  1. If you step back and consider that “I am the least racist person in the room” wasn’t a disaster for Trump, but “shut down oil production” was seen as a blunder for Biden, it’s really amazing how far apart the two standards we’ve set for these candidates really are.

  2. This is quoting you but not really directed at you since everyone does it. Man I hate the R word. My hope for the future is that everyone tries to make an effort to replace it with something else.

  3. You’re really missing the point here. Citing to hiring Herman as OC as a reason to pump the breaks is really dumb. They had the #2 offense in the country in 2014 when they won the national title and they had the #3 offense in the country the year before when they had a QB who was terrible at throwing. The whole reason we want Meyer is that when you have a competent HC who knows how to run a program and instills discipline and a strong culture, then everyone is much more likely to succeed. It’s not about hoping you hire the next great coordinator because the odds of that are low. Instead, you find the right HC and then lots of people can have success under him. Urban Meyer has had elite offenses and defenses almost every year he’s coached. He’s had a bunch of different coordinators over the years. Some have proven to be good coaches in their own right, others haven’t, but they still had a ton of success under Meyer.

  4. It's very unfortunate you continue to be a willfully ignorant shitbag. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321995 Top 3 devices to reduce stuttering: 1. Slow down 2. Avoid trigger words 3. Try mindfulness I would suggest you take the 3rd tip to heart for your own edification, but then that would probably be too "librul der der" for you.

  5. why do you think the majority of those people would have still died? we have no fucking plan and we are 7 fucking months into a goddamn quarantine. we have no national plan, the president constantly fucking slags the actual fucking scientists, makes a mockery of people wearing masks, and he actually fucking caught it. we have no fucking state plan, the governor constantly tries to undermine local efforts at leadership. we have a rainy day fund here in texas and we've done nothing, despite the fact that this is the fucking rainy time for which that was desgined. the republicans have done fucking NOTHING on covid. we've had one fucking stimulus check of $1200. that's fucking it. no plan like the UK 80% payroll furlough. no protection for front line workers. no protection for people who have lost their jobs. there's been FUCKING NOTHING on a leadership front from anyone with an (R) next to their name. NOTHING. yes, we would have always had some people die from this - that cannot be helped. but we have 20%+ of the total deaths of this thing, and we have 4% of the world population. that math doesn't fucking square with "well, most of those people would have still died." this will be trump's legacy. his great shame. people dying, kids in cages, tax cut that destroyed the economy (trickle down my ass), destroying ally relationships, cozying up to dictators, it's all so much bad. i'm trying to understand what it is that you like about this orange shitstain. honestly. he is our shame.

  6. I work for a oil company and I voted for Biden. Neither Biden or Trump has much control over the industry, for me it’s more of a choice between having a total shithead grifter or someone that seems like a decent guy as President. I would give up my job if it meant having a good country to live in. There are plenty of other ways to make money and plenty of things more important than money.

  7. "Minstrel shows" are not the issue. Minstrels were performed for over 150 years by both black and white performers. Great American traditions of music (jazz) and various forms of dance were directly derived from minstrel shows. The rise of minstrel entertainment roughly traces the rise of the American city. Plain and simple, people wanted light entertainment accessible by the masses. The problem with minstrel shows is they often portrayed offensive stereotypes and cruel satire. Blacks also attended minstrel shows, usually in support of black performers. It is that support that allowed the first black performers to exist on Broadway (did you really think contemporary whites were the ones promoting greater black representation in the performing arts?). For those who don't know "Jim Crow" of "the Jim Crow era" fame was one of the first popular minstrel characters dating to the 1820s and is pretty much the first character to appear on stage in blackface. If you think EOT is controversial, just wait until Univ of Kentucky is asked to end "My Old Kentucky Home" because it is "racist." Pretty much everything from the Ragtime era was used in (if not written for) minstrel shows. Jazz derived from minstrel music, are is jazz. Rock evolved from blues, hip-hop from jazz and blues. Is it all racist because of its minstrel roots? Put the band on indefinite hiatus, help them learn about the 150-year history of American arts and entertainment, and after that see where the consensus on EOT is. Simply asserting (minstrel=racist) is naive and simplistic. So there, a defense of minstrel shows, but with a delineation between the shows and their content. People were assholes then, just as people are assholes today. If we start erasing every era of history because the assholes from a given era left big piles of shit all over the place for the rest of us to clean up, we will continuously seek to erase everything without cleaning up the piles of shit. I personally don't think EOT is a big pile of shit from the 1920s. I truly believe that in attending UT Austin there is a "it" to get. Not everyone gets "it." In my mind, the EOT tradition has been a reminder that the education I obtained has given me incredible opportunities in life. To me, the tradition says "the eyes of Texas" (past, present, and future) are watching to see what I do after leaving the 40 Acres. "The gift" of a UT education comes at a price, which is to both live a life and also give back in a way that extends the gift I was given down to the next select lucky few who get to attend UT. I participate in the tradition of EOT to express to those who worked to help me get "it" that I still appreciate and remember what I have been given. That, and to pass down to current and future generations the part of the "it" that asserts the way one repays others is to do great things with what has been passed down to them. Part of the "it" I was given is the belief integrity is how one acts when no one is watching. For some of us, "the eyes of Texas" are upon us, even when no one is watching. I sing for very personal reasons. Some people get 'it." Some people don't. "The Eyes of Texas" evidently means different things to different people. That is why I participate in the EOT tradition and will continue to for the foreseeable future. And I don't care if someone thinks that makes me a racist.

