  1. Does anyone actually think Satya is a woman? That’s ridiculous. Just because he constantly complains, second guesses every decision, can’t understand the points people make, is always scared and worried about nothing...

  2. I never thought the country could tolerate a president who abused the office for personal profit. I never thought the country could tolerate a president who abused the office for personal political gain. I never thought the country could tolerate a president who openly, actively, seeks and receives foreign assistance to influence American elections. I never thought the country could tolerate the open politicization of the justice department, and the use of power to protect political allies, while punishing political opponents. One political party is responsible for all of this. Fuck whoever is arguing “both sides” in this election. This country has already become a banana republic that only benefits corrupt glad handers taking their grift while they can. I’m honestly not sure the damage from this administration can be undone.

  3. The actual rules Scott is proposing are pretty crazy: * All ballots must be counted within 24 hours after polls close. * Over the 24 hour period, election judges must solve a series of hidden clues that provide hints to the location of each ballot to be counted. * Election judges must keep at least one hand in contact with the Dodge Ram at all times during that 24 hour ballot-counting period. * Spectators may heckle or flash election judges, but may not touch or throw Big Gulps or half-eaten Doritos Loco Tacos at them except during the hourly 15-minute Lightning Round. * Ballots must be counted backward from 100, by sevens. * Following the 24 hour counting period, the two highest-scoring election judges will battle obstacles and Gladiators Nitro, Turbo, and Blazer as they race through the Gauntlet. * Each election judge is encouraged to form an alliance with an election judge of the opposite sex. Those who do not are vulnerable to elimination at the hourly rose ceremony.

  4. It's insane. He literally possesses not a single positive quality. He's a liar, a cheat, and a thief. He's weak and dumb as a rock. He's a con man, a grifter, a carnival barker, a snake oil salesman. He's petty and vindictive, holds grudges, calls names, and throws tantrums like a toddler. He embodies every cliche of the "ugly American" as seen by the rest of the world. He's rich, stupid, loud, arrogant, and abrasive, totally insensitive to anything other than his own immediate desires. He deserves nothing but contempt. I don't think I'll ever understand how anyone can fail to see it.

  5. The 9/10ths of a second comment has me rolling. For comparison, high school Huff only needed to improve his high school time by 8/10ths to break Usain Bolt's current world record....you know the one that is quite frankly mindbottling.

  6. Democrats aren't blameless. They deserve blame for being pussies and failing to act more decisively to stop Republicans from destroying our democracy. What they don't deserve blame for is making Republicans destroy our democracy. That's domestic abusers' logic. They didn't make the Republicans what they are today. Republicans did that to themselves. Democrats should have done more to warn the country about what the Republican party was becoming, but didn't.

  7. Reading this thread makes me want to off myself. It’s just like politics in this country. If you don’t support a group/party in everything they do and say then you are a liberal, racist, nazi, kkk member, communist, Marxist, socialist, bible thumping nut job. Everything isn’t black and white. Most shit is grey. A group can have great intentions and still have bad members who do bad things and those bad members should be called out.

  8. Uhm, you could start at the part where I said anything at all about Bryan Allen. I said not one word about the kid other than pointing out that his combine numbers did not measure up to Huff. Huff who in a world of freaks (the NFL) was a fucking freak. Allen is a really good football player. I don't think you'll see anyone here say otherwise. That entire take was about Nahlin plucking Huff out of the air and how absurd that is. There's a million players to use as to compare Allen, some of them might even be similar in some way. Huff won the Thorpe and was a top 10 draft pick and was an elite defender at FS, SS, and CB. Most importantly when you compare someone to Huff the immediate take away is "he must be an incredible athlete". Allen is not. If Nahlin said "he reminds me of Bryant Westbrook" - what is the first thing you'd assume, before you even looked at the HUDL? "This is going to be 6 minutes of a heat seeking missile killing kids" That would be my thought. If the player clearly isn't a striker at all, would you think that was a good comparison to use? When Nahlin invokes Huff, the expectation is simple - "Easily best athlete you'll see this decade. Here's film of a kid that could play CB, WR, FS, SS all at NFL levels." saying 9/10th of a second might make it feel like a tiny thing but that is the moon. Make a list of all of the guys that have the run 10.36 in high school at 6" 185+ with a frame to carry 200 easily. That list alone is really small. If they have to actually be good at football, it gets even smaller. If they could play even one position at an AA/NFL All Pro level it gets even smaller. In a world of freaks, Huff is a fucking freak.

  11. Even if they “knocked and announced” someone knocks on my door in the middle of the night when I’m sleeping, says “police” a second later which I may or may not have heard, and another second later knocks down my front door with a battering ram, and you expect me to act rationally and also not think it’s a criminal breaking in 2 seconds after being woken up in the middle of the night. Fuck anyone trying to defend this or that the cops only got charged for the bullets that missed.

