On the BON podcast, Roach said that Ewers called Tim Beck at NC State and asked about the decision to commit to Texas and Beck fully endorsed the program and Herman...good fucking assist Beck33 points

You realize "the staff" you're condemning has been completely retooled at every coaching position except 2, 3 including Tom Herman, right? This is like the idiots at OU or Texags who talk about "texas doesn't develop talent" and cite the last decade. Like Charlie Strong has FUCK ALL to do with what happens under Tom Herman. Also, you specifically cited 3 defensive players in what we can ALL agree was a complete shit scheme. So this dog don't hunt.16 points

Brisket prices are down again. Found this 9.5# prime brisket at Costco for $2.69/lb. 2:1 pepper to salt ratio, smoked on my BGE for about 6.5 hours at 275*. Wrapped in butcher paper and rested for 1.5 hours. Homemade Mac and cheese and potato salad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk13 points

“Ossai is a first round draft pick” “I think he’s a second round draft pick” “Fuck you! You’re wrong. I’m right. He’s a first round draft pick!” Suck a bag of first round dicks! He’s a second round draft pick!” Super cool debate dudes!12 points

That's odd, I recall that the Obama Administration grew alarmed at the recurring frequency of animal to human transmittable viruses and came up with something. What was it called? A hoax? No, that's not right. An injectable bleach cocktail? No, that's not it either. A plan? Yes, I remember now. An interagency coordinated plan in the event that the inevitable happened. I wonder what happened to that.12 points

My FIL is dying. Diagnosed last August. Inoperable liver cancer. He did a 3 month stint of oral chemo, hated the side effects (shitting himself...more than his usual once a week) and decided 78 isn't too bad if he makes it. Lifelong smoker & alcoholic who was never gonna change. My wife has been the smart "rock." After their dad was diagnosed, she worked with her mother, brother & sister to work out the logistics. She's the one who asked the tough, important questions while others asked about songs to be played at services. She brought everyone to the table. At her last visit to her parents pre-covid in January, she asked her dad if there was anything else she could do to make him comfortable. His response was "vote for Trump." She told me she cried the entire 2 1/2 hour drive home. Not that she was surprised--he's farther right than Atilla the Hun--but because in that moment he cared more about that fucking despicable asshole being re-elected than coming to terms with his daughter.8 points

If football even happens this fall I would table everyone but the team. No band, cheer or pom. Just the team be on the field. Let all the support groups wait until next year. In terms of playing/not playing "The Eyes" I really don't care. I support people's right to protest. I also support businesses rights to dismiss people who protest. I then support consumers/voters etc right to punish businesses who dismiss protestors etc etc It is the great circle of life.8 points

I definitely feel like there are a lot of people in both parties (#bothsides) who don't realize that in electoral politics, the goal is to win the election. They'd rather sit there and be ideologically pure as the driven snow and never have power. Kasich is important. There are a bunch of people out there who may or may not consider themselves Republicans today, but who are disgusted by Donald Trump. And at the same time, they're surrounded by Republicans. And so no matter how much they may despise Trump, they'll vote for him because of that social pressure. Kasich creates that permission structure not to vote for Trump. He's somebody that most Republicans know. Hearing a bona fide Republican say "it's ok to vote for Joe Biden" is hugely important to creating that psychological permission that will allow them not to vote for Trump. They don't even have to vote for Biden. If just a few of them in Ohio don't vote for Trump, Biden will will Ohio. And if Biden wins Ohio, this thing is fucking over.8 points

Dumb fucks bitching about Kasitch are wasting their time and ink being outraged. Writing articles, chastising, what a fucking joke. Democrats will drive 15 miles out of there way to shoot themselves in the dick. Every. Damn. Time. It’s done. He served a purpose. Cut up his shit and paste it into commercials and campaign sound bytes the next 2 months. Instead they want to write about pooooor AOC, the future of the Democratic Party. If we don’t win this election there won’t be a fucking future of any party other party. Get back on point, dipshits. note, that screed was directed less at posters here and to the idiots wasting time writing articles and op eds online. But some posters here could use a sharp slap to the face as well.8 points

You hit on an important point here. I believe that most of our current state of affairs can be attributed to the loss of community. Fewer Americans belong to groups that yield community identity, and too many of the groups that do exist preach negative Us vs. Them views. People feel disconnected. Isolated. We focus on ourselves and our own problems. That breeds depression and anxiety. I feel like this country could really benefit from a mass movement to create local groups focused on service, community, and camaraderie. And it wouldn’t hurt to sprinkle in some enlightenment ideals and some actual knowledge of things like history, science, etc.7 points

