What is the second 15%?

Anyone know the dynamics of Auto Gratuity?  Does it all go to the staff? I assume not, but am just curious.

Actually, that's just a confusing breakdown of the bill generated by the POS system.  Just ran into this at a local restaurant, where they did an auto-grat of 20% on parties of 6 or larger.  It looks like it's counted twice but it's really only counted once.  Of course our bill was nowhere near this high, but with about the same number of items.  I did the math in my head real quick, figured it out, then, for entertainment, turned it over to one of the women at our table and told her 'hey I think they counted the tip twice.'  Woman 1 and woman 2 bust out their calculator, somehow come to the conclusion that the tip is counted twice, complain to the manager, hilarity ensues.  I would've felt bad for the manager, but auto 20% for mediocre service offset any of that.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Raiders have secured access to nearly three times the number of parking spots they estimate will be needed on NFL game days at Allegiant Stadium.

Those spots will average $75 on game day, ranging from $40 to $100, and people holding personal seat licenses will have the option to reserve spots.

Raiders President Mark Badain said the Raiders have 13,000 parking spots under their control, and another 22,000 at nearby resorts.

The team estimates it needs about 12,000 within a mile of the stadium.

The spots will cost an average of $75, ranging from $40 to $100, Badain said.

An announcement at 10 a.m. Thursday provided information on parking, buses and walking access to the stadium. Tailgating was another topic addressed.

Badain encouraged fans who want to tailgate to arrive early on game days.

Plans for “Deuce” buses — doubledecker buses used by the Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) — include a schedule to run every 15 minutes from Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

The Hacienda bridge over I-15 will be reserved for people walking to the game.

The Raiders open their preseason on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Allegiant Stadium against the Seattle Seahawks. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

The regular season opens Monday, Sept. 13, at Allegiant Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff is 5:15 p.m.

Badain, Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft, RTC CEO M.J. Maynard and Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino President and COO Chuck Bowling attended today’s announcement at the stadium.

Returned last night from a 3 night comped stay at Palazzo. Great time, great food, lost some money as usual. In other words, perfectly normal trip for me which is really nice after the last year. A few thoughts:

1 - Crowds are a bit “interesting.” Imagine if the downtown crowds invaded the Strip. Some real shit shows, but didn’t see any major issues though. Hot as hell so didn’t spend much time outside walking. Too many little kids with their parents out too late at night and too many people wearing not enough clothing to cover their very large bodies but you be you, Vegas vacationers!

2 - best dinner of the trip - Carbone. All around fantastic meal. Our whole group raved about it. Highly recommend. Also enjoyed Beauty & Essex and Capital Grille and of course the Saturday brunch at Bouchon was perfect as always. Chica also very good for brunch. We ate really well.

3 - Table limits are pretty high. Lots of lame $25-100 6/5 BJ tables. Saw a 6/4 2-deck BJ table at Venetian but it was a $100/minimum. During the early part of the day you could find some $15 BJ and Craps on the strip but not at night.

4 - decided to go off Strip Saturday afternoon for some low limits gambling and ended up having a blast at Ellis island. Nothing fancy but the dealers were fun, they brew their own beer and everyone was in good spirits. Actually had more fun gambling there than on the strip. Played $5 roulette and $10 Craps and BJ here.

5 - Got to see the US winning goal vs Mexico at the Cosmo sports book. That was fun!

6 - Vegas was packed, as in wall to wall bodies. Felt like a fight weekend. Maybe 10% wearing masks. Some casinos had plastic up between dealers and gamblers, no dividers between gamblers. Otherwise no sign of Covid precautions. Basically normal. Loved it.

7 - didn’t love the asswipes who made two of our group late to Vegas because they had to create problems over the mask mandate and their planes had to return to the gate to let them off. How the heck do people buy tickets to fly and then decide they have to make such a scene that they get kicked off the flight? It’s a couple hours folks! How selfish can you get!?!? Hope it was worth it, assholes!

8 - never waited more than 10 minutes for a cab or Uber, day or night.

9 - Used Presidential limo for rides to and from airport. On time, great service, but man they are hard to get ahold of online or via phone.

10 - second time to see Absinthe. Everyone loved it. Of course it was packed out as well. Very raunchy humor which we loved but not a show for folks who don’t enjoy very off color sexual humor. I would not take my 70-something year old parents but our group in our 20s - 50s had a blast.

11 - Palazzo pool was very busy as was the connected Venetian pool deck. Venetian a bit louder. Got a cabana at Palazzo, enjoyed the peacefulness, and was glad not having to fight the crowds for a spot. Pricey though.

So @SydneyCarton can't help himself and has to overthink shit on our Vegas planning email string with our buddies and now, apparently, that Friday night's steak night is in jeopardy for who the fuck knows what at this point. Someone suggested sushi, now they're talking about finding a suckling roast pig. I'm waiting for Fat Burger to be suggested.

