I'm actually very interested to see what the final vote tally is and what fuck-fuck games will be played because of our shitty voting machines. I can easily see a group suing the TX sec of state for failing to fix the voting infrastructure if Beto loses by a close margin

There needs to be a lawsuit over those spinny wheel Hart eSlate machines. This is 2018. There should be no need for a  (and I'm quoting from the Texas Secretary of State's guidance to voters and election officials voter to "wait at least 3-5 seconds for all choices to be rendered on the eSlate voting machines. Counties in which voters have longer ballots may require additional time to allow the screens to load fully." That's kind of bullshit. My phone would be faster. How on earth are these machines so bad? The only time I have to deal with them is when we do ISD voting. My county thankfully has touch screen which doesn't require you to slow down to a snail's pace so it doesn't fuck up your vote.

I hope after this election the Texas SoS requires every county to move to something a little more modern and not built on 1960's technology.

A story for the Beto supporters, and I'm one as well.

A few years back I went to Pittsburgh for a Texan game on MNF.   I stayed downtown and hit the bars/restaurants all weekend.  Everywhere I went, I ran into other Texan fans that flew up for the game as well.  I couldn't hit a tourist spot without seeing a handful or in some cases dozens of Texans fans.   We were everywhere.

What do you think happened when I went to the game on Monday night?  I was out-numbered at least 150 to 1 by Steeler fans.    I wasn't surprised, but you can easily start to think your echo chamber is the norm until hit in the face with reality.

In Pittsburgh over that weekend, Texan fans looked to be there in huge numbers because we were all wearing Houston gear wherever we went.  Pittsburgh fans were wearing their regular, everyday clothes until Monday night when they all put on jerseys.  The Texas GOP voters are putting their jerseys today so don't be surprised when Beto loses by 5+.

For many Texan voters, it's identity politics.  They're Republicans and do not look at issues.

The problem with that analogy is that Steelers fans have a baseline of 90% of the stadium on any given gameday. The last game we played in Texas (2016) 43% of the stadium was filled up with the "blue team" and that blue team was 2017 Cleveland Browns bad. Now we are playing the game again, but this time it's 2005 Longhorns, and we're just hoping to get about 6% more in the stands. Judging by the bars and restaurants it appears the enthusiasm is greater than it was for the 2016 team, we just don't know if it going to be enough.

Beto had better win. I just quit my job since we're all going to be socialists now and that means I don't have to work but they still gotta pay me. Hopefully they will assign me a nice house and wife.

You will be on the gun confiscation squad. If you fail there, we're putting you on the death panel.

Maybe more like the 1996 Longhorns. Plucky with a puncher's chance.

This is a fair point, right? Pig Belmont, what issues do you take with it?

Oh man this is funny. Both parties support socialism it just to the benefit of different constituencies. Both don't give a shit about the national debt. I became a Republican for some time because I bought into pro business and balanced budgets.  Now it is only pro BIG business (6% tax hike on most small businesses) and get BIG business the money via other peoples money (middle class and small business) and get elected using open bigotry. I now know that anyone that still buys the bullshit in the quote is just ignorant. Go with it dude. Karavans, Krime and Khaos.

It’s a legit concern to be a Republican, not like Cruz, think Beto is a good guy who has appeal but not want to vote for someone under the thumb of Chuck Schumer, Diane Feinstein, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, etc. Cruz helped get us the tax cuts, Kavanaugh and Gorsuch. When I voted for Obama, I got him cozying up to Islamic assholes in Iran and Obamacare.

Trump just said Obamacare is good. This must be a confusing time for some.

If I can submit my taxes, manage all of my finances, and basically conduct every piece of business in the modern world online, I should be able to cast my vote electronically as well.

What? I don’t give a shit what Trump says. The passage of Obamacare led to a big increase in my employer provided health insurance employee contributions and deductible and hurt those buying individual plans even worse. That’s what I got for voting for Obama and him coddling Muslim terrorists in Iran because of his naïveté.

Yeah, that sucks.

Just so you know, voting for Republicans is voting to save Obamacare. Don't listen to me, though, that's what Republicans are saying.

"Open borders" is a joke, and fear mongering from Republicans, but yeah, the other things are good.  It's called catering to basic human rights of everybody, not just white folk.

Sorry, I thought Trump said that Obamacare is good this morning.  What do you have to say about that?

Asylum should be limited to a very small subset of people. Like those fleeing genocide and CIA assets.

And it pretty much is? But you still have to process the claims of those that ask for it and determine whether or not they qualify. Weird, I know.

The good news is before you get on Medicare your employer will be out of the health insurance game. Health care is going left. It's never going right.

Hate to break it to you, but that stuff was going up before Obamacare.

Found this chart off of Time's website. Makes me wonder how insurance companies are making record profits yet the amount of money we're paying is totally outpacing what they're kicking in. Is this where people start talking about preexisting condition coverage and why it needs to be eliminated?

This is an excellent graph for explaining why insurance companies should be removed from the healthcare equation altogether.

Yes it was, at a steady rate that out paced inflation and wage growth.  However, ACA  has costs me and my family > $30,000 (3-4 years worth) in what premiums would have been had things been left alone and continued on the trajectory I mentioned. Some of that is due to living in Texas (ie R's fault) but this shit needs to get fixed and most of the blame as far as I am concerned lies with the D's for opening this can of worms when they did.

BTW.  voted straight D with Beto with one or 2 Ls thrown in.

Fleeing high crime and poor regions, which is what the people in the caravan are doing, is not asylum worthy in my opinion. If someone is from Honduras, El Salvador, etc and they say they are claiming asylum because of gangs that shouldn’t be enough and they should be turned right around. Just ask them where they are from. If they were Yazidis or Christians fleeing from ISIS that’s different and asylum worthy.

Thankfully no one gives a shit what your opinion is
