  1. As a 50-year-old man, I simultaneously said "Well, he's old..." and "Oh shit."

  2. Lol. Yeah, you’re handling it really well. 😂 Thinking foreign governments overseeing our elections is idiotic makes me Kid Rock. Well, of course it does! I mean, to you, anyone to the right of Bernie is basically Donald Trump, so why wouldn’t you think that? Take the loss, pussy.

  4. I've done the same. My childhood sounds a little like yours. Kind of typical, I guess. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make bat meat helmets.

  5. Not that time. It does however remind me of another mother/ daughter situation (no threesome) that was interesting in it's own way. I was working as a DJ and playing in a band and generally raising all the hell that life style would imply. I met a girl that was my wheelhouse, tall, slender with waist length brown hair. We had a Fwb arrangement for about 4 months until she met some guy and fell in love. Well about a month later I met a woman in the club I dj'd at, and although older, was sexy as hell. I had never been with an older woman before so I was determined she was going to be my first. We were slamming it about 4-5 times a week and this woman was insatiable. Turns out she was a widow who had been married to a Methodist (I think) pastor who died from cancer. His death totally wrecked her and she was determined to do all the things she had never done before she got angry with God and I lost her faith. Believe me she was doing a good job and was down for anything. The last time we were together we went to her house and did the deed as always. I woke up about 9 the next morning and got up to make coffee, tired and hungover as hell. I was putting water in the coffee pot when I heard "well"...wtf? "is mom any good or do I need to practice"? I turned around and standing there in her panties and T-shirt was my fuck buddy from months prior. Unfortunately when they both found out I had been sleeping with both of them, they were freaked out and I never got to tap either of them again. BTW .. daughter needed practice to catch up with her mom.....

  6. I agree with everything you said. But also to add, Joe and the Dems are going to completely fuck Putin as soon as he gets in the White House. Revenge against Russia is my only objective as a voter and a veteran.

  7. Well about 30 minutes ago a homeless guy in front of the W told me “Don’t believe the bullshit, SXSW is cancelled. We are all gonna die.” So, he’s been briefed.

  8. I assume we've got to be getting a price slash soon as well. Let's go United. Come on, baby. I know a travel agent in her 60's. She claimed this weekend that this is the worst she's ever seen the travel environment. That includes 9/11. I called bullshit and she was like "for reals". So my wife's got the pricing alerts set up. I'm assuming the west coast will have to slash prices the deepest. Haven't been to SF since last summer. Heading to LA with the family for spring break. Haven't been to San Diego since Legoland gave all of my children, and then they gave me, Hand Foot & Mouth, so that could be fun. I don't know. Maybe Seattle's prices get chopped to such a degree that it's a no-brainer. Looking good whichever way. I assume we're going to be only people at Universal and Disneyland/Cali Adventure. We can't lose. The funniest shit on this thread may be the predictable yet still hilarious gambit that the fucking Junior Miller guy made at claiming that an outbreak had started at an Arlington hospital but that "the authorities don't want you to know about it yet". That was, what, like 20-30 pages back? It was replete with "my friend who is a doctor called me with the warning and advice to stock up on supplies" and secrecy around which hospital in order to protect the friend who, if they existed, would be one of hundreds of employees at whatever hospital. God, that might have been the moment that this thread hooked me. I never read the first 60+ pages and maybe I should because I have no idea what treasure is buried in there. If it includes more SydneyCarton meltdown join-ins, I need to set aside a few hours here. In any event, I assume we're in for at least another 10 episodes of "Somewhere in Texas, I've heard that a secret outbreak is unfolding." I don't know, maybe I'm being too optimistic.