Anyway, @bigup2dahorns or anyone else got any steakhouse news that is newer than Bavette's? Anywhere putting a spin on a traditional steakhouse that could be a compromise? We've been to pretty much every steakhouse on the strip, so we'll either wind up rehashing those or making a mistake if something new and cool isn't out there. I can't even remember what the Cosmo's steakhouse spin is, so maybe that's one.

I swear to God if these fucktards wind up settling on sushi in Caesar's or some regrettable weird meats place, I'm grabbing an escort at the lounge in Aria and taking her to a nice steak dinner across the way at Prime and ignoring the plans of these jabronis.

As far as new goes, it’s not open yet but that goofy Salt Bae dude will be opening on the Vegas strip:

On Cosmo, I would assume you’ve been to STK and somehow forgot about it. It’s like a nightclub atmosphere with a DJ that oh by the way also has steaks. It’s a fun setup for groups and pre-Covid had a decent amount of hot chicks inside the joint. You don’t particularly go there for the food, but it’s not terrible.

Outside of that, I will have to rethink if there is anything new. There is one recently opened at the new Virgin Hotel (former Hard Rock) but I haven’t seen one word about it yet, and so far people say the atmosphere is dead over there.

How about X Pot. It’s at the Grand Canal at Palazzo. Not sure if that satisfies the need for a twist. I’m actually booked to try it soon.

This isn’t even remotely an accurate representation. Specifically the part where I said “sushi makes more sense for lunch,” you billowy cuntflap.

And let’s not pretend that going to a restaurant by jose andres is some kind of controversial choice:

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you here.  Lots of beef cooked over flame on the menu at The Bazaar.

Bazaar Meat (Jose Andres)?  Took clients there a few years back and was a big hit.  Sydney can even get suckling pig in addition to various steak cuts.  You can either get your own or they will slice them up so you can try different cuts.   We did a big table sharing meal and was solid.

Edit:  Oh shit didn't finish reading the thread to see this was the place.   Honestly I've hit just about every steakhouse in Vegas as well and this meal stood out.  Much better than my last visit to Prime on last trip pre-covid which wasn't memorable.

The actual place that Sydney is attempting to glom onto was never discussed. One guy said he’d be interested in trying menudo and suddenly Sydney and other dipshits are talking about “going authentic” instead of having steak night. Of course the bizarre meats place is interesting.

This was my exact thought.

Speaking of dead, to pile on to the Bazaar Meat discussion, the only time we ever went there, we ended up calling an audible after one drink and bailing because the place was so dead. No pulse, no energy, meal may have been great, but we didn't stick around to find out.

Yes. I mentioned suckling pig and you drew a bunch of shitty conclusions. I'm just glad that you're certainly cackling to yourself or out loud in your office like the madman you are you goddamn ditch pig.

To your credit, yes, when I just clicked over to Surly and saw a notification that you'd responded on this thread, I laughed out loud in the middle of my office. hahahahahahaha

Does anyone know when/if Le Cirque and Joel Robuchon are opening again?  Every time I’ve checked they have still been closed.  We are going through Vegas withdrawals, but we really want to go when at least one of them is open.

Le Cirque in particular is our sentimental favorite for a variety of reasons, but from what I’ve seen its owner died last year and the New York location has been “moving to a new location” since well before the pandemic.  It would really suck if it doesn’t come back, and I’m getting concerned.

I went by JR yesterday and there were no signs they were coming back soon. That whole area of the casino was just dead.

Bazaar Meat is our least favorite José Andres restaurant.  The food is good, but not as good as e’ or Jaleo, and the beef isn’t any better than the other high end steakhouses.  The location is a definite downer.  We did the grand tasting menu, which made for a surreal experience in a poorly-lit dump ass hotel and then walking out through the most depressing casino on the strip.

Thanks. This is good feedback.

Wynn Las Vegas rolled out a new customer loyalty club card on Dec. 21, 2020. Now, for a limited time, the company is offering tier matching.

Until recently, players at Wynn and Encore could join the Red Card program, but it didn’t have tiers.

Tiers are a big deal to gamblers, because the higher the tier, the better the perks.

At Wynn, the perks include free play, comp dollars and exclusive room offers.

After the launch of Wynn Rewards in Las Vegas (it had been around awhile at Encore Boston Harbor), players could attain three tiers: Red, Platinum and Black.

With tier matching, a player can use an existing loyalty club card from a competing casino to get a comparable tier level at Wynn Las Vegas.

For example, a Chairman level player at Golden Nugget gets a Platinum card at Wynn. A Diamond player at Caesars gets a Platinum card at Wynn. A Noir player in the M Life system (MGM Resorts) leapfrogs to the Black tier at Wynn Resorts.

You can see all the details on the Wynn Las Vegas Web site.

This is the first time Wynn’s loyalty club has offered tier matching, so don’t miss out. It’s a great way to make your favorite casino jealous, and you can never have too many dining and spa credits, free play or other goodies.

The opportunity to tier match ends August 31, 2021, so don’t procrastinate.
