This.  If UGA can't run, this is going to go bad for them quick.

I will go with option C - said pass falls incomplete nowhere near Wingo

Seems their run games pick up in the 2nd half. Or feels like it when they salted away Ole Miss and Tennessee

How many top 10 wins did James Franklin have? Because in the last month, we have had 2, and that feels pretty close to the mark he had over his 12 years at Penn State.

By the way, there is one thing that has not been discussed in the septic tank of a chat. Georgia destroyed Texas in the 3rd phase of the game last year. Texas is #2 in field position value this year and Georgia is #36. Texas is currently #3 in the country in FEI special teams. Not sure Texas is much better than Georgia in this area this year, but it should not be the mismatch it was last year.

Great point, Georgia’s punter was a cheat code for them last year and ours sucked. It made a big difference.

Georgia isn't #5 for nothing. They're a legit contender that eliminates variables by controlling the LOS. No single facet of their game is devastating, but put together, they keep the chains moving. When you slow the run, they throw play action to a TE that previously was sealing the edge, but now leaked out into the seam for 15 yards. Do you tell your pass rusher to ignore him again and have it happen again, or do you tell him to carry coverage?

Next thing you know, they've put up 24 points and you don't have that many.

Texas won the Sugar Bowl by not playing UGA's game. They played like a power SEC team. Texas played like an unpredictable Big 12 team. Over the course of the season, that introduces a ton of unnecessary risk, but when faced with a superior opponent, helps balance the odds for one game.

So this is a big game for Texas and Sark from a national standpoint and reputation standpoint for Sark.  There's the narrative that Texas can't get over the "Georgia" hump and that Sark is 0-6 against Deboer, Day, Kirby.  There is also everything on the line for this season.  Let's break it down.

Against teams with good defenses (Bama, Auburn, Florida) UGA scored 21, 20, 24.  The only teams to put up over 30 points on UGA were Ole Miss and Tennessee, yet both lost.  Georgia is effective in running the ball, their QB is one of the most efficient passers in CFB, and they are clicking in all phases of the game right now.  Then factor is Kirby working the refs and UGA getting all the calls against our last 2 games against them and against the rest of the SEC.  Georgia also doesn't lose at home.

Texas on the other hand has struggled to put up more than 20 points on all the P4 teams we have played until Mississippi State.   Our offense has looked good really through 4 quarters this entire year.  4th quarter against Mississippi State and first 3 quarters against Vanderbilt.  Neither defense has the athletes, bodies, talent, or schemes that UGA, Ohio State, Florida, and ou have.  Texas has also played 4 road games, 2 losses  and 2 OT wins against Kentucky and MSU.

Look at this match up, I will be utterly shocked if we can run the ball.  UGA has a good run defense but terrible pass rush.  I think Sark has to look at what Ole Miss and Tennessee did and what Georgia Tech has done against them.  I would throw play action out the window against UGA.  I would simplify everything for this offense in hopes of staying in 3rd and short.  Arch is going to need to run the ball when he can to get 3-4 yards and slide just to keep positive momentum on offense.  I would run zone read and limit the pass options.  I would attack their secondary and I would lean on Arch to throw it 30+ times.  We are going to have to win this game on Arch's shoulders.  I have no confidence in this OL, no confidence in our WRs, and no confidence from our TEs.  We don't have a #1 WR that can go and make a 50/50 catch outside of Mosley.  I hope that this is the Mosley's coming out party, and he can win 1 on 1s.  Wingo is the least physical WR I have seen in a Texas uniform since  Malcolm Epps.  Against a team like UGA, I'm not expecting much of anything from him.  Moore is a not elite in anything and will be good for 3 catches and 40 yards likely.  I think we're going to need Livingstone and Mosley to have big games and win their match ups.  Endries will need to have the best blocking game of his life this Saturday.  Baxter is going to need to play a lot to run inside and for his blitz pick up.

Defensively, I like how we match up against UGA for the most part.  We need to take away what they are going to do, which is run the ball.  We need to keep them in 3rd and 7 or longer.  As much confidence I have in our pass rush and run defense, our secondary has reverted back to its usual self.  Outside of last year where we had an experienced and extremely talented group, this secondary has been pretty average to bad every year PK has been here.  The pass rush is going to have to get pressure without breaking contain on Stockton and not hope our secondary is going to hold up for 4 seconds.  Hopefully having Taaffe back fixes our issues on the back end.  If I'm PK, I attack their 2 true freshman OL.  The bend but don't break defense is not one I would roll in with into this game.  We need turnovers, we need UGA to feel out of rhythm and we need to for them to win this game on Stockton's arm.  If they get ahead early and control the clock, this will get ugly.

If our defense can do the above and if we can get ahead of UGA to start the game, we have a chance.  The reality of it is this team has yet to put together a complete game in all 3 phases.  We are undisciplined in penalties, struggle to run the ball, do not pass block well and generally start slow and play catch up in all of our big games.  Given the above my heart says we win 23-21.  My head says we lose 20-13 with UGA being up two scores most of the game and us making it close at the end but never really being in it.

