The messaging from the Republicans for 2020 is already crystal clear.  They will beat this trope non stop for the next 20 months until all republicans and both sider bitches believe it.

Democrats need to point out this was the same bullshit playbook they ran with Obama and history proved it was a total lie.  Don’t let these guys fool you again.

It's a choice between a candidate who is in love with dictators vs freedom. Repeat over and over.

Don't forget the Tahoe Special: I'm voting for SCOTUS nominees.

The absolute HATRED of Hillary could only get Trump a win by 100,000 votes in 3 states.  And those 3 states flipped back with a resounding trumpet of Democrat victories in 2018 - threw out 2 term incumbent Scott Walker in WI and both MI (+2) and PA (+3) saw net gains for the Democrats - as well as Michigan Dems taking back the governorship and the Senate Democrats in these 3 states romping to victory.

No 2020 candidate is going to ignore/take for granted these 3 states again.  I predict the amount of campaigning in these 3 states > campaigning time in Ohio and Florida.  3 states to take a win.  All it takes.  I don't see a single 2016 Hillary state that is going to flip to Trump.  But I can see 3-6 Trump states that could flip.

Don’t forget Arizona, a state with a large Air Force presence, not to mention Sheriff Joe Assholio,, that saw a bisexual atheist defeat a decorated combat pilot.  Trump personally campaigned for that fighter pilot as well.

I mentioned 3-6 Trump states that could flip:

Wisconsin
Michigan
Pennsylvania
Arizona
North Carolina
Florida/Iowa/Georgia

Maybe....MAYBE...NH could flip to Trump (~3,000 vote victory for HRC), but even if that flips but the 3 Midwest states flip back to Democrats, it'll still a 274-263 victory.  And that's enough.

They can try, but that doesn't mean it will work or stick.

A lot of people have forgotten just how hated Hillary was.  And how incompetent some of her campaigning was.  And that Trump’s base could not keep Obama out of the WH for 8 years.

AOC is about the only person that could generate that much angst and anger on the right, and she’s not going to be on the ballot, no matter how hard Trump tries to paint that picture.

Define dud/disappointment

When it doesn't really move the needle. If MSM says people did shady shit, but Trump wasn't complicit in a way that should get him removed from office. We know Fox News and Co. would run with the "TOTAL VINDICATION" angle in that scenario.

The MSM media has hyped this up to the point that unless the report is a blockbuster, the end result will be good news for Trump.

If the Dotard loyalists call it a dud.  It really is that simple.  It could contain video of Trump shooting babies, and a firm pronouncement that it's "Fake News," and its impact is ZERO.  Disinformation campaigns like Dotards -- denial of the obvious, repetitive lies, gaslighting, etc. -- those campaigns happen BECAUSE THEY WORK.

It has worked.  It will continue to work.  8 years.

Very true...but NY will move like Dersh on a 12yo with Trump's RICO case if Mueller doesn't deliver.  And he would be completely destroyed by the time election day rolled around.  They're gonna go balls deep and there's no dangling pardons for anyone in that mess.

This.  Hell, the amount of information in the public right now about trump is far beyond "dud."  A lot, probably most, of the country thinks he belongs on Rikers.  But 40% of the country finds justification for every heinous or unhinged thing he does.  And believes even the most moderate of dems is a communist extremist who wants to kill babies.   That dynamic's not changing.  No matter what is or isn't in the Mueller report.

Trump/Giuliani have been preparing the battlefield in the media for the Mueller report for two years because that’s the only thing they can do (because they’re guilty as fuck).

The Mueller report, if we get it, isn’t going to be something that can be spun like your typical NYT/Wapo story.  It’s going to be a historical document that people are going to have a hard time ignoring.

The Mueller report will be assumed required reading for voters and high school students for generations to come.

It’s a legitimate matter of national security that we get as many Americans as possible to read it.

You forgot the last part.

.....and it won't matter, because the base will ignore it, and the Senate does whatever the base wants, always.  So, nothing will happen.  People who know he's a criminal and think that's important will continue to think so. The people -- including the people in control -- will not care.

That might be the case for the short term with Trump and his posse of traitors but there’s a much bigger picture in regards to what the Russians did during the 2016 election and the public’s awareness/response to those revelations.

The Russian Federation is among the most nervous about the Mueller report because they know it has the power to turn public opinion even more hostile towards Putin and the Kremlin.  Their whole game is to divide Americans against each other while presenting Putin as a benign actor that we should be happy to get along with.

Mueller is going to put Putin’s shit on blast and mitigate his assault on American democracy.  That much is certain.  What happens with Trump is less consequential IMO.

Shit.   There's plenty of state legislatures that will pass legislation banning copies of and the introduction of the Mueller report from public school libraries and curriculum.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out ALEC has written up boilerplate legislation, ready for your favorite #MAGA legislator to introduce.

This guy gets it.  As soon as you start thinking of the GOP as the Vichy French working for and with the hostile foreign power, then you'll have a grasp of the dynamic.  It's not that they're failing to help -- it's that they're actively working in concert with and to protect a hostile foreign power.

Biden/Beto ticket.

Win!

Because Biden is an old “centrist” career politician with 40-50 years worth of baggage. He will be eviscerated once he announces.

The fact you take polls seriously when we are a year from primaries is so strange.

Well I’ll trust them more than the opinion of some dude on the net.

Is that why trump is losing in most of them? Because he’s obviously got the most name recognition.

Maybe we should do a Hillary v trump poll of name recognition and pick who will win based on that.

There is a war brewing in the Democratic party between progressives and the establishment. And the establishment will lose. If you don't see it, I can't help you.

We should probably take this to another thread if we want to continue.

Any of y’all watch “Patriot Act” with Hasan Minhaj on Netflix?

This week’s episode on Trump’s cabinet AKA The Trump Death Eaters and all the truly evil and insidious shit they’re doing behind closed doors while we’re all distracted by the orange clown and his headass sideshow is a must watch.

Fucking depressing and Brisket Ledge inducing but still.

On the bright side, though, everything they are doing is going to be undone by the next Democratic president.
