But Checo was the worst driver in history.

Yuki and Lawson being nowhere near ready for a big seat doesn't negate Checo being flat out terrible for over a year and a half.

Absolutely insane temper tantrum by Vertsappen. Totally uncalled for.

I also don’t get why his team told him to give the place back. Russell went into the corner too deep and hit Verstappen. No way that he should’ve had to give that place to Russell. Especially weird coming from RB who almost never give up spots voluntarily.

10 second time penalty

Somehow Max always gets the lightest penalties. He clearly intentionally hit Russell. Vettel got a 10 second drive through when he did that to Lewis in Baku in 2017 I think.

Actually it was a pretty effective penalty. Dropped Max from 4th to 10th.

It’s not about the effectiveness in the moment. In a different race, 10 seconds might mean not even mean losing a place.

10 seconds is an absolute bullshit penalty for intentionally hitting another car. That should be a drive through at minimum.

Speaking of Williams, Alex has yet to finish a race lower than he's started.

Guessing that streak is over now.

Good on Lewis - go get a podium!

If all you have is a hard tire left, why not let Max stay out behind the safety car? His mediums weren't particularly old at that point. I feel like these teams always underestimate how many laps it takes under yellow to clear the track. Max would have had 6 laps to try to fend off Oscar and/or Lando. At worst, he drops to third. Instead...they restarted him in 3rd on hards. Just awful strategy, resulting in an embarrassing temper tantrum.

Max went Schumacher in 97 against Villenueve. Thought he got off light on the penalty. Schumacher got DQd from the season for his stunt. Someone mentioned Vettel already.

Highly entertaining race. Multiple strategies, tire gaps/compounds, passing on multiple corners and chaos at the end.

Hulk up to 5!

George needs a penalty

F1, this weekend should be your floor/baseline standard. Highlights just how pathetic last Sunday was.

Max throwing a temper tantrum at 200 mph is not acceptable.

Have you seen Max when he's not in the fastest car? That is exactly him.

Towards the end I was confused as to why Redbull was telling Max to give the position back to George. I thought that when he and LeClerc made contact that it was on both of them but, then it was on George for that first hit. Seems to me there needs to be much better communication from Race Control. The contact between Max and George after the confusion on the radio was not a good look, not at all. Max should be beyond that. Although his radio communication from his pit were quite confusing.

It's really odd seeing the Mercedes have reliability issues. Very good day for LeClerc. The McLaren are just such good cars right now and both drivers, Piastri more than Lando, are on top of it.

You have to go all the way back to Alan Jones in 1980 for the last time an Australian won the title.

I did not really hear anything as to why Yuki sucked so badly this weekend. That was bad.

Hulkenberg getting by Hamilton at the end was certainly interesting. Nico was certainly surprised. Hadjar with yet another fantastic showing. Lawson two spots in front of Yuki. Nice to see Alonso finally get that monkey off his back.

I didn't hear them say why the second Aston was not out there. Do they not bring a substitute driver? Although, if this is the beginning of the end for Lance I'm all for it.

Obviously the rule change on the flexi front wing brought McLaren back to the rest of the other teams, a little, but not enough.

I am really curious if the theory on what they did engineering the brakes to cool down and therefore reduce the heat build up in the tires is accurate.

Very obvious Lando is mindfucked by Max,  my wife started watching this year's Drive on Netflix and we just watched the frenemy episode last night,  if that is an accurate portrayal of Lando he isn't the guy to beat Max and they both know it.

Lawson is outright dangerous and easily is surpassing Stroll for his ability to create WTF moments.

Speaking of WTF, WTF Max?  I can see why he didn't want to give George the place, first, George is a freaking tool,  but damn,  what did he think was possibly going to happen doing that shit?

The Ferrari vs Merc for second place in the constructors is going to be interesting.   Curious if the power unit issues for Merc are a byproduct of the end of that power unit line with the new 2026 units.

Three races in Canada, Austria, and then Silverstone before the summer break.  Will be interesting to watch how things go at Red Bull over the next three races as I can't imagine they or any of the other teams made huge changes after the break with the new cars on the way.

I was also surprised they pitted Lewis.  His tires were only 3-4 laps old and he would have picked up at least a couple track positions by staying out.
