You should definitely rock your Longhorn gear, hat to shoes. You’ll never have to buy a drink.

I have been to Theo’s, Atlas, and Borgino’s in my past few trips and I thought all were good places to eat. Check menu’s to make sure they’re still around (I haven’t been to Fayetteville since last November).

Doe’s Eat Place Fayetteville is also fun and packed usually. It’s a “steakhouse” but more in the Outback/Salt Grass vein versus Pappa’s or Del Frisco’s. It’s on their main drag near campus and there’s usually plenty of talent.

I like Fayetteville, but I’m usually there with my BIL and SIL who are big Arkansas people. Good luck.

That entire NW Arkansas space is blowing up, probably won’t be near as bad as you’re expecting.

I drove through Arkansas on a trip from Texas to Illinois several years ago. It’s one giant shithole and the 3rd ugliest state I’ve ever been to after Oklahoma and Louisiana. There was a poster here that would always hype up NW Arkansas and I always thought he was completely delusional. Maybe the trailer parks up in that area are fancier than what we have here.

If you are a troll, it’s just amazing work. I, for whatever reason, do still believe that you are not. It is hard to fathom someone driving through the state of Arkansas and still calling it ugly.

Especially someone who lives in the Valley.

The Ozarks are absolutely beautiful.  Plus, if you're driving those roads, you'll have plenty of time to view the scenery because Arkansas drivers move at a glacial pace.

Ok. Southwest, central, and northeast Arkansas were all hideous. I extrapolated that to meaning the whole state is ugly. Maybe I’m wrong. I thought southwest Missouri was much more beautiful, huge trees and rolling hills and cliffs.

. . . and those sights don't stop at the state line.

Arkansas is a lot of things, but ugly ain’t one.

OP: If you can, find a river and get a line wet even if it’s just for an hour. Take a sandwich.

My wife was in Fayetteville a few weeks ago visiting one of her oldest and best friends who's lived there for several years.  She's convinced that Fayetteville should be on our short list for retirement, assuming we can ever leave Austin.  Not getting all cloak-roomy, but we're both pretty liberal, and when I told her my impression was that while Fayetteville and nearby Bentonville might be purple-ish the Arkansas state government was just as MAGA as Texas if not more.  She says that's not the case.

In any event, I'd like to visit the area.  My step-daughter for the time being has Arkansas high on her list, so maybe we'll head there in the Spring for her first college visit.

Bentonville is a cool area. The Walton family has dumped over a $100 million into building, organizing, and maintaining hundreds of miles of mountain bike trails.  While that’s a niche sport, it has become a legit world class destination for mountain bikers.  The bike industry brings over $100 million to the local economy every year now

That’s brought lots of improvements to the area over the last 20 years or so.

I have colleagues who go there frequently and they rave about the food options

I go there quite often to visit my best buddy.  He usually has the corporate hookup for concerts at the AMP.  I usually don't pay attention to where we are (Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville) in our spare time wanderings, but he has taken me to some awesome places over the years for food and drink there.

My faves:

Wright BBQ, Bentonville Brewing, Tusk & Trotter

Rest In Peace, AQ Chicken (loved that shit!).

That's all I got.