  8. Wait. You think one comment from Biden about transitioning away from fossil fuels to renewable energy could lead to him losing the election?????? Seriously? I know Texans have a bit of a problem with thinking they’re somehow special and better than everyone else but my god. News flash - 97% of Americans don’t give a blue fuck about what he said and by this time next week, 867 horrible, weird, or unprecedented events will have happened and then 100% of Americans won’t even remember he said it. It’s like some of y’all have subconsciously bought into the Republican talking points about about Biden being senile and Biden being a gaffe machine. And since Biden has not only been pretty gaffe free but he’s actually been pretty damn sharp and impressive y’all are looking for shit to turn into mistakes. The complete overreaction on this board about that comment, while ignoring the hundreds of lies and terrible shit Trump said last night has been something else.

  11. Before the pandemic hit, I had a few interviews for better jobs. They asked me how my experience would apply to the new job and some strategies I’d take for dealing with their problems. I yelled at them about their unfair questions and asked what their questions were for the other candidates. They were so biased that they hired someone else.

  12. Look, everyone, I can put this whole oil thing to rest... I went to TexAgs last night and they were throwing a Trump victory celebration over the comment. They are convinced that Biden just sealed his fate in literally every swing state and Lean D state over that comment. They think Trump is getting over 350 EC votes. When TexAgs is that sure of something, it is doomed to be the exact opposite.

  16. The fragility of the Trump voter is astounding. Taking his ball and going home. He makes a comment, and when his feet get put to the fire over it he is being treated unfairly. Sound familiar? Had a friend from a couple decades ago who tries to play non Trump supporter, but does it poorly. He posts a meme about censorship when the whole NY Post thing happened. I called his ass on it. We are going back and forth when he goes in on the dems starting the whole cancel culture and such. I said..... " and there it is..." He just exposed the real reason he was voting for that fool and it was he didn't like the feeling of being oppressed. I said, welcome, Black People have been here for decades. He got mad and left me some bullshit IM and then blocked me. Good fucking riddance. If you are picking some politician over me then keep it moving, and when your guy is out of office and it's all over keep your ass over there in the corner with the dunce cap on. You exposed who you really are, and I thank Trump for bringing them all out for us to see.

  17. Fud The tax cuts passed by the Republicans during a growing economy that have caused horrific deficits and debt issues - Does that bother you as a conservative? The lack of a healthcare plan for four years, including when they held the House, while simultaneously trying to take down the only viable healthcare option for millions of people - does that botching of the issue bother you? Promising an infrastructure plan for four years but never once actually delivering one - does the lack of action bother you? Having become completely detested by allies around the world because of Trump’s juvenile behavior - does America’s reduced respect bother you? These are just some examples of a party that says one thing but doesn’t actually do what it says. And one final one - Graham’s and other republican’s hypocrisy by stating in 2016 that they would wait in 2020 on a Supreme Court action, but then didn’t. That doesn’t bother you? They flat out lied. Over ten thousand verifiable lies on Trump’s own twitter account, directly from him. Why would you ever believe anything he or his party says, ever?

  18. Yeah, why should we try to determine if a Supreme Court Justice is or isn't a morally bankrupt person or investigate whether or not the president is a morally bankrupt person and/or a traitor? Let's just de-regulate everything, including the vetting of our most powerful people! Fuck it, just make the stock market go up and cut my taxes! I mean, I didn't get raped by Brett Kavanaugh or Donald Trump and I can afford to feed MY kids and send them to college. Who gives a shit about anyone else? Also, praise Jesus.

