Not strictly transfer related, but significant roster news

  • This kind of shit from our fanbase wears me out. Sark took over a lost program and since we've been to 2 semis and should have been in the playoffs this year but for a committee that doesn't understan

that’s a dumb thing to say. 100 guys with 500 yards in p4 with an inaccurate qb?

The furthest thing from it.

We are calling Arch inaccurate now? Are you serious? Do you honestly believe Livingstone isn't a dime a dozen receiver in D1 football?

People are silly. And they get attached to players because they play for us and have a moment or two.

Again, there’s like 12 guys we need to keep, everyone else is fungible or upgrade-able.

I mean he had accuracy issues early in the year related to timing, not really accurate throwing ability. But that's got why Livingstone didn't produce more.

I think he sprayed the ball early in the season at times, but he got over it by midseason. There was some speculation that it was injury, but I think it might have been early game adrenaline that turned into mental yips

Pretty sure it was the camp he did in the summer that fucked with his throwing motion. Their drills looked stupid.

cool quote from Quinn re: his decision to enter last year's NFL draft rather than transfer somewhere else that some of these guys should probably pay attention to:

"I felt like what I built with my teammates at Texas and the legacy that we built, I didn't want to mess anything up there," Ewers said. "... To me, it's not about the materialistic things of this world because it comes and goes. What's important to me is the relationships that are built along the way. And I didn't want to disrupt or rub anybody the wrong way, being selfish and trying to go get money from another team, because I was a lifelong Longhorn.

"Growing up, I wanted to play there. Ended up being the quarterback there, living on my dreams. My 10-year-old self wouldn't transfer away and go somewhere else. So, at the end of the day, that was the right decision for me."

Ewers: Chose NFL over portal to cement UT ties

Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers said he chose the NFL over lucrative offers for a final college season in order to preserve his relationships at Texas.

So it really WAS the friends we made along the way?

Did Neto actually suck or what’s the story on what happened there? Went from Spring & Fall starter until a couple weeks before OSU.

Is Spencer Barnett on his way out considering Texas has the Croatian Kicker transferring in and signed Jake Collett? If so, it'll be another Westlake meltdown.

We should also find some kid with a monster leg and get him in just for kickoffs. Should never have a game like yesterday where we keep giving up kickoff returns to mid field or beyond because our kicker cant put it through the end zone

Would rather have Baugh, but get this kid in space and he is electric. Will be fun to see how Sark uses him.

Wisner freed up money so that we could pursue both Brown AND Baugh. Got 1. Hopefully we get the other.

Thanks for the gift on your way out.

We kick short on purpose. We are usually so good on kick off coverage that teams generally lose yardage when they don't fair catch. It was probably a strategic error for this game with so many special teamers opting out. Should have changed course mid game.

Isaac Brown and Cam Coleman with a competent OL would make this offense elite.

The only game I saw him play was Miami and he looked to be very good against them. Reminded me a bit of Marshall Faulk.

I saw some Barry Sanders in him.

I like Caleb Hawkins the most. I wish we would take a big swing at him. His film is sick.

Almost a lock to OK St

Very soon, I predict, we will have straight-up trades and after that happens they will allow mid-season transfers/trades.

Maybe we can fly the university president and the athletic director to his house and talk him out of it.

I think the idea that Isaac Brown is like an upgraded version of Jaydon Blue is a good one. Home run hitter, talented back. The "lightning" in a two RB rotation that can be used in the passing game as well. Me likey.

Admittedly it’s late and my eyes aren’t working but I read giant septic before I got to your reference

These are highlights, so if he has vaginitis it won't show up here. Guy breaks a lot big plays.

Bummed we'll lose a cool token white guy who had average+ play at times.

He started out really great this year in the first couple two or three games?
And then he just stopped getting targets. I wondered if that's because defenses started double-teaming him or Manning stopped throwing in his direction, or Sark stopped calling plays for him, or what.

Either way. I hope he lands somewhere he really likes, and he does well there.

But... if we upgrade, then so be it. This is the year to shove the chips to the middle of the table.

Barnett was kicking line drives to the 7 yard line. That’s not kicking short; that’s setting your coverage team up for failure.

All these posts of all your chips on the table for arch need to stop. We’ll be pushing our chips in every year no matter who’s leading us.

No disrespect to Mr. Hawkins, but if you watch Brown’s highlights and then immediately watch Hawkins’ it looks like he’s running in slow motion.

South Transfer portal intel: Texas buzz on eve of open season

T-minus three hours until the transfer portal window opens and it's go time for Texas. If you haven't read Jordan's transfer portal primer, it's a must-read to gear you up for the next two weeks. Chip's Insider from yesterday is also great insight into what's coming.

Here's some additional notes I've picked up as of this evening from speaking with sources.

-- I'm told the Longhorns have in the ballpark of 18 visits in the works, whether that's all this weekend or over the course of the portal window is to be determined. But as Chip noted yesterday, if schools don't have the players they want on campus this weekend, then that school is facing an uphill battle to sign those players.

-- I was told tonight Texas wants two running backs, even with Christian Clark's big game in the Citrus Bowl. That room took a hit with the portal exits and they need to replenish. Horns247 first reported this morning that Louisville's Isaac Brown is a name to watch. Florida's Jadan Baugh is the other (he's yet to announce transfer portal intentions, though). They're two different style backs, so one doesn't cancel out the other as it pertains to these two. NIL demands could, but we'll see how that shakes out.

-- Speaking of Clark, his game against Michigan has obviously garnered him more attention from outside suitors. I'm told Clark's desire is to stay with Texas regardless of what UT does in the portal, which you have to respect. He's open to the competition. All the details are still being worked out, but I would wager he'll be back in Burnt Orange next season.

-- One name we heard this evening that Texas has interest in is Florida tight end Hayden Hansen. The Longhorns are likely to add at least one at the position, maybe more, depending on what Jack Endries decides to do. Hansen had 30 catches for 254 yards and two scores this year but is considered more of an in-line blocking type. Hansen is from Weatherford, Texas. Jordan mentioned him in a report of guys who make sense for Texas earlier this week.

-- All signs point to Ryan Wingo being back with Texas next season, I'm told. Feel like that's worth mentioning considering the Parker Livingstone news tonight.

-- A little high school recruiting nugget to pass along ... I believe the Kyle Whittingham hire at Michigan shores up any wavering Malakai Lee may have had. He's familiar with Whittingham, who recruited him at Utah.
