Maybe Florida isn't a sleeping giant that is just waiting for us to give them a little bit of hope to unlock the 5-star, Top 15 talent that they have all over the field but couldn't unlock themselves without the generous help of By Gawd UT.

Maybe we play a bit conservative, Arch throws for one and runs for one, has a solid, if unspectacular game, and the defense strangles their ass and makes them execute play after play as they try to slog their way to 3 points each drive. I trust Taaffe in center field if they want to go deep. I trust Pete K will be just fine taking away the deep ball and insisting they try to nickel and dime their way down the field. It's kinda what our Defense excels at.

20-13 Texas. Leave Florida with a win and prepare for a better matchup with a healthier WR and RB room ready to unleash some wrinkles.

This is pretty much where I am. I would imagine Texas is going to play super conservatively on offense with Florida's relative defensive strength, offensive woes, turnover proclivity, a tough road environment, Arch's inconsistency/yips, and Texas having a strong punting and special teams game. This is your win by playing, "complementary football" game plan if there ever was one. I'm predicting lots of brakes and not a ton of gas. It's probably going to be ugly but winning ugly is a good thing. Just get the W however we can. And god forbid we kick a fucking field goal on fourth down.

I think the Texas offense will move the ball more than fine on a play by play basis, just need Arch to not shit his pants on 3rd/4th downs and score when they get inside the five. Need Arch to not fuck up the initial couple of scripted drives due to being too amped up or whatever, and need him to settle in at some like he did vs SHSU after he got hit running up the middle. It'll be interesting to see if they junk up their defense and throw something new at us after a bye week; this has slowed down Sark offenses in the past, but leads to defenses being susceptible to mistakes

Florida's offense is a train wreck but they'll probably still put together a couple of sustained drives. Similar to in the paragraph above, the Texas defense will just need to keep them out of the endzone when they do have longer successful drives

Keep in mind Billy Napier will try to lose this game with game management decisions. Mario Cristobal thinks Billy Napier is an idiot game manager

I don't think their injury situation on defense is going to allow them to junk up their defense without it being a disaster for them.

It's going to be ugly no matter what as both defenses are elite and the offenses are dogshit.  I do think our defense can create more turnovers with Lagway.

I would welcome conservative play calling and taking the points or punting on 4 down. I doubt Sark does this so I expect Florida to stay in the game.

I think they can try it. Go with a three deep safety look and spam sim pressures, and hope that the Texas run game isn't too efficient or explosive. Hope for some redzone stops. Won't stop us every time, but probably will lead to some OL busts and Arch mistakes

If they just do what they've been doing all season (sitting in match quarters), Sark will probably have a conveyor belt of quarters beaters queued up, assuming Arch/skill players don't fuck them up or the OL doesn't allow too many quick pressures

This. Take the points. Make our field goals and we’ll be fine.

You want our AD to tell our Head Coach to bet on Florida?    Not the way I would do it, but okay.

They will leave the CBs on island though. You can get deep shots down the sideline, which Arch throws well. Florida is missing their best CB for this game. It will be up to the WRs to get open. Florida LBers play fast, sometimes too fast. Using some misdirection in the run game could yield some explosives.

I think it has been mentioned that Sark has a pretty good track record against Ron Roberts. I can't remember if Roberts pulled out any of the three deep safety looks in 2021 or 2022 at Baylor.

Defenses smell blood in the water with Arch.

Probably a matter of semantics, but if Arch was a sack/turnover machine, this might be true.

Currently, all defenses have to do is commit to defending the run and dare Arch to throw.  And our run game hasn't been up to that task, really.

But if Arch can hit a few, that all goes down the toilet for the d.

Defenses have done the opposite. They have defended the pass and dared Texas to beat them with the run . I would guess Florida will do something similar. Sit back in their 2 deep shell and see it Texas can force them out of it by executing in the run game and short passing game.

Listening to some of the talk shows like Pate and Pickell pick the Florida game this week has been really entertaining. It is clear that the lasting impression of both of them is the UTEP game. Pate picked Florida to win, and Pickell clearly thinks Arch sucks. I look forward to Arch coming out and playing a quality game and then watching all of these guys talk about how they knew Arch would bounce back and that this score was inevitable.

Florida On3 posted this a few hours ago:

Handing over the call sheet wasn’t something Napier considered during the bye, he said. However, Gators Onlinel earned — and Napier confirmed — that he asked staff members to send him their suggestions on what Florida could do better offensively

Some staff suggestions included which players should be targeted more, ways to run the ball better and how to get Lagway going in the passing game. One of them was taking shots down the field, and Napier acknowledged that he needs to call more deep balls.

This is clearly an offensive play caller with a feel for his team..

watched the Ian and Homer break down. They said Roberts defense is pretty predictable. Sark struggles vs DCs that throw together junk defenses, like Ark and UTEP (meanign Dcs that will throw completely different defenses out there based on the opponent). He is much better vs DCs that stick to what they do, so he can learn the rules of the defense and exploit them.

This is a game we win running away with Ewers, but with Arch's inconsistent footwork and accuracy it could go either way.

Add in stupid personnel decisions on the OL, this game will be decided late in the 4th quarter. An untimely late pick by Arch could give the game to Florida.

So Arch has the same issues as Ewers, so Ewers would blow out a defense that has been very solid. Sounds 100% accurate.

Because of course, Texas players never ever improve over the course of a season and with a bye week to drill fundamentals into Arch