I (unfortunately) agree with a lot of your thoughts. Two quibbles, though.

First, our WRs, most notably Mosley and Moore, are excellent blockers. I would rather them be excellent ball catchers and route runners, but it is something they do very well and credit where it's due.

Second, I think the game in Austin last season looms large in everyone's mind. The CCG last year was an even match in terms of Sark vs. Smart coaching, and that game was essentially lost by a terrible kicker and the defense having a late game collapse. Those late game collapses are an unfortunate characteristic of PK's defense when he drops into prevent, however the defense would not have been in that position if the kicker had been worth a shit. But it seems like people disregard the CCG and focus on the loss in Austin, where we got our ass kicked. What people forget about that game, however, is how badly Ewers handled the pressure that UGA brought. Our OL struggled, but Ewers compounded that struggle. He self sacked and lacked mobility in the pocket. I like Ewers and am not blaming everything on him, but I don't know if that game will be reproducible. Especially when we now have a QB who is good at avoiding pressure. The OL has gotten worse, but the QB has gotten better (in terms of managing pressure), and I think it will be wash.

For those reasons, I think this game will look more like the CCG and less like the first contest in Austin. I agree that the odds still favor us losing, but not getting destroyed or being noncompetitive. I think our path to victor is slim, but not nearly as slim as people are making it out to be. Better kicking and punt returns may be the difference.

He might literally be retarded. I'm not using that world as an insult or jibe - he appears to have some serious intellectual and emotional developmental issues. I can't help being angry and snapping at him when he posts stupid shit, so I'm putting him on ignore on the off chance that he can't help himself. At this point, I'm worried that I am bullying someone with the mind of a child.

College Football Nerds did their preview and said that Texas and Georgia mirror each other. Texas with good defense and suspect offense and Georgia being the reverse. In the end they used common opponents and that clearly favored UGA, so both picked Georgia (which is the safe pick.)

However, one did point out that Texas has only played one home game against a P4 opponent this year and all the rest have been on the road or neutral. The lesson he took from it was that if Texas struggled with places like Starkville and Lexington at night then they should struggle even more in Athens. While I think that take has merit it also might be the wrong lesson, as also you could say that Texas has a lot of experience this season playing P4 road games against equally talented teams (Ohio State and Oklahoma) and at night (Kentucky and Miss State) and as a result may be more battle-hardened than everyone expects.

That said, I don't disagree with them both picking Georgia.

At some point, Georgia is going to line up tight on outsides and try to stop the quick WR screens. We need to hit them up the seams. Our O-Line was constantly disrupted in their blocking schemes by athletic defensive linemen that beat our guys to their zone blocking spots. Kirby knows this and will try to get pressure with just 4-5 guys early. It's going to come down to our 5 vs their 4.

That fake punt call in the SEC title game was demoralizing for us. We were ready to take control of the game, we had the momentum. We were never the same after that play.

This 100%.   The Austin loss was a beatdown but we outplayed them in the Championship game and should have won but somehow most seem to have forgotten that.  OT game with 2 missed FG's in regulation, a pick 6 that would have won it if Guilbeau doesn't celebrate and simply gets in the way and officiating so bad Sark (for the only time I can remember) had to say something about it at halftime.   Yes, UGA made some plays in the 2nd half and OT to win but we outplayed them that game

I’ve been thinking the same. He may change the formation a little, but he’s gonna show the same set up and try to throw deep. It will be picked off because Georgia will have 3 guys back there. It won’t fool anyone but the announcers and a couple of UGA fans.

I get this and it is completely logical. I am not going to too excited by this fact as Georgia is the worst at creating front 7 Havoc in the SEC, but the 2 teams right in front them destroyed the OL (MSU and Florida). Georgia has better defensive staffs than both. We will see if the OL is dramatically better, but I think the Texas offense mostly comes down to Arch putting on a cape.

How much 12 personnel does Sark trot out? I don’t necessarily have a problem with it, until he puts them on the end of the OL and then moves the rest of the team within a couple of yards of the ball. It’s not like they can block anyway. I bet they’d be good blocking out wide though.

First play is gonna be a double pass the more I think about it.

Sustained drives need to happen. Our defense being gassed by half time will doom us. Running will be tough. Quick passes extending drives and avoiding 15 second 3 and outs keeps our defense fresh

Yep. That game reminded me a little of the Arizona St playoff game. Completely dominated them, they have nothing really going on offensively. But just could not bury them as we should have. Luckily, we scored a punt return early against Arizona St to give us a bigger cushion. In both games, a play happens that gives them life and it was a completely different game afterwards. We missed kicks in both. We did make enough plays in overtime, though to win the Arizona St game, unlike Georgia game.

Hell, even the Clemson playoff game, we played with our food too much and let them hang around.

I'm afraid that it won't matter if we do stop the run.  Frankly, I kind of expect the theme to be that we stop the run, get them in 3rd and long but still get torched through the air.  As the game goes on I expect them to default to the passing game until we prove we can stop it, which we have not been able to do consistently since OU.
