I could conjure a scenario where getting out of the Arch quagmire and getting away from his personal/marital problems means he's willing to do about anything to gtfo with some dignity intact.

On the other hand, as a recovering alky I think he knows that geographical solutions are no solution at all.  He's even tried one before.

This looks like a guy finding a way out of a situation he doesn't know how to fix to me.

This whole thing sure lends a lot of credibility to all the rumors about Sark’s personal life lately. Hopefully we can fire him for cause.

Go on...

NFL job seems like a lot less work these days.  College is 24/7 all year job now.  They have contracts you don’t have to be constantly trying to keep your players happy and looking for new ones.

This reeks of L’Oreal. lol

What is Franklin against ranked teams? Like 4-21 or something. That’s actually worse than Mack Brown. And Vince Young ain’t walking through that door.

No need to throw that shit in this.

I have been saying he looks checked out so this isn't surprising.  His personal life is a mess so he might think a change is best.  He also might think the pros can handle his "great" offense better.

Regardless,  I don't see it. Hot coaches get the calls and have to deny the rumors.  Not so hot coaches have to send out feelers.

Nicole nailed this. She and my wife both noticed he didn’t seem right and didn’t want to be here weeks ago.

Well if you fuck yourself didn't work for you, then go fuck your mother in her big nose....

Quote

Cignetti's contract is fully guaranteed -- including retention bonuses -- should Indiana fire him. He is subject to offset language, meaning that any job he took after getting fired would count against the money owed to him.

If Cignetti left for another job, he would owe $15 million over the next year, $12 million in 2027-28, $9 million in 2028-29, $4 million from 2029-30, $2 million from 2030-31 and $1 million from 2031-32. If either athletic director Scott Dolson or president Pamela Whitten are no longer in their roles, the buyout will go down by half.

The buyout for him leaving for another job isn't that bad. It's just that Indiana is screwed for firing him.

So, if he leaves, he needs to pay $10M to get out of his current contract and gets first time NFL coaching salary (ain't nobody paying $10M+ for him)

If he stays, he collects $69M unless fired for cause.

Why is he leaving?

Because coaching in college probably sucks ass being a 24/7 365 job

Right, financially Sark stays.  No NFL team is going to help with the $10 Million to hire a college coach whose offense sucks worse than Meyer/Spurrier with no national championships to show for it either.   Unless he can get CDC to "agree" to accept Sark leaving without having to pay some or all of  the $10 million which is the point of the article.

yeah 15mil isn't gonna be a deal breaker for a school he'd want to coach at.

Also, Morris with PK….. gottdayum

Stop saying this.  CDC is not hiring someone with a grand total of 2 fucking years HC experience at North Texas and ZERO big program experience.   JFC it's amazing how fucking clueless our fanbase is.   The Texas job is a monster.   Night and day from Group of 5 bullshit.

exactly which makes all this so much more fucking dumb on sarks part.  he isn't getting hired by the nfl, all he ended up doing was making his current job harder. and turn the fan base 100% against him

he is legit even dumber than i though.  he must be drinking again and it's clouded his judgment

Franklin and Mack are two of the worst ideas in the history of the internet.

Kiffin is interesting.

Freeman is the way.  I don't know if he's gettable, but we need to be talking at 8 am on Monday.

I think this is a fair point.  But it's not like he is the "hot" up and coming coach that has some unknown upside that owners are willing to overreach.

Name me the last college HC to be hired to the NFL after college?   Kliff Kingsbury?

The NFL is a very insular league that very rarely hires from outside.

Fire up the flight trackers and drapery experts!

Don't know on the former, but on the latter I have heard that it's nice if the carpet matches the drapes, but it's by no means a necessity for one to enjoy the space.

This is all assuming (i) it's true and (ii) Sark had anything to do with the leak.   The latter makes absolutely zero sense.   If his goal was to leave for the NFL this year the dumbest thing he could do is leak it on gameday mid-season with entire season on the line.  There is very little chance he had anything to do with this coming out today IMO.
