crosspost from inflation thread...Costco sticker shock for the first time i can even remember 😳 and not like 'holy shit i can't believe i bought all this crap' shock we all get there.

no clothing, 1/3 of our normal meat purchase, one OTC pharmacy item, then just standard household, produce, coffee, dairy, etc. nothing at all extravagant and we stuck to our normal list.

we double checked the receipt ourselves before leaving. fun.

I cooked on Sunday and made the mistake of not checking the price of the chicken I purchased.  Almost $18 for eight chicken strips.  Ouch.

Also just got my electric bill. Holy shit. Cooler than normal summer and yet.

Weird. Trump said he’d cut our electric bills in half.

You should be able to afford higher groceries and utilities though after the 1500% reduction in prescription medication.

I'm one of the 244 Americans not on any prescription meds.  I miss out again, damnit.

thinking on this...if we ('surly oligarch class' 😄) are starting to 🤨 and even be a little 😬 ourselves at the direction costs are heading...i can only imagine what the majority of americans are experiencing 😒 yikes.

oh well. most of them probably shouldn't have voted for the guy who had a written, published plan that said this is exactly what he was going to do i guess.

Well you should find one to be on, since it’s a big payout now.

I'll keep my ears open during football this weekend for one that claims bad gas among the one minute list of side effects.

I pay a little over $2k.   and don’t think I don’t appreciate all you subsidizing me.

So you, me, and a handful of other assholes, huh? My wife (3 meds) and cat (one) are doing their best to average out our household.

Before he kicked the bucket, my dad filled up four of those weekly pill dispensers. He must have been on 30 scrips / vitamin supplements minimum.

I'm gonna start writing my GOP cookbook.  And by that, I don't mean recipes from Republicans, I mean recipes CONTAINING Republicans.  Save money, save yourself.  Tastes like shit and satisfaction at the same time.

Big part of that is the icemageddon recoupment fee the PUC let Oncor and Center point insert into your rectum.  And mine.

Wasn’t long ago that you could pull year long, Texas electricity promos for roughly 6 cents. Now it’s all north of 11 cents and at certain times of year closer to 15.

You know what will be a real kick in the pants is when the courts force Trump to refund and discontinue the tariffs but the tariff-pricing will remain.

Depending on the outcome of 10/4, this board may have to reevaluate its willingness to participate.

Good. Everyone should feel the pain of electing the dumbest people to positions of power.

I always have my ears open at the register for sticker shock from others. I enjoy engaging with others in public about our stupid leaders. Putting a voice to the pain is a small way to make people think.

Trump could release the files with the stroke of a pen.

It's funny, part of his rambling diatribe today on that was that the DOJ has already released everything there is to release.

I wouldn't want to the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics today. I mean the former head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

You know he cooked the numbers in trump’s favor and that’s the best he could do.