  12. The problem with this approach is it continues to deify the innovative but flawed original construct and accord undue deference to its authors. You have to state at the outset: the founders, especially the Virginians, we’re attempting a new form of government while trying to ensconce existing capita structures. 2+ centuries later we need to state the obvious: hey, there’s some cool stuff in there, but it’s time to interpret the constitution and govern in modern time. The document is not designed for a world were the proletariat has full suffrage and half the population is immigrant/POC. Whatever Madison and Hamilton thought in 1789 is fucking irrelevant. The next time somebody says “But the Founders vision...” ima say “Fuck the founders, they aren’t here”

  16. We should also make a law/rule that telling a material lie on a police report is 1) a terminable offense that 2) disqualifies the person from every holding a licensed peace officer job. We disqualify pedophiles from working at a daycare. We should disqualify proven liars from a job where their lies can do things like put an innocent person in prison, or justify the assault or murder of a person. Being a cop is a job of public trust. Breach that trust, lose your job.

  23. Agreed. The Dems have their issues, but they aren't in the same fucking ballpark, aren't in the same league, and aren't even playing the same fucking sport as the Republicans right now. The GOP has controlled the Senate since 2015. They have controlled the Presidency since 2016. They controlled the House until 2019 when the Dems took over and who haven't done shit with it except mount a warranted-but-farcical impeachment that accomplished nil. Where America is today vs 4 years ago is the result of Donald Trump's "leadership", the GOP senators providing him with an umbrella of invulnerability and the people that voted for them and who will continue to do so in spite of everything Pig mentioned. If you want to identify whats wrong with America at this point in time, there it is. We shouldn't even be talking about Democrats or Republicans. This election is not a choice between two different yet equally valid ideologies. There are not two valid sides to racism, civil rights, human rights or representative democracy. There is simply right and wrong. Good and evil. Those are the choices before us in this election. It is time to stand and be counted for what defines who we are at the most basic level, not just as a nation, but as human beings.

  24. lost in all of this is the absolutely great news that trump, once again, said the quiet part loud. every other gop moron with half a brain would've answered the question, "of course, that's what makes america greater than any other country, that we hold free and fair elections, and we honor the results. we are very pleased with our polling numbers, and i think you'll see come november, when we triumph, that there won't need to be any transfer of power." then, you go and try to suppress votes and steal the election however you were going to all along. but now it's out there that he's ready to fight the results. so when the results aren't good for him, and he fights them, everyone will be ready, because he fucking told us he would do this. obviously most of us suspected it already, but now it's a top story in the news and cnn can't stop talking about it. this is the difference between a fuck like trump and a fuck like mcconnell or bill barr. they do shady shit in the shadows, whereas trump can't wait to go brag about it.

I am mostly just infuriated that a Trumpkin would concern troll about an "indiscretion" yet be absolutely fine with Trump and his Republican base shitting all over basic decorum, not to mention the Constitution and the rule of law for 4 years. Fuck GRHorn and his tut-tutting.

  27. Would go a long, long, long way. I know I've related this before, but a couple of years ago, had a candid discussion with a federal judge, and he disclosed that around 80% of his docket was what he called "border related," and almost all of that was drug cases (some human trafficking, but mostly drugs). Later, I commented on how I thought it would be cool to try a case at the new Federal Courthouse in Alpine, it's really beautiful: He chuckled. "They don't try cases down there -- they built that just to arraign drug smuggling defendants." Before, they had to keep buses running in the parking lot, with the AC on, because there wasn't room inside the old small structure for all the defendants each day. Look at the resources spent in terms of time and money....and your ability to get a bump of coke at the club is the same that it was 50 years ago. We have broken ourselves, we did it on purpose, and we refuse to change.

  28. When I was young and everything was black and white I used to think we didn't have a problem. Drugs were bad. People who sold drugs were bad. People who did drugs were bad. Police who caught drug dealers were good. Then I got educated. I realized that the first drug war was simply a politically motivated attack on the communities who could negatively affect that current Presidency, and the political climate of the day. That President was pandering to a voter base who wanted their thumb placed squarely on the heads of the minorities. That President would go on to be the "Bill Walsh" of the Republican Party, and his "West Coast Offense" playbook would be passed along to all his understudies. Reagan would come along with the same strategy, except this time His Administration would actually be pumping the drugs into the streets themselves as a way to fund their behind the scenes activities. So now I know that Politicians are actively creating a situation where Law and Order needs to be implemented. Then they are inflating sentencing. Inflated sentences require more prison. More prisons are built. Enveloped handshakes are made. Police are taking money to turn a blind eye, and then raiding certain shipments to eliminate certain competition on the street for one cartel over another. The confiscated drugs then go missing from evidence and end up right back on street, and it's rinse and repeat. Once I learned that I wanted an end to the war on drugs. It is an absolute success as far as it's real intention, but an utter failure as it was presented to the American public. This Breonna Taylor case is a direct descendant of the war on drugs, and another life was senselessly taken in an effort to put yet another person in prison to line the pockets of the man. Time for it all to end. An end to the war on drugs is an end to the need for no knock raids and kicked in doors.