  12. Easy Democrat campaign plank to pay for free college: I will pay for free college for all by not paying 1.5 trillion dollars for a military war machine that we don't need. Here's what we could do with 1.5 trillion dollars. There are approximately 80 million Americans age 18 and under. Graduate high school in the top 10% of your class and you get $60,000 for college. Graduate in the top quarter and you get $30,000. Graduate in the top half and you get $15,000. Everyone else gets $9,000 (for community colleges, trade schools, initial living expenses while working, to buy a car for job interviews, whatever). All of that is paid for by the F35. 100% paid for. And hell, that math assumes that all 80 million of those kids graduate high school so there would actually be about 117 billion dollars left over due to the roughly 85% graduation rate. Yeah, I keep going back to the F35 boondoggle but it's only because it's the easiest round number to look at. It is only one example of absurd levels of spending that doesn't actually do anyone any good (other than the military contractors) that nobody seems to care about.

  15. For the record, I was the first person to call AK a troll. And he is, and probably a sock too. I'm not going to spend my time looking into it further than his posts here. I do wonder why close feels he needs to dust off his cape and do some white knighting on behalf of an obvious troll... but that's up to him. back on topic... This dude gets it

  16. Sorry, dude, but you are probably the biggest fucking nut on this thread. You’re constant, repetitive, hyperbolic, and yet also monotone and boring. So I negged this post. Get a fucking grip. Even if you are absolutely correct in your hysteria, you weaken your position with bullshit like trying to crowdsource dissenters. It’s bad board behavior.

  20. I'm a life long construction worker who started with a shovel at 14 years old. I spend every day with the literally poorest people in the country. You are inadvertently pointing out something I have tried to explain to people for years. The average American truly has no idea who the rich are and how much they have. The guy making 420k a year still lives a regular life. A cozy one, but he is paying bills and mortgages, putting his kids through school, all the things. He has almost everything in common with the person making 55k a year, culturally, structurally, and otherwise. He just has nicer shit. The guy making 10 million a year has nothing in common with this whatsoever. We draw the line way too low on who we perceive as "rich" or "elite". It's all relative, and people can only know what they see, but that is the reality.

  21. This is why the Democrats lose, because they get tricked into caring about this kind of thing when the other side absolutely doesn't. "Taking care of the sick costs a lot of money! Educating our populace also costs money! Where do you think you're going to get all that money?!?!?" "Oh well, I guess you're right, there's no way to take care of our people." "We are spending $1,500,000,000,000 on a fighter jet that doesn't work. I wonder where that money came from?" "Who gives a shit? Just cut the check."

  22. Obviously it would be foolish to say Biden is a lock, considering the wild swings that have happened over the last couple of months (let alone the last couple of days). But what's happened with Biden's surge is not really about Joe Biden. It's about Dems rallying together and the comfort/relief/excitement that comes with it. Biden has a lot of issues, but they're mostly baked in. Verbal gaffes and votes he made 20-30 years ago are not going to move the needle against him. People just wanted a candidate that could bring the base together, and in the end Joe was the only one people were willing to settle on.

  24. I agree with point 2 completely. im no political analyst but, does anyone see Biden actually losing any states that Clinton won? Virginia just had 2008 level turnout and that state was one that trumpers were hoping to flip. Nevada and New Mexico? Yeah right. I can’t see minorities showing up to vote em masse for someone who calls their relatives and friends a bunch of criminals. Biden should beat trump in Pennsylvania. It’s a homefield advantage for him. The main reason trump won Wisconsin and Michigan is because blacks didn’t show up to vote for Hilary in both Detroit ( MI) and Milwaukee? I think is the city. Biden will turn out those black people. He proved that last night. i don’t like some of Biden’s policies. I wish the next democrat president would be more friendly to weed reform, but the main objective and the main reason people voted last night was electability. They want someone who can beat trump. They are sick of having some fucking orange moron for president who acts like a fucking child while he suggests we nuke hurricanes in the sky and give people flu shots while telling them they’re now safe from coronavirus. at least with Biden, you know the house is probably safe, we can still make a run at the senate, and the Texas Democrats can still compete for the house on the state level. Republicans and the GOP were hoping to face Bernie, they wanted to use him to get back the suburbs, they wanted chaos, they want things to be shaken up and they wanted to nationalize ALL of the races while hoping Bernie would bring down ballot carnage to the democrats so that Trump and the GOP could go back to passing policies that only 25-30% of the country agrees with. A trump presidency is 10x more unbearable when that fucking idiot has full control of government. Remember, he actually has the audacity to blame the democrats for things not getting done while he has total control. Fuck that orange piece of shit. I hope he gets the fucking corona virus.

