(guessing)   small communities outside of Georgetown would not issue the order and 1 larger town east of Round Rock probably wouldn't either

Cloroquine Phosphate is indeed taken on its own to treat malaria. Now, nobody is saying that the president is personally liable for these people's terrible decision making. However, it's strong evidence of the danger that comes from a lack of consistent message from the white house, and the president overriding his medical experts advice and counsel on the topic.

I saw it mentioned here long before ever hearing about it on TV. Does that mean I can blame you or some other poster? There has been no "official" recommendation. It's only mentioned in the pressers because it's being talked about in public forums and on news outlets and needs to be addressed.

The president said falsely last week that it was approved by the FDA. The direct quote from last Thursdays presser (which was the genesis of the idea) is:

"It's shown very encouraging -- very, very encouraging early results. And we're going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately. And that's where the FDA has been so great. They -- they've gone through the approval process; it's been approved. And they did it -- they took it down from many, many months to immediate. So we're going to be able to make that drug available by prescription or states. Normally the FDA would take a long time to approve something like that, and it's -- it was approved very, very quickly and it's now approved, by prescription."

Sounds damn like an official recommendation, straight from the president's mouth. And then two days later, some dumb shits hospitalize themselves after taking cloroquine phosphate via fish tank cleaner because they were so scared and the president said in the same presser that “It’s been around for a long time, so we know that if things don’t go as planned, it’s not going to kill anybody.”

The woman who survived said the soundbite was on alot and that “They kept saying that it was approved for other things and, you know, Trump kept saying it was basically pretty much a cure.”

So again, I'm not saying that dumb people doing dumb things is the fault of anyone besides those dumb people. However, if someone has the position and authority and platform to get the word out, the least they could do is use accurate and correct information that doesn't confuse the general public and give dumb people a reason to do a dumb thing.

Don't see why that's such a controversial thing to think and say around these parts.

Because if there's anything we know as Texas fans, it's that we should just allow the incompetent leaders that got us into the huge mess in the first place continue to manage the crisis and just hope they'll just learn to not be shitty. Because it's not like we have the pull and resources to do better or anything.

I too, am pissed off at President Xi

Yeah, I mentioned somebody I know a few days ago trying to get tested.  They finally got tested (no results yet), but now a family member has some symptoms, and is being refused an actual test, even though the doctor thinks they should be.   If person #1 is positive, she will get a test, but she’s in a holding pattern.

What the officials keep saying about testing is not matching up with what’s happening.   I told her she need to go to a news station like KXAN.

They should walk into a police station and start coughing on everyone.  I bet they get tested real quick and BONUS: they won't have to worry about their job going away as an inmate.

That isn't what the board is saying. It is saying emergency treatment only.

Obviously every office will be different. SA should certainly contact his urologist and see what their plans are for the near future. The recommendations are for surgeries in hospitals and surgery centers to maintain bed space and free up supplies. Vasectomies are in office, minimal equipment procedures. Where I am located, doctors are still performing in office minor procedures under local anesthesia (vasectomies, small skin lesion removal etc.). They are also still performing urgent (non-emergency) surgeries that should go to avoid unnecessary delay (breast cancer resection, chemotherapy port insertion, some spine surgeries...)

Given SA's recent proclivities, it may still qualify as an emergency procedure if the end result in 9 months is child support and a crazy baby mama.

I'm not trying to twist any words. The drug's shorthand name is chloroquine, and anything you search for "chloroquine" will also include the "phosphate", which is also in the medicinal prescription. Here's the medical facts page on it.

There's a second and distinct drug that's hydroxychloroquine. Both are used to treat malaria, and both are currently prescribed medicines.

He also said by prescription. Not via fish cleaner. If you are trying to be specific you should acknowledge that. This really is a very specious argument. No reasonable person would believe that the chloroquine in fish tank cleaner is same as for medical purposes. Just like I know rubbing alcohol isn't the same alcohol that I would find in beer although they both say alcohol on bottle.

Lots of things to get on the president about but this is really a stretch.

I don't think we'll ever be able to look at a 2 day trend to glean anything meaningful.  But NYC reportedly going from approximately 150 ICU Covid as of Friday to 620 (yesterday morning) to 780 today (if your stat is accurate today) is a pretty concerning 5 day trend line.

the 780 came from Cuomo today I believe, which means is probably yesterday's number..  Im assuming that was all of NY not just NYC.  where are you getting the ICU numbers for NYC and/or NY?  the ICU rate is likely important to track IMO.
