Not nearly as easily and breakthrough infections are much more rare than someone unvaccinated contracting the virus. These are all facts. It's called the preponderance of evidence. Anyone can find 1-2 articles showing bullshit one way. The way we practice medicine is we look at ALL the studies then form a consensus. Sorry, science is not on your side. There's a lot of doctors in buttfuck america supporting your view too...like I said preponderance of evidence. Am I saying the doctors in major academic centers opinions count more and their studies are better? Um...yes, yes that's what I'm saying.18 points

You need to shut the fuck up and move on or you are going to get banned. I'm not going to sit here and let you just spout random bullshit. It's okay to be skeptical, it's okay to defend other people that are skeptical. What you are doing crosses that line.16 points

Ive been admonished for talking too freely on here. So I'll start communicating mainly in picture, gif, and youtube form. No one Ive talked to has mentioned anything like this on Stewart. Would be big news if he said anything like that to the staff. Here's my feelings on Evan Stewart as of yesterday, which is meant to be taken as a positive.16 points

That said, the good news is we aren't recruiting anyone named Evans16 points

What Rona conversation? He was aware of his situation, made a personal decision that he's 100% entitled to make, and is now dealing with the consequences, none of which will put him in jail or give him a criminal record. Sounds pretty cut and dry to me.15 points

Said my final good girl to my partner in crime of 12 years yesterday. It’s been a long time since I’ve dealt with losing a pet, but she had a hell of a life and fought a good fight. Never had a single issue with her health wise until the very end. It’s the little stuff that really hits me, like making the kids lunches, I always gave her the crust. Today, it went in the trash can. It is also going to hit me hard today when I get home from work and she isn’t there waiting for me. Fuck. Thank you for everything Zoey, you brought so much happiness to our lives.15 points

Got my first elk Saturday. DIY public land with my hunting buddy; about 5 miles off the road into national forest, 8400’ elevation. Packed out the head, cape, tenderloins and straps on foot, which took four hours. Luckily a friend loaned us a couple horses to pack out the quarters the next day. Pack out and deboning took 14 hours total four two guys. We’re whipped. Not a giant, but a decent bull for this unit, and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer setting. This bull was still rutting and didn’t want to go down. 3 shots through the chest with my 300 Weatherby at 300 yards before he went down. The exit wound you see is from a hard quartering on shot that entered in front of his right shoulder.14 points

He will always be remembered for the Iraq WMD fiasco but his legacy is so much more than that. A deeply talented strategic thinker who understood statecraft and the levers of power, especially how the use of arms should supplement diplomacy and not the reverse. Probably the last SecState who cared about the institution of American diplomacy and tried to take care of the people there like we seek to take care of soldiers. RIP. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/18/us/politics/colin-powell-dead.html13 points

I'll translate: "How dare you use paragraphs when communicating in the written form? So [you are] the Surly [admin]? [You] use big words hurled in my direction, [you] will get a bunch of angry misspellings and racist tropes thrown back in your direction, sir. Everyone else in here seems to be more tolerant of my abject torturing of the written English word, therefore my replies have been the same." Something like that, I think.13 points

So people like Colin Powell have more protection. I have a patient right now who is 88, on chemo for prostate cancer. People on chemo are about 40% protected by the vaccine. If they get the virus they can get very sick and die11 points

Great name! In other news, on the flight from Austin to L.A. I noticed a dude get on with an old beat up Fender case. When he sat near me I asked him what was in it. He said, "Buddy Holly's Telecaster" and I mentioned how interesting that was since he's so identified with Strats. He mentioned how he went from an Ensquire to the Tele and I was floored. Never heard that before! The guy turned out to be Randall Bell, Leo Fender biographer (whose book with Phyllis Fender is available on Amazon). Very cool guy, (even showed him a pic of the music room to prove I was a kindred spirit) we talked quite a bit and when we arrived at LAX I made a joke about it being a win that we were flying with one of Buddy Holly's guitars and we landed safely. The plane landed better than the joke which surprised me cause that shit's funny. In the terminal he opened the case to let me see the guitar. He opens it up and it turned out to be Buck Owens' Telecaster! A-ha! His mind mustve been somewhere else and Buddy Holly's name slipped out. All of sudden our conversations made much more sense and all my references seemed less like I was a crazy person who only talks about Buddy Holly to strangers. (Inside the case I noticed an email from Redd Volkaert outlining the provenance, as if this guitar needed it.) He let me hold it which was surreal. I grew up on Buck Owens and classic country. Bakersfield sound > Nashville sound. Super cool guy. He's opening a Leo Fender museum in Fullerton where this guitar will be featured.11 points

Longhorns play their best ball at 11 am. It's about 1:15 when they start to suck.11 points

I'm pissed, I'm not at all happy with what has gone down the last 2 weeks. I'm disgruntled at the fact that we have had 2 similar 2nd half collapses which led to losses in games that were wins. I'm disgusted with the pathetic excuse of an offensive line. That doesn't mean I'm shutting the site down. That doesn't mean we aren't going to have a tailgate for Kansas and Kansas state. That doesn't mean we are going to stop paying players. Get your shit together and stop embarrassing yourselves.10 points

Well, I guess that makes the needless deaths ok. We probably shouldn't have had vaccines for diseases that had more people survive than die. What a fucking idiot.10 points

Dammit. I thought the thread title said ‘Texas Longhorns’ instead of ‘Washington St’ Carry on.10 points

Wanted to see this with my own eyes so I made this chart. Green is good, pink is bad. This is going back the last 20 conference games. Wish I could figure out a way to weight the timing of the calls. Did it bring back a Texas score? Or a key 1st down for Texas? Or did it give the opponent a key 1st down? What was the score when the penalty was called? In the last 20 games…Texas has had more penalties called 14 times, opponent 5 times, and 1 tie. In the last 20 games…Texas has had more penalty yardage 15 times, opponent 5 times.10 points

I know I'm just a lowly Legacy poster here but I really am not loving the new thread title about Seven Win Steve. The Oh No We Suck Again was pretty funny actually and it made fun of us as message board weirdos and our emotional swings. I know the owner of this thread can do what he wants but aren't there a million other threads to hammer Sark for the losses. Why have the main recruiting thread harp on the same theme? Something more original and way less pouty. I know the thread owner likes to punch back hard and I'm cool with that when he does. Because that's fair . . .9 points

I got to play out for the 1st time since before the pandemic this weekend and the pink Tele got some action, the P-Bass too. Good times. This was our drummer girls 1st ever live show, a block party - she just began learning to play during lockdown. She was pumped afterward, thanked me for helping introduce her to a new high. I was shocked we pulled it off.9 points

Here is a letter I received in 2012 regarding mandatory vaccination or get fired notice. This isn’t new people. If you attended UT you also had mandatory vaccination or GTFO notices. This is the way it always has been. There is no constitutional right to employment. Comply or exercise your right to get fucked.8 points