Look. It might feel good, but it really doesn’t do anything to change anyone’s mind or help the conversation. Case in pt: my dad. An otherwise hardworking man. College educated. But talk to him about COVID? Jesus Christ. DNAgramps: I just think there’s a lot we don’t know DNAguy: You’re right. DNAgramps: I think it’s like any other virus, but people are genetically predisposed to die from it. Me: What? DNAgramps: That’s the only explanation Me: How so? That doesn’t make sense. It’s a novel virus that hasn’t ever existed. DNAgramps: No. Not true. Studies show that it’s been around. It’s only now that people are dying. It’s like the flu. Me: What studies? Where do you get your information? That makes no sense. There’re co-morbidities that make you more susceptible. Age, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Those come from genetics. But old people die from this more than young people. That’s not genetic. DNAgramps: I just think it’s genetic. You’re wrong. How else do you explain it. Me: I just did. DNAgramps: Well we can’t be shut down forever. Me: Ok, well now you just changed the subject.... Later that evening: Me: I. Mean, it’s pretty sad about the President’s brother dying DNAgramps: He died? ME: Yeah, and it sucks that the President couldn’t be by his side. DNAgramps: Well he was busy. You know, being the President. You just don’t like him and will find anything to pick apart. Me: Dad, he was golfing. DNAgramps: No he wasn’t. Me: Umm. Yeah he was. Would you like to see a picture taken from yesterday? DNAgramps: And Obama played basketball everyday at lunch. You didn’t have a problem with that. Me: What?! DNAgramps: He did. Look it up. Me: Look it up where? You can’t just say shit like that and then tell me to go look it up like you are versed in Obama’s schedule from 2009-2017. Trump is documented playing golf for almost a quarter of his time in office. DNAgramps: Business is done all the time on the golf course. Me: Oh Christ. This is like arguing with your 4 year old granddaughter. I hope you realize that. [he did not]7 points

Stop what you're doing. Roll over. Call for help once you are in a safe place. You may have contracted a very serious disease known as aggyitis. Common ways to catch this disease include: - Spending time in BCS - Spending time on aggy message boards - Copy/pasting something an aggy has said on the internet - Nurturing relationships with barnyard animals - Saying things like "that one didn't count!" and "you didn't win we ran out of time!" Please inform anyone you have been in close proximity with recently that you may be a carrier of aggyitis. And remember, a world without aggy is a world for our children.7 points

Max Olson @ The Athletic: Ehlinger to Ewers: How far Texas’ QB room has come via Tom Herman’s blueprint has a number of quotes from Riley Dodge in it text:7 points

If Jalen Milroe is afraid of competing with Card — he was never going to start for a Herman-led team and its highly unlikely he will be willing to compete enough to play at Bama. He can try to claim it’s about Yurcich but the timing is clear — Ewers got him shook. He simply doesn’t have the competitive sickness of someone like VY.7 points

Same amount of national championships in that time frame. Their MNC gap was 49 years. Ours was 35. They won a bunch in the 40s. We won a bunch in the 60s. They've won the Big 10 more than we've won the SWC and Big 12 in that time frame. They too are getting lapped by their main rival. They too are underachieving given their advantages. They too make terrible head coaching decisions in the period after one of their most winningest coaches was forced out. They are the Northern Blue Blood long lost twin of Texas.6 points

There is some interesting info in here on what went into the P12 thinking. Brings up some good points, but also finishes by saying that Bruin fans should just get used to the fact that UCLA will never prioritize football over academics or other institutional missions (primarily medical where Geffen alone has donated over $450 million over the last coupe of decades). I guess there's pride ot be found elsewhere other than the football field. But the football field would be nice too.6 points

There are a lot of assumptions here. Thompson is in year 3 now and has a very good grasp of this offense and our program. He's also a better fit for what Yurcich wants to do with this offense. It's the same offense he ran in high school and Yurcich was recruiting him and had offered him at okie lite. I think we'll be pleased with what we see. It will be a rebuilding year with new tackles and centers next year. May not be a bad idea to have a seasoned upperclassman QB to start the season and let Card battle it out. We can't afford him to grad transfer out and start a RS frosh with a young inexperienced OL. That would mean JQJ would be the only back up if Thompson transfers. Not worth the rist in my opinion.6 points

Yurich is showing that he's a competitor. I didn't like it at first but the gamble paid off. He's not coaching to lose. He's recruiting like he's at tOSU and going after the best regardless of prior year commitments. That's a hell of an attitude he's bringing to Texas. I'm liking this man already and he hasn't coached a down as a Longhorn.6 points

It's straight out of Goebbels playbook. Amazing that so many people can't see it unfolding right in front of us. They probably can. They just don’t care. Because they want to believe him. Trump is a moron overall, but he’s an absolute genius at homing in on desperate stupidity and feeding it what it craves. There’s a huge bloc of insecure, unsophisticated, angry Americans. Trump identified his marks long ago and he has played them beautifully. And the thing is, he didn’t really con them. Oh, he might not deliver on any material promises. And the rest of us will point that out and shout “He lied to you! You’re voting against your own interests!” But the truth is Trump gave his rubes exactly what they really wanted all along: vengeance on their cultural enemies.6 points
