You can’t use the substitution as a way to cheat the system. He jogged off the field to look as if he was substituted and the announcers called it out

You say you can’t.

But they did.

Rules are only rules if you call them.

He wasn't substituting or being subbed for.

There is a specific way a player is supposed to run to the sideline...?

Who says he's jogging off the field vs jogging to his position?

He was very clearly trying to look like he was jogging off the field.

Unless it makes you a bigger target for car size spiders or something, I think it is the least of your worries in Australia.

And?  He was the 11th man.  Auburn thinks ou is going to go with 10?

Here is the rule:

Unfair Tactics ARTICLE 2

a No player shall conceal the ball in or beneath their clothing or equipment or substitute any other article for the ball

b No simulated replacements or substitutions may be used to confuse opponents No tactic associated with substitutes or the substitution process may be used to confuse opponents (Rule 3-5-2-e) (A R 9-2-2-I-VI) This includes any hideout tactic with or without a substitution

c No equipment may be used to confuse opponents (Rule 1-4-2-d)

d Two players playing the same position may not wear the same number during the game

What they did is against the rules.

He wasn't hiding out.  He wasn't subbing or being subbed for.  He was on the field the previous play and stayed on the field.

The ridiculous thing is Auburn has played completely like shit on offense and is still in this.

OU's offese is bad. JAGS all over the field. Auburn's offense isn't bad, their WR group is elite. Arnold fucking sucks but is still getting chunk plays against the OU defense.

That's exactly what he was doing. He was pretending to sub off the field. It doesn't matter whether they actually subbed or not. Stop being dense.

Obviously a judgment call.  I didn't know the wording of the rule so thanks for posting.

So, he didn't run to the sideline the right way?  There is a rule for that?

The line judge was right there.  Auburn just missed him.
