Most are VIPs but they have some open seats. You have to get there extremely early to get them at Aria. As time passes, the number of open seats has gone down dramatically at every sports book. I’ve gotten so many different seat package emails over the last two weeks. Everyone is trying to sell the seats first. Last year it didn’t work. Most of the seats were empty. If someone tried to go in an entirely empty section, i would see them get kicked out quickly. Weird business model.

Our plan for almost a decade was literally me getting to the sports book at like 6 am to save seats. He says they're not selling them at the Aria as of today.

Best place to watch the game on Saturday?

TAP Sports Bar @ MGM Grand.  You will need reservations, but if you get in, you can stay for the duration of the game.  Did it 6 years ago one fine Saturday morning.   Besides the beer/booze, they have a full menu, so you can squeeze in a meal or two while you watch.

I feel you, I have a young kid too. But luckily she’s old enough that I can still slip away to Vegas for a weekend (4x this year). So there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Appreciated - Moving back to Texas will help too given closer proximity to 1) the boats 2) NOLA 3) Vegas

Lol

As someone in the industry, I’m pretty meh on this, but I bet they do well depending on what’s playable.

Could easily see retro, Madden, Mario Cart and FIFA being hugely popular.

Gaming is mainstream… if I could dial up NBA Jam at the pool on a big screen? Sign me the fuck up.

Well, I'm not likely to avail myself of the typical Vegas attractions anyway.  I don't care to drop tons of money of food (per diem regardless), and I am just good enough at blackjack not to blow out my bankroll in an hour (i.e., I don't count cards but I can memorize the basic "system").

Sitting by a pool and drinking a beer is good enough for me, even if it isn't swimming weather.  Glad to hear Harrah's isn't a complete dump.

You also have Paris, Bellagio, and Cosmo right there too.

If shenanigans aren’t your thing, go over to Bellagio and see O. Fantastic, just amazing show.

If slightly laid back from the full on hustle is your thing, maybe check out the Cromwell.

But definitely walk over and catch the volcano at the Mirage, even if you’ve seen it before. It’s not long for this world, unfortunately.

Or, say fuck it and get some marching powder and a couple hookers.

back late last night.

taco madera at crystals fucking sucked shit.  food was lame, service was abysmal, cocktails were out of this world good.  the dj had shit jacked up so loud for dinner that people were all just staring the ceiling praying someone would make it stop.  i know they just opened but they are fucking lost right now.

mayfair was a fun time and decent food.

guy savoy was great as always.

blackjack destroyed me.  craps was pretty good to me.  baccarat was 50/50.  hit drai's for some interesting times to say the least.  thought it was the same as marquee but...ummm, it's not.  that said, ja morant hooked my wife and me up with some champagne sprays (i think he was trying to bang her).  side note, prostitutes are getting pretty aggressive of late.  just holding a bag from a decent store walking back from crystals to the cosmo drew the approach.  two different ones asked me who it was for, i said "my wife...", and both basically said "does she like to fuck women or have her titties sucked?"  pretty considerate on their part to check.

FYI, for the discussion going way back on whether you need reservations at the sports books for early games (like texas and bama), i would strongly recommend you do it.  i was at the wynn sportsbook and the bellagio sportsbook on saturday from 9:30 to 6 and they were jam packed and roped off lines, etc... ymmv

I noticed this today on that same walk from Crystals to Cosmo - it was like 11 am and this tall chick in tiny spandex shorts popped out of nowhere. Thankfully she zeroed in on two dudes walking a bit ahead of me. They didn't seem interested but she kept talking/walking with them.

This was a brief trip for work. Cosmo wasn't crowded on Monday night, so it was nice to get some $15 craps tables. Slot machines are too damn complicated, I'm sure I'm not the only older adult to say this nowadays. I won over $100 on Wheel of Fortune but I have no idea what happened. Too many lines going on.

Sitting at airport gate now. Fucking redeye delayed 90 minutes for maintenance.