  19. The whole point of transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy is because of global warming and pollution and nothing to do with price. News flash, the transition is already happening. BP just announced a huge investment into Offshore wind and no new exploration in new countries. The resident Oil bull saying it doesn't make sense to have this conversation at low oil prices disregards the entire point of transitioning. It may be more easier for one side to engage the conversation at a higher price, but reality doesn't give a fuck when it's convenient for one side. Global warming is not going away, and the transition isn't stopping. But Eastwood is correct, anyone on the green side who thinks we're getting rid of oil and gas for good is also ignoring reality. Energy demand isn't going away. Until renewables can supply a large percentage of demand, we have to relay on fossil fuels. Oil will always be around for jet fuel, plastics and natural gas will always be needed to supplement wind/solar/hydro because of intermittency unless that problem gets solved. Biden correctly answered the question and only histrionic pussies saw it anyway else. Here is the transcript Trump: Would you close it? Biden: I would transition from the oil industry, yes. Trump: Oh, that's a big statement. Biden: That is a big statement, because I would stop... Moderator: Why would you do that? Biden: because the oil industry pollutes significantly. Here's the deal Trump: That's a big statement Biden: well if you let me finish the statement, because it has to be replaced by renewable energy over time, over time, and I'd stop giving to the oil industry, I'd stop giving them federal subsidies, he won't give federal subsidies to the gas, excuse me, to solar and wind, Trump: yep Biden: why are we giving it to the oil industry? Trump: We actually do give it to solar and wind, and that's maybe the biggest statement in terms of business, that's the biggest statement, because basically what's he's saying, is he is going to destroy the oil industry, will you remember that Texas? will you remember that Pennsylvania? Oklahoma? He's "shocking statement" was he's going to support the transition from the oil industry to renewables over time OMG the horror. I'm pretty sure most progressives would think that's a pussy moderate comment that says nothing. Was anyone expecting him to say DRILL BABY DRILL, like Trump?

  25. I'm not going to defend how our country has dealt with this virus, but: Do you really trust numbers from any other place in the world outside of western Europe and some select Asian countries? Russia, China, Iran, India, etc., either do not have the political will or the resources to accurately report their true numbers. So, your premise is wrong. The United States does not, in reality, make up over 20% of the world's cases and deaths. The single most frustrating thing to me about the past 8 months is the near silence from our political leaders of all parties and our public health officials on the most important things that people can do to improve their likelihood of surviving COVID: eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and lose weight. Our country is disgustingly obese. It was inevitable we would get hammered by a virus that causes more severe outcomes in obese people. One of the main public health components to combating this virus should be tackling obesity. Instead, because we live in a "you can't fat shame me!" culture, there is utter silence on this vital point.

  26. So we've gone from "Global warming is a myth" to "Global warming may be happening but its caused by natural reasons" to "Humans may be partially responsible to Global warming but there is nothing we can do about it" to "The effects of stopping global warming would be worse than global warming itself" to "Now is not the time to talk about it." Progress I guess, except everyone of those statements were incorrect (or lies) when they were said, and are incorrect (or lies) now.

  29. Show me where Joe Biden ever was involved or received money from anyone in China or tied to a Chinese state entity. You fucking can’t you troll. It’s insane to me that history is repeating with Trump accusations. You know what his biggest critique of Hillary was? That she was running a corrupt and fraudulent non profit that improperly benefited her family. Guess which of the two had their family foundation dissolve because of fraud? Now it’s the same shit but with China. Trump took millions in payments from the Chinese tied to foreign business *while fucking President* - that is actually provable. Now go get your shine box

  30. And of course we're still talking about oil and not the batshit stuff that continues to come from the fat orange fuck. Do people seriously not care that he literally took pride in having a good relationship with Kim Jong Un? The human rights violator and a danger to all of southeast Asia? That Obama and Biden demanded that he denuclearize before any meeting and that trump is a weak af pushover who legitimized him without any preconditions? It's amazing how shit like this gets lost in the swamp of batshittery from this asshole and we're now talking about a benign comment about the need to expand renewable energy. This country is so fucked and it's pretty irredeemable at this point.

  34. Except their opinions deliberately stomp on women's rights to choose, general education, separating families, a national healthcare mandate that could save tens of thousands of lives, voting rights, greenhouse gasses, federal aid for blue states/cities whose tax dollars are used to fund poor red economies, etc. Our disagreements are rhetorical while theirs destroys lives. We can argue Biden's plans because he has plans--it's rhetorical. Meanwhile 220,000 dead and growing are the direct result of an incompetent mismanagement of our nations resources. That's reality. Let GRH fuck himself if he enjoys getting screwed by the government.
