I checked On 3 this morning for some recruiting info only to find Aaron Murray and Tommy Tuberville being little cunts.

Murray is not sold on Arch because he didn't start last year.  Low info hot take

Tuberville was whining, specifically, about TX' NIL advantage.  Whiny bitch didn't complain when Auburn was buying players or have issues with abandoning Tech recruits in the middle of a meal.

Tuberville- yes

I saw Murray and McElroy said pretty much the same thing. McElroy left him off his top 10 QB list. He said there just isnt enough tape to put him on a top 10 list. It is a reasonable position. I think Arch will be great, but he does not have a lot of experience. No issues with anyone saying he hasnt earned a top 10 ranking or a 1st pick projection until he puts it on tape.

Few team notes picked up recently: The freshmen

Have spoken with a few people the last couple of weeks with spring ball having concluded. Here is what I picked up along the way.

1. OTF had already mentioned that the staff really likes both freshmen DT's - Myron Charles and Josiah Sharma. Sharma's name came up again late last week as having a very high-ceiling.

2. Don't sleep on running back James Simon. He was very impressive this spring. Three down back ability.

3. A source called Nick Brooks a "future 1st round draft pick".

4. Lance Jackson was mentioned again. The size and athleticism combo is one thing, but he answered the bell in terms of physicality. Justus Terry is seen as similar and Texas loves him, but is not the same in terms on NFL Combine testing numbers as Jackson.

5. Cornerback Kade Phillips upside was mentioned once again. Possesses high NFL draft pick potential.

6. Nickel Graceson Littleton has high-end quickness and closing speed. That was seen on the field in high school, and known when he signed with Texas. But his ability to learn and take it to the next rep and field early on really impressed.

7. Was told QB KJ Lacey was very impressive this spring. Ability to learn quickly, react quickly and see the field with much bigger lineman in his peripheral impressed.

8. Tight end Emaree Winston was mentioned again. Ball skills in the passing game. A willing, physical blocker in the run game.

9. Was told for a second time that safety Zelus Hicks was impressing prior to a minor tweak that limited him for part of the spring.

Other notes...

Kobe Black had a quality second half of the spring. He made key strides, and that presents possibilities of Jaylon Guilbeau playing nickel if that's what the staff deems best.

Alex January had a very good spring. On track to be an NFL prospect.

Daniel Cruz is on track to be a very good center at Texas. Continues to receive praise behind the scenes.

Valid.  But Murray's schtick was all, "How is Arch any good if he couldn't replace Ewers last year?".  The answer is far more nuanced than that.  His take was clickbait-lazy

Genuine curiosity. There are occasionally surprising gaps in my pop culture knowledge.

This wasn't one.

Have you not been to a little league or pre-teen select baseball game in the last 5 years, sir? At least one kid’s walk-up song is a Tiesto song. If you don’t want to get down to business, that’s a personal problem.

My youngest kid is 22, so no.

I caught part of it, maybe I missed that. I saw him mention that scouts were saying maybe Ewers isnt as good as we thought when he was coming out as a recruit. Basically implying a 5 star doesn’t mean he is going to be one of the best QBs int he nation.

Quote

“I am not sold [on Arch Manning], like so many of the other people are, that this guy is going to be the number one pick in NFL draft, that he’s going to just be unbelievable, that he’s going to be the next coming of Peyton and Eli, but that’s mobile,” Murray said, according to On3. “…

To me that is just playing the odds. It’s usually a good bet to say the new starter isn’t going to be a HOF QB or #1 pick. Not like he said he thinks Arch is going to suck. He just said he isn’t buying the hype. That’s fine, it’s up to Arch to prove him wrong.

Tiesto is a fan!

i didn't know who Tiesto was until last week... it was the license plate of my Uber driver and she explained in her profile that she was a big fan of Tiesto... I didn't know of his music and there is nothing you could have told me that would have made me think she listens to any DJ... but then I realized she was playing the 80s songs of her late 20s and it started to make sense... she used to party...  so this hits close to home.

247 has Arch and Wingo as the #4 duo in the country. Don’t agree with the ASU tandem being #1 but that’s not the point. Seems fair, sure hope Wingo takes off next year. He sure had some flashes, hoping he can deep posts/ins like Roy and house them.

Jordyn Tyson would have been a late 1st rounder this year if he didn't break his collar bone in the last game of the regular season.  It wasn't a 1 year wonder.  He was Colorado's best player on a dogshit team and dipped when Deion came in to recuperate, then was outstanding once Leavitt got to slow the game down.

ASU lost a game because Leavitt was hurt against Utah, but between the Cincinnati loss and bye, it felt like everything clicked and Tyson went off.  Leavitt threw 16 TD's to 1 INT in the latter half of the season with a lot of it going to Tyson.  And Tyson has all the stuff.  Decent size, really fast, great routes, great contested ball catcher and he can make plays.  If Tyson's collar bone isn't broken, he's probably a late 1st rounder in this last draft.  You missed on ASU's 2nd or 3rd best play maker.  Which... Look, nobody was beating OSU so it's just bragging rights, but they had another dude y'all didn't deal with that would be a problem.

You missed our hammer at RB too.  I don’t think you make it a game if we had Baxter at RB.  Texas probably does much better against Georgia and actually wins one as well.  We may not have played you at all if our starting RB didn’t miss the season.

Jordan Washington said Graceson Littleton is probably the second fastest guy on the team.

Maybe I’m just not caffeinated enough yet but I’m blanking on who would be the obvious choice for fastest. Niblett?

Wingo has a PR of 10.5 100m.

Edit: Looks like Niblett ran a 10.4.

Filsaime had a PR of 10.52.

How's Butler's? He doesn't seem to be a great WR but he's supposed to be fast.

If you had to pick one of those that will be off by the most....Alabama?

'Bama, no real reason for them to be top 5.

3-point spread in top 5, tossups with 3-point home field advantage.

Don't follow this guy at all, is he worth betting? The only one that has looked worth a shit has been Pate and his "Ramen Express" picks. 2023 results I worked, came up at 57%... That's damn fine - 53% gets you break-even on standard 100/110 vig bets.

We could control that kickoff time? This isn’t exactly a game in Austin vs Sam Houston that we’re putting on the LHN. It’s Fox’s big national game that Saturday, and they play those at noon eastern.

Yeah it sounds like massive BS.  Hence why it should come with the qualifier of "allegedly"

TV decides.

Whenever we’re starting a September game at 2:30 in 110 degree heat we’re always told that tv decides. I don’t think OSU and Texas could bump this off the Big Noon Kickoff just for the hell of it.

i can't read the article because fuck ads, but supposedly the also proposed moving it to sunday primetime, which we also declined likely because that would cause massive away fan disruption

Has Fox ever done a Sunday primetime college game?

So they're mad because they get a bunch of noon kickoff times, and have put pressure on fox to change them, but no official time has been announced yet.

Where's Texas "standing in the way"?

Isn’t that reserved for ABC? It’s Miami and ND this year

We complained for years about the bullshit noon kickoffs and they did nothing about it. But now, we magically have the power to change it because reasons.

I would think that if we ran college football as much as we seem to accused of running college football we would have more national championships the last twenty years.

This. We can't even control Kick Off times for home games but we can dictate what time OSU plays their home games?
