Van Buren is . . . Not good.

In any event my guess is the committee is putting both Big XII teams in if last year in the ACC is any indication. I also think Vandy will be ahead of us for same reason OU is which is dumb because we lose out for our Ohio St game. But number of losses have always been the core stat in college football for better or worse.  I am sanguine about it at this point.  If the committee comes to its senses we are ahead of OU and Vandy.  It won’t.

Too many close wins and bad losses to shitty teams that the good wins couldn’t overcome because of the drop in rankings. Vandy, Kentucky, and Miss St matter just as much as Georgia and Florida in the negatives for Texas.

Except the could monkey around the final rankings on December 7 as long as they can justify it.

100% this. The CFP can do whatever they want. If they want us in they can do it.

aggy isn’t dropping to 10 lol.

I wouldn’t bet on that. There was a lot of talk about how shitty their schedule actually was. It’s gained some traction, but it may not cause them to drop that far.

I think the 21 point win keeps vandy ahead of TX as well.

Oh they should…but the committee is stupid. They’ll probably rank us at 14 or some shit.

If we aren’t jumping any 2 loss teams they aren’t dropping below any

That's like saying the deep fly balls your team caught on the warning track hurt you just as bad as the homers you gave up.

They didn't.  They just didn't.

I’d be pleasantly surprised if they dropped below any 2 loss team.  They should.  But the committee is trash.

Canceling those games is a dumb idea.  Play big games, have fun, get money.  Nobody wants to see us play New Mexico State.  We weren’t winning anything this year anyway.  Too flawed of a team.  Is it fair?  Who knows?  But play the good games.  Don’t be a bitch.

Plenty of people will watch us in the playoff though. That’s what matters. I wouldn’t cancel though, I just wouldn’t schedule any more.

OT for those shitty teams definitely impacted the ranking after.

My feeling as well. People acting like this is in any way similar to 2008 is silly. We lost 3 games, we’re not an elite team.

The system is broken. Go independent. Fuck conferences.

Aggie is going to be #6 (I presume they drop behind Oregon, Georgia and Ole Miss).  Which means if we slip in and are ahead of the Group of Five team…... at #11.

And if we didn’t play Ohio State we lose 2. We don’t 100% deserve it this year but it will certainly impact our future scheduling.

Publically cancelling puts us in bitchmode and we become memes for a generation.   Just stop scheduling future markee matchups. Front load the schedule with cupcakes as everyone else does and just win as wins and losses are all that matters not sos

If bama and domer holds on... still a chance if Tech curb stomp BYU again in big 12 conference champ game?

Now you're completely moving the goalposts.  This is 100% different argument than your last statement, which was objectively wrong.

Who gives a shit about memes. They can hold them up at our playoff games for all I care. CFB fans already hate us. Notre Dame isn’t ashamed.

Hopefully Satk goes into the off-season with his hair on fire and not that bitchmade shit he did last off-season which is probably the reason we’re here

What? Letting those shitty teams take us to OT and and letting Vandy come back impacted our ranking, like now keeping us behind Vandy and other shitty 9-15 ranked teams. The good wins like last night can’t overcome the drop in rankings because the teams in front didn’t lose

Today has sucked having to root for tOSU, TN, OU, and now Aubarn

i dont think it matters at this point. unless they literally look at #1 playing #2 on the road and saying thats not counting as a true loss while Vandy played  Charleston Southern and BYU played Portland State.

Teams cancel games all the time. It's a story for a day.

They don’t cancel every series they have scheduled against top programs like people are suggesting. How about we play and win the games?

Now that Vandy and OU are 10-2, Sark and our media team need to emphasize that we would also be 10-2 if we played Syracuse instead of Ohio State. So, with equal records in mind, Texas has head to head wins over BOTH of those teams therefore Texas should be ranked ahead of both Vandy and OU. (I have little faith this happens)

I know I'm in the minority here, but I just really don't like this argument that the Ohio St game was basically an exhibition that shouldn't count. Unless we win, of course. Then it counts bigger than shit (see Alabama 2023). We scheduled it, we played it, and it's a loss on our schedule.

I don't care either way.

But your side of the argument is just silly bravado. Why don't we play an elite opponent for every non-conference game? Because intentionally lowering your chances of winning championships is dumb.

Who says we have to play New Mexico State? I'm fine with Cal/ASU/Colorado/Wisconsin/UNC/etc. No reason to schedule OSU with a 9 game SEC schedule, when the Big 12 plays nobody. We'll still have more big games every year than we've ever had.

Its the the whole wanting teams to go out of conference and play ranked teams in true road games.

Nobody puts as much merit into it if its Texas vs Ohio St in at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Shit was in the belly of the beast.

Indiana has canceled just about every top OOC matchup they’ve had scheduled

It should count sure, but when comparing resumes with a clearly worse team a 7 point loss to the #1 team on the road to start the season should matter less when we are rolling down the stretch. It shouldn’t just be a straight up 3 loss vs 2 loss comparison. If that’s how the committee treats it we will schedule accordingly in the future, no love lost.

Fine. Don't play them anymore.

Yeah I get it. Let's make the argument though without basically saying "Once you toss out the Ohio St game...."
