Yeah, @Texasborn91, it doesn't happen like that. Like ever.

It must be done to keep some sort of order. What jail should a transgender person go to? if they haven’t had gender reassignment surgery? Government is the one that allowed all of this to be so misconstrued.  Nobody is saying you cannot live your life as a transgender. Where is the line drawn?

There we go, that's what it always boils down to. You can't outgrow a childish understanding of the world and can't bear any threats to that understanding, and you'll tear the entire world down in a conniption fit thinking you're maintaining order.

What a barren, sunless place your soul must be.

one more post. 3 months ago I wasn't worried about this issue, at all. but even with surgery trans folk are now going to prison in the cell blocks of their birth sex. So, thankfully I make really good money. guess what is actually under consideration in my household...? hiring a permanent driver so that I can reduce my risk of law enforcement interaction to near zero. I'm almost 50 years old. I don't violate the law, so before you say - don't break the law and you'll have nothing to worry about - that's not the risk. The risk is personal animus against me, espeically if my license is now M that one thing leads to another and I'm in jail for personal animus and pretext reasons.... much like African American men.  I'm literally talking to my wife about moving through society with the same strategies as illegal immigrants because of these policies.

This discussion just confirms that for most Trump voters the #1 item on the wish list is punishing those who are different than them. It wasn’t about inflation, government waste, spending money on Ukraine, etc.

The first thing this dumbass mentioned was solving the “gender fiasco”.

That’s why he can declare himself King, throw away the Constitution and these morons will give him a standing ovation.

More than half of people who voted voted for someone other than Donald Trump. There's going to be resistance.

Since we know all roads are leading to the Supreme Court, is there any hope that the court will actually restrain executive power to a meaningful degree and prevent trump from becoming king?

I would think that if they believe that free and fair enough (they clearly side to voter suppression) elections should continue as they have that they wouldn't really want to extend that much power to the next elected Democrat president.  It also seems pretty obvious that trump's policies are going to result in a recession with significant job losses and inflation meaning the republican's chances in 4 years to win an actual presidential election are going to be pretty bad without fraud.

All of this EO action is prelude to the main card.  It's endangered people, making people sick, killing people and taking careers away from many but they obviously don't give a shit about any of that.

What's going to happen with the court?  I personally am maybe 10% hopeful.  I think there will be a 4th judge to side with Sotomayor, Kagan and Jackson.  But you have to peel off two of Roberts, Kavanaugh, Barrett or Gorsuch.  I find that a bit hard to fathom.

You are right, there are always legal challenges to administrations. There are, however, clear distinctions.

“Therefore, in order to improve the administration of the executive branch and to increase regulatory officials’ accountability to the American people, it shall be the policy of the executive branch to ensure Presidential supervision and control of the entire executive branch. Moreover, all executive departments and agencies, including so-called independent agencies, shall submit for review all proposed and final significant regulatory actions to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) within the Executive Office of the President before publication in the Federal Register.”

They already made him a de facto king last year with their immunity ruling. They're not going to challenge him now, they're going to punt and call all this shit a political question that Congress and the White House need to sort out (knowing Congress won't assert itself).

The align perfectly when you realize that thought 1 applies ONLY to non-Republican non-fascist politicians, meaning that thought 2 is not incidental, it is their actual goal.

Texasborn WANTS a fascist authoritarian dictatorship/monarchy.  People like him don't believe in the Republic or the Rule of Law or "all men are equal under and subject to the law" at all. Like, their belief in those things is 0%.  What they ACTUALLY believe is that they/their team should have complete and unchecked power to dictate to those unlike them exactly how things will be, with no resistance or option to dispute the outcome.  And that, of course, makes Texasborn a fascist.  Which anyone reading his posts could tell you.

I don't think the immunity rulings made presidents kings by itself.  But that in conjunction with upcoming cases that could consolidate and wrestle control away from the legislative and judicial branches certainly will.  The court could still stop him.  Don't have much confidence they will, but they still can.

I think there are a lot of people who, if they're being honest, would prefer a "benevolent dictatorship" to any other form of government.  Of course, they presuppose that they would be in the protected  class, which of course most of MAGA would not.

No, it did. I'm not saying they gave him absolute power to rule by decree, but they absolutely made him a de facto king. There's plenty of kings throughout history that had to share power with legislatures. The key thing that made someone a king wasn't absolute legal power, it was legal unaccountability. That's what they gave Trump.

The fact that yall have spent 4 pages and the whole morning arguing about transgender policy is why people have no idea the real bad shit is going on.

This isnt the real issue, it certainly has an impact on a small percentage of the population, but it is mainly to display cruelty, create division and distract the conversation.

People who think like that are modern "conservatives," who have a single foundational belief:

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

That's it.  That's the whole thing.  That's why they want a dictator: because they believe they're members of the "in-group," so they will be both protected and not restricted, but those OTHER people (you know who they are) will get what's coming to them, good and hard.  And, those other people can't do a damned thing about it, because the law only protects REAL Americans, like us in the in-group, right fellas?

People want everything to work and be taken care of by somebody else. Having to constantly be doing elections and having debates on what is the best way to get things to work is exhausting and unpleasant.

But there does not really exist a benevolent dictatorship. No easy way to a fair and just society.

It's the idea that you have a CEO who is looking out for the best things for a company or in this case a country. Which is 100% what America rebelled against, not that George III was an absolute monarchy. Most of our beef was with Parliament.

That's a pretty generous interpretation lol, there's not alot of arguing about policy going on - it's trying to get TB91 to accept the reality of what's happening right now and the consequences of his vote.

Trans policy, as always, is the only thing this kinda person is capable of bringing up. He's not even replying to other prompts or questions.

I mean that’s untrue, but that was a talking point. The reality is that people will vote what they feel is in their best interests. Will do the same shit in 4years. When Biden won last election Republicans bitched about everything. Human nature. The losing side doesn’t like to lose.

It doesn't. Why do you think it does?

Yes, let's break this down.  The only "different" medical care transgender people ask for is treatment for their gender dysphoria, which may include hormones and eventual surgery.

If they receive that treatment, it's because doctors find it medically necessary, or at least justifiable.  If insurance covers it, it's for the same reason.

It's covered for federal prisoners just like their other medical necessities.  But, like other medical necessities for federal prisoners, it is subject to pretty extreme scrutiny by BOP, because they're in the business of denying healthcare whenever they can, 8th Amendment notwithstanding.  They routinely discharge cancer patients rather than foot the bill for their treatment, as their continued incarceration would require.

We wouldn't begin to question other people's medical diagnoses and treatments across the board unless they were "icky trans."  Nor would we accuse the medical community of some vast conspiracy unless it was some lunatic right wing patrioteaglefreedomgun issue.
