Most likely.  I've never watched an entire car race at any level and I thought it was great.

It is a movie made to be seen in a theater.  It would be cool at home but it looks great on a big screen with great sound.  Doesn't have to be IMAX, but it's a reason to get out of your house.

They visit a lot of F1 tracks, and of course they are different, which adds some beauty and variety to the film.

It was nice, and definitely rewatchable, but it's a story that has been ported over many times now. The AV side of the movie was incredible and in the age of CGI, it was a technical masterpiece. A little too much inside baseball with the cameos, and I guess part of that is to lend authenticity to the racing and the language. I still think acting wise, and story wise, both Rush and Ford vs Ferrari were better. But honestly, all 3 of them are great entertainment.

Haven't seen it, but I want to.  The buildup for this reminds me of when Days of Thunder came out.  It's just Top Gun in a racecar.

Well, Top Gun was awesome, so sign me the fuck up.

Saw an article criticizing F1 because it's the same director as TG: Maverick, and it tries to be that in an F1 car.

Well, TG: Maverick was awesome, so sign me the fuck up.  We need more movies like that.

Oh, one more thing: Far too much Buxton. But then, for me, any Buxton is too much.

Same problem I have with DtS but I'm sure I'll manage. :)

Most of my exposure to him is through F1 the game as I don’t usually see him on race broadcasts. What is it that everyone dislikes about him so much?

She’s very clearly Irish.

He's annoying and a bit of a poser.  Back when NBC had the broadcast rights, he was part of their crew.  He's just a little... smarmy, I guess, would be an apt descriptor.

Just got back from Bullock IMAX.  It's well shot, but Jesus what incredible sound design.

It reminds me of the story about David O Russell grinding on George Clooney on the set of Three Kings (the former's general dipshittery on that set is renowned).  Russell is reputed to have told Clooney to lose all of the "Clooney tics" that he had honed on tv and that he thought as part of his acting repertoire.

Anyway, this movie is like the director told Brad Pitt "I want you to play the movie star--you're Redford and Newman and Cruise in one.  Be the most Brad Pitt you can be."    It works, somewhat supported by a plot that is pretty much a collection of cliches (in other words, it feels like a movie and Pitt's performance would be out of place in something trying for more authenticity).

Good, as well, to see Dr. Sharon from Ted Lasso getting work.

Raining all day in SA and didn’t want to make the further drive for IMAX, but I might go again next week.

Really enjoyed the regular version though.  Well worth the $$$ spent.

Saw it Thursday night and really enjoyed it.  The story was fine, nothing groundbreaking but well done for what it was.  And the film and sound work were incredible.  There were times when they made the racecars sound like monsters, fire-breathing dragons and such.  Cool stuff.

He's a douchebag with an affected announcing style and agonizingly slow cadence for effect. On DTS he's the leader of the false narratives that show thrives on, always villainizing one driver or making a hero of another, using imagined conflicts or other fabricated events as the fuel for the narrative. DTS is mostly fiction with a pretty F1 backdrop.

You'll enjoy it more if you don't care about car racing. As someone who spent time with touring cars 20yrs ago, I nearly walked out 5min in at the super fake attempts at dramatizing his touring car race. It was worse than the double clutching bullshit in Fast and Furious.

Then as someone who has been to f1 multiple places fairly recently, the f1 scenes were jarring because they were so slow compared to the real thing. I get they filmed slow and sped it up, and even so it was painfully slow.

Otherwise, much better than I expected, but I had zero expectations. Basically an f1 version of Driven.

Comparing this movie to driven is a laughable take. That’s one of the worst movies ever made.

And this definitely compares. As I said, better if you aren't actually familiar with cars or racing.

They literally jump a car off the curb to perform an overtake in that movie. Stahp

I guess it’s only natural/expected we have the super F1 fan telling us how much it’s not realistic etc.

Hey now, there are quite a few F1 fans on this board, the F1 thread is one of the lengthier ones on the Other Sports board, and several of us have chimed in on this thread with positive reviews of the movie.  I don't recall THIS guy posting on the F1 thread so I wouldn't say he's an F1 super fan at all.