  26. It wasn't Joe's fault. The damn republicans were able to keep taxes way below what they should have been, gas way cheaper than the environment could stand, and kept obamacare from being the government takeover it was meant to be. On top of that, he was doing time in South Africa with his buddy Mandela, having meetings with dead rulers, playing hardball with Russia, Iran, and China, and intimidating corn pop back into the shadows of the hood. In his spare time, he always had time to display his unique kind of love for children everywhere he went. And then Trump got elected. A man can only take so much. The man did the work of ten great men. It only makes sense that 3 or 4 of those men would have a few issues. If Joe could just get elected president, he would only have to be one great man. For him, that would be easy.

  27. I'm stunned. That Craig Way call sends chills down my spine. Amazing stuff. I mean it doesn't make up for the years of abject malaise Shaka's brought to the program, but this run has been impressive and straight up punching OU in the nards at the buzzer on senior night is 1000% awesome.

  28. And yet crickets when Trump went after Sotomayor and RBG. Schumer should apologize. He was way out of line. But if Roberts is going to chime in he needs to be balanced. Otherwise he looks just as political.

  29. Man--I really just don't get where you're coming from on this. I don't understand what is "dicey." Are we in agreement that Buttigieg and Klobuchar weren't winning shit? I mean, we can agree on that, right? We can go back to the polls and the fivethirtyeight.com model and show that neither one had a real path to the nomination. And we can agree that neither one had any money in the bank, right? That information is far from transparent, but that's what I've been hearing consistently. And it's consistent with the fact that Pete's (in particular) fundraising completely dried up. So we agree that they were going to need to drop out, right? We're only quibbling about the timing, right? I mean, if that's the quibble, then I don't get it. They knew they were going to have to drop out. So rather than stay in a race that they both knew they weren't going to win, they got out at a time at which they still had leverage to get something out of it. Compare them with Bloomberg. Do you think Biden gave anything to Bloomberg to get him to quit the race? Fuck no--he didn't need to. Bloomberg lost. And that would've been Amy's and Pete's fate, too, if they had stayed in until today. And look at Warren. She still have some leverage. Her withdrawal and endorsement still have value. But if she waits another week or two, it won't. She needs to cut a deal now. I mean, is this news to you that this is how this works? Are you surprised that when one person has something of value to another person, and the other person has something of value to him/her, that they will work an exchange? I understand not wanting to know how the sausage is made, but seriously--what the fuck?

"Its just the coronavirus" And in their sequestered chambers They turn on their TVs Their eyes glass over and their brains grow dim In a picture of normalcy Then sometime in September There comes a knock at the door "You're quarantine is over, ma'am!" "You can go back to where you were before!" But they just lay there staring At the picture on the TV They don't hear nothing 'cause The Bachelor's pickin' his bride to be!

  34. 1) AK hasn't added a got damned thing to the discussion other than "you can't believe what you read" as a response to people trying to engage in discussion. I asked him to clarify his position and his response was along the lines of "all I know is we are not all going to die" Is that the type of thoughtful dialog you seek? So I called him out and neg'd his post 2) I'm all ears my man, why don't you articulate for me AK's position... perhaps I'm an idiot and missed his nuanced and critical take 3) It's hilarious that you think "whiteknight" and "triggered" are unique to Surly CR. You're gonna love the internet, you should try it out sometime.