My last trip which was earlier this year I noticed the hookers still had their elevator game in tact. I’d be headed to get some coffee around 5am at Palazzo and stepping out of the elevator would see one pretending to play slots close by and another walking in the area. Next thing you know they are waking right up next to you asking where are you going and did you want to party etc. And this was mid-week. So I figured Vegas was headed back to normal operations.

I will be back out there again in a few weeks. Nothing special planned this trip so far.

Tom Brady partnership with Wynn/Encore:

Wynn Las Vegas announces a partnership with Tom Brady and Alex Guerrero's TB12, a holistic health and wellness company modeled and inspired by the training regimen of the famed quarterback and his longtime Body Coach. TB12 is built on the TB12 Method, a series of healthy daily habits across five pillars: pliability, nutrition, hydration, movement, and mental fitness. The TB12 Method fully integrates these pillars, designed around muscle recovery and injury prevention to achieve longevity and pain-free living, through the help of solution-oriented Body Coach experts.

"After our successful collaboration with the Wynn for The Match back in June, it was a natural next step to make this partnership official on behalf of TB12," said Tom Brady, TB12 co-founder. "Our TB12 Body Coaches who are the heart and soul of our business and experts in the field of health and wellness will be able to provide guests the exact blueprint of the work Alex and I have been doing together all these years. The addition of the TB12 experience to the Wynn's already premium lineup of wellness-focused offerings is an incredible opportunity for our team to reach all guests looking to continue their health and wellness goals while traveling."

Located within the Encore Fitness Center, the TB12 Body Coach sessions are grounded in innovative and personalized care, connecting guests one-on-one with training experts. The Body Coaches will develop a personalized treatment plan that incorporates the TB12 Method and each of the five pillars. In addition, nutritional snacks and TB12 smoothies and supplements will be available at Encore Juice Bar.

"TB12 is expanding rapidly in the marketplace and as we looked for a new partner on the West Coast, we knew the Wynn could bring forward an integrated wellness program for their visitors of all ages and level of activity," said Grant Shriver, CEO of TB12. "We're thrilled to bring TB12 to the Vegas strip, activating at the highest level at one of the most prestigious resorts."

The newest addition to the lineup of wellness-focused experiences at Wynn Las Vegas, TB12 Body Coach sessions join onsite amenities that include five-star spa services, an 18-hole golf course, and NutriDrip by Clean Market, among others.

"The introduction of TB12 signifies a fresh approach to wellness at our resort," said Brian Gullbrants, President of Wynn Las Vegas. "Offering guests a way to maintain their wellness goals while on-the-go demonstrates our commitment to providing unique amenities not found anywhere else in Las Vegas."

TB12 Body Coach sessions will occur at Wynn Las Vegas starting Sept. 22. Guests can book appointments as of today. Sessions are available to both visitors and guests of the resort.

I'm headed out to Vegas for a convention in January.  Looking for recommendations on places to stay since my usual, Wynn, is already booked up. Not much into gambling but more drinking, eating, and shows.  My wife will be along for the trip so she will want a nice spa.  And maybe a place that is on the monorail to the convention center would be a bonus.

For reference we have stayed at the Palazzo and Wynn previously.

Being easily accessible to the monorail tends to narrow down the choices as it goes behind the east side of the Strip. For a center strip location you could think about Cromwell and you have the monorail not far behind the property (station labeled as Flamingo stop). And then you have easy walk to dining/shows/spa across the street at Caesars and Bellagio. I’m not familiar with the room quality at Cromwell but assume it’s not crap.

Any recs for things to do in the area?  I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna be working the convention all day for 6 days.  Hoover Dam?  (How to get there?)  Other?  No hookers, thanks.

You can rent cars from most of the major strip hotels. Easy drives to see Hoover Dam, Red Rocks Canyon, or up to Mt Charleston Lodge (7,500 ft) to grab a meal. Some people like to go shoot machine guns or drive fast cars around the race track. Depending on time of year you might be able to see the hockey team play or the Raiders or AAA baseball in Summerlin.

Yeah, I'd be up for a round of losing a half dozen golf balls with rented clubs.  (Seriously, that sounds like a good idea.)

Eh, I've been to Vegas once, it's not really my thing, but this trip is at gunpoint.
