I think Saunier might be trending towards the draft. Throwing well on The Cape and has an interesting pitch mix. Weiner seemed to unlock something in the second half of the season.

Any pick after round 10 can sign for up to $125k without counting towards the bonus pool MLB teams are allotted, so he could be in line for a six-figure signing bonus even as a late-round pick.

Six figure signing bonus ain't what it used to be. Not sure what NIL/House settlement payments has slated for him at Texas, but the real question is what's the delta between the signing bonus and NIL/House settlement payments.

Edit: And one more year of Texas co-ed cleat chasers versus minor league travel and lounge lizards.

There is also the difference in draft slot money.  If he thinks he can significantly improve his draft slot by coming back then he would be looking at a much bigger signing bonus next year.

Actually, it's the opposite when you are going to be a senior. Seniors have zero draft leverage, so you often see them sign for pennies (the signing bonuses for seniors are like 5-10k).

So you are basically weighing going back to school to collect a NIL paycheck and sign for pennies next year vs taking the six-figure signing bonus now.

Bingo. Remember Mike Antico? He got pennies because he had no leverage. There is a reason guys that can sign do so as early as possible. That is the most leverage you will ever have.

Does this mean you can’t enter, or does this mean you have to be committed to play somewhere too?

Entered only

Who are the 2-3 impact freshman arms?

No clue, but if we got Volantis and Flores in a shortened recruiting window last year, I would hope we can do at least that good this year with Schloss/Weiner recruiting for a full year.

We will know in a little over a week who is coming. There are some really solid dudes in this class that would contribute if they make it on campus. Top guys. I am biased and hopeful so I will not name names.

I don’t think Flores was a late window guy.  Rerick flipped from A&M to Texas, which makes his portal entry a bit surprising.  But the unknown variables may be deciding factor.

Volantis was the unique one that was more last minute.

There are 11 pitchers signed/committed for next years team.  7 position players but that includes Jonah and 2 likely high draftees.

We have some pretty talented pitchers coming in, so it’s decently likely some will meaningfully contribute by season end. I’m not sure who the three will be, but I’ll be shocked if Cozart isn’t one of them.
