies imploded. Seems like quite a few with Tesla recently.

I thought it might be a sign of corporate trouble too but then I realized @Guadaloopyis the backfill.

I know the recruiter. Standard Elon package: Huge salary, you commit to two years or full clawback, and when you leave he tweets about how you love to take hugeblackcock.
