So after seeing this thread and learning who PTA is and I am bored and thought hey let me see what I can use Netflix or prime to watch. Inherent Vice.
Be honest the cast gave me good vibes but I was just a little too distracted to really follow all the little nuisance stuff.

Maybe watch when I can concentrate better. It does say the actors working with him must like his stuff or they overpay.

Inherent Vice is probably his most polarizing and least popular film. It's the only one I've been unable to finish, and the only one I didn't enjoy on pretty much any level. Fwiw, it's probably the only film I'd tell someone who has never seen a PTA film to avoid.

I'd start with Boogie Nights, as it is probably his most well known film. There Will Be Blood is his masterpiece. Magnolia is one my personal faves. Punch Drunk Love is also so very good and Sandler is amazing in it.

I finally watched Inherent Vice for the first time the other day. Not my favorite PTA certainly, but still really liked it. His movies just have such a strong style and vibe to them. Was a bit convoluted and hard to follow, but makes me want to rewatch with subtitles.

Also, Katherine Waterson, I wasn't familiar with your game.

Got my tickets for One Battle in 70mm at Alamo on Friday, can't wait.

The trailers for this movie have been horrible.

The first set were "It's quirky! Leo makes a phone call and they hang up on him!"

The next set were wall to wall action.

They will need strong word of mouth to make any money.

I’m about 11 hours into Vineland. Based on the trailers, this is going to be a very loose adaptation.

PTA is a better screenwriter than Thomas Pynchon. I don’t think anyone would argue otherwise.

Again based on the trailers, I could see Leo and Del Toro’s characters in the first 3 hours of the book. It then jumps to a femme fatale ninja story with hippies and communes and The Man.

The plan is to finish Vineland and roll up to the matinee showing on Friday.

Nor was I. Have noticed her in a couple of things since and Vice is where she looks the best.

I think the trailers I've seen are great but I'm used to PTA movies and know what they're usually like.
