Tickets for the Shriners Showdown at Globe Life Field are now available.  Texas will get the last game all 3 nights (Fri, Sat, and Sun).  I'm planning on going but will have to see how Dad recovers and check his interest before I commit to buy.

Globe Life Field | Shriners Children’s College Showdown

Remember, nothing says "I love you" like a baseball at Globe Life.

thanks might take my dad up there for this one

He was fired because he's dog shit.

This is when I knew we were turning the program around. I don't give a shit that he's been to 2 CWS. He is dog shit and stupid to boot. Who denies Paul Skenes (who wanted to come here) because he wanted to divide the NIL amongst the entire team, including the shitty players. He legit told Skenes he doesn't do NIL that way, so Skenes went to LSU and won a championship. What a fucking idiot.

I will never forgive that idiot for that. Ever. He's on my shit list with Herman and late years Mack.

Is that really what happened with Skenes?

Yes, it is. It came down to us and LSU, and when he approached Pierce about coming to Texas and gave him his asking price, Pierce told him that he divides NIL to all the players, not just the ones who perform well. Skenes said Okie dokie and LSU matched his price so he went there.

Who in their right mind divided up NIL to all players, even ones with one foot out the door, and they make the same as Flores. Flores getting the same as some bench warmer is criminal. How the hell do you turn down a talent like Skenes, even if it means you have to make a decision that's hard for you? We needed pitchers, and he turned him down because his asking price was "too much" and "all plauers deserve the same".

Imagine Casey Cain making the same as Worthy or Mitchell? How much would that piss you off? Because that's what Pierce did. He handicapped us, which is why we were a middling to lower-level team who got beat by Texas State.

Would also like to know this

It actually happened. I'm trying to remember if I saw a video on it or if I found an article about it. I'm pretty sure I saw a video on it with some baseball guy talking about it. I think his asking prince was $1m?

Sounds right. Looking forward to Gaspo this year. Should take the next step. Keep forgetting Schuessler. He’ll be a beast at first.

Say what you will about DP, but he brought in a good young core. Galvan, gaspo, Flores, Belyeu, borba, ace and Howard are a good core to build around. I’m feeling an Omaha team here. Gonna be a fun season.

Pierce was a good recruiter, no doubt about that. He just has moral issues and was like Mack in the NIL era. Except bleeding for the program, everyone gets a  slice so they don't go hungry and play better to get better NIL deals. It's why we went something like 36-24 and didn't host a regional in like 2-3 years.

It just seems logical though that the higher your draft class is rated, the greater the chances are that you lose pieces to the draft

And it helps show other recruits that Texas is the place to be with all these highly rated kids choosing Texas.

Sorry for so many posts, but I'm excited for this year. Schloss can build a program and can win a NC or 5. He's a dude. #2 class in 2025 and #1 in 2026. He's a builder and a teacher. We'll be back to being regulars hosting regionals and making trips to Omaha. We're in good hands thanks to All state

Makes sense. I thought Skenes was a lock to Texas and then it just seemingly crumbled

Yep, I thought the same until I read/saw how Piece handled it. He really wanted to come here, but Pierce gonna Pierce. It stings so badly. I don't think I'll get over it any time soon.

Does anybody have any information for sure about the NIL situation with Skenes? I thought we had the best chance to get Skenes and just got outbid by LSU. Maybe closetojumjping has some information on this.

Anyway, who cares? He's gone, Pierce is gone. We got Schloss who will take us to the promised land. His recruiting is second to none.

2025 we needed up #2 behind LSU

2026 we're ranked #1, LSU #2, Tenn #3

Schloss is building a monster and we should be ahead of schedule by next season.

Sark did his part last night and set the standard.  I expect Schloss will do his part and step over it.  They should have a running bet with the loser buying the other dinner for every time one of 'em beats aggy.

He actually took the team to 3 CWS in 7 seasons.

And went 2&Q in 2 out of 3 of those appearances with the last one ending on an embarrassing beatdown at the hands of the guy who replaced him.

Standards.

Maybe you'll eventually get that chicken pregnant.

How far did he get in the other one? 3rd place?

When will the roster be trimmed?  I checked today and it is still over 40 with no changes.

Looking forward to the season.  We have full weekend tickets for the showdown in Arlington.

If the cuts haven't been made already and known to the players, then they most likely will find out over the Christmas break ( at least that is the way it used to be).

Gives the kids time to transfer (JUCO, DII, DIII, NAIA) or enter portal for spring.

Wasn’t there some roster expansion? I know not 40 but something a little higher than what it’s been?

Roster spots have actually gone down for 2025 as of a ruling in July.

34 players now but ALL can be on FULL scholarship (up from the BS 11.7 restriction and mostly only 1/4 scholarship or less)

That timeline seems like what has happened before, but I still feel sorry for them if they are only notified once the semester ends.  That gives you about a month to make contacts at other schools, apply to the school, and prepare to move somewhere else.  It also seems like that are a lot more people on these tentative rosters for the fall than there used to be.  Perhaps I just wasn't paying that much attention before.

For the 2025 Spring season, the roster limit remains at 40.  Starting in the 2026 season its 34 (used to be 35 pre-covid) and, as with all sports, all roster spots are allowed to be on full scholarship.

However, its up to each conference to set their scholarship limit and it looks like everyone will end up being under 34 for baseball.  Talk about the SEC, which will likely allow for the most baseball scholarships, is that they will initially limit it to around 25 full baseball scholarships for 2026.  But, unlike today, the teams will now be able to split that number however they wish among the players.

A key issue still to be determined for 2026 is when the teams must have the roster down to 34.  Some are arguing to have it at 34 before any Fall 2025 practice begins and others want there to be a higher Fall limit and allow the coaches to cut down to 34 sometime during or after Fall 2025 practice.

We does not.  I've got some Tuesday games by the usual suspects... but not the non conference series..

I thought that too but I saw today ( before posting) two sites saying that it was agreed upon this last July to move it back to 34 this year 2025. The NCAA site was painful looking for an update there. Not arguing, I hope it is 40. Just what I saw on the other websites.
