Predicting the future is hard and we all know that. There are things that each one of us fundamentally knows will happen in our own lives this week and we will be wrong about a bunch of those internal predictions. So I type this with that in mind: I donβt think the sentiment is there to 86 Seven Loss Steve before the end of year 4. People are tired of turnover and turmoil, and that includes every level - the admin, the money, the employees, the players, the recruits. People like the guy. You can see legitimate signs of player development. Heβs recruiting well and not doing so naively. Heβs hired a mostly sound staff and folks seem like they think the infrastructure work he is doing is making a difference for the future. He will be here through 2024 barring scandal or utter collapse. That isnβt me advocating or saying anything absolute. You guys know I am most ardently in the βshow meβ category with Steve Sarklostagain, but thatβs my read being around some of it. Beyond that, and due to the positives I alluded to, I find myself in the weird spot personally of feeling like heβs got a shot to figure it out. I think if the dude takes the Patterson role for the offense, where he is really involved in the strategy and planning and then letβs someone else call the plays, it could be a breakthrough. I think he is a wizard strategically on offense but he is prone to ineptitude on the tactical side when the opponent makes adjustments. If someone like Marion were actually calling plays and Sarkisian could watch the defense make itβs adjustments to their plan, it might actually be a strength. Thatβs probably far fetched as itβs part of his identity, I know. I see his personality type being more likely to do something like that than Fisherβs type, however. Whatever the case, if the guy doesnβt figure out how to overcome his clear mediocrity in handling the offense after good defensive staffs make their adjustments with their teams around the half, it will be his undoing. More than the defense or personnel, the offense going from the team strength in the first half to a team weakness in the second half is what is destroying outcomes on the schedule both this year and last.22 points

This board is so fucking bipolar. We lose to Tech (we suck, won't win 4 games). We beat WVU and blow out OU (playoff bound!!). Now we're back to losing out. This team is about what most of us thought it would be. Capable of beating anyone in conference by double digits if we actually execute at a high level on offense. But shitty enough on defense that we can absolutely lose to anyone if we implode offensively like we did in the 2nd half yesterday. We lack depth on defense and flat out do not have an Ossai like playmaker that can take a game over. The defense is improved enough to keep us in every game but they won't win it. Especially when we are dealing with Absolute Shit and Biased Big 12 refs that are NEVER going to give us a blatant hold or benefit of the doubt on a PI. We lost because our FR QB had one of his worst games probably at any level combined with absolutely horrid second half execution at all levels. Even Bijan not immune to criticism as he has to see that blitz on the swing pass and know the ball is coming out fast. He turns around that's a huge gain. I don't want to watch 2nd half film but if I do I'm pretty sure you can find big mistakes across the board that contributed to 3 fucking points on our last 10 drives.19 points

Man you guys are way off. I don't think Ewers was hurt at all. I think it was a combination of rushed throws because guys were coming completely unblocked and receivers just absolutely dogging it, not willing to help out their guy. That's why I think that the Card thing is silly. Like what was his ball-holding ass gonna do? 42:00 Ewers lets one go and Worthy makes zero effort to go and get it. Just runs and sees its a little out of his reach and gives up. 42:35 Bijan goes out into the flat for a pass. On his release the DE runs right past him completely free. If he was looking he would know the ball has to come out quickly and be ready for it. QE throws it in the only place he can as quickly as he can. No help from teammate. Next play I am not sure what route Cain is running but the ball location has to go to his right shoulder or else possibly get picked by the safety. 112:48 Bijan misses his responsibility and the LB comes completely untouched causing this rushed throw. QE had a shallow crosser but even that would've been tough to get there. This one was on Bijan. 130:30 The three layer look that someone swore we didn't run. Blitzers comes completely untouched causing QE to have to try and sidearm something around him and hope Whit makes a play. 132:02 Sanders misses a block. Man in face where QE would throw causes to have to throw around him. Errant throw. 144:00 Just a complete lack of effort by worthy on the deep ball. Ball lands a little short and to the right of him by two yards. Go get the ball. 222:55 Ball is high and Worthy is trotting and makes no effort to jump and high point it. 234:30 Blitz and has to throw it away. 235:25 Ro runs a nice route but isn't expecting the ball which hits him right in the hands and he drops it 244:45 Watch Jones get put on his back causing QE to rush this throw. Even so he knows Worthy has his man over top so he throws it for him to come back to with plenty of air underneath it and as usual Worthy seems uninterested in making a play. Ewers was off but if you were paying attention a lot of it was because we were allowing OSU to speed him up/throw it too early, and in some instances he was trying to throw around a free blitzer. Some of you think Card was going to come in and make this stuff going on around him NOT happen. We know Card holds the ball longer than Ewers so he would've been sacked. Secondly, receivers weren't making an effort. Every ball isn't going to be perfectly in stride. Sometimes you have to make a tough catch and we simply didn't. We have to keep QE fairly clean and someone on the receiving corp not named J-Whit has to play with some effort and want to.16 points

I donβt know anything about the βcultureβ of the team, or what that really even means. I do know that Texas has always (for as long as I can recall) been said to have βcultureβ issues, even when we were good. I mean hell, in Mackβs best era there was still a perception that Texas had a βsoftβ and βentitledβ culture while winning 90% of its games. So, culture, intangibles, whatever - mostly seems like bullshit to me, and less important than the QB making fucking accurate throws.15 points

Yeah that one handoff Ewers had at OSU was incredible. Heβs regressed since then for sure. Heβs a fucking freshman. That OU game really fucked our fanβs perception of what this team is and who Ewers is at this early stage in his college career. This team can play with anyone and lose to anyone.15 points

Reading the facial expressions: Flounder on the left knows heβs not even making it to the bus with his shit. Igor in the middle is thinking: βIβm going to make some money selling these dipshitsβ stuff.β The guy on the right is pondering how much of that sausage heβll be able to consume while Flounder is being beaten up before Igor comes for him.13 points

Texas was far and away better at every position. The refs jobbed us and the team got fucked by moving away from what was working to throw more incompletions. Xavier worthy dropped that touchdown which was absolutely necessary to not lose. Bijan and RoJo got forgotten in the 2nd half and it was stupid. The coaches let them hang around instead of daggering them and this is what happens when you don't just break someone's will and leave them thinking there is a way to win. Texas had no business being within 3 scores of OK state for most of that game, then the implosion happened. 17 unanswered and only 3 in the 2nd half. Oklahoma state didn't all of the sudden get good in the 2nd half. Texas sucked so hard they lost a game that was already in the bag.13 points

I guess we've reached the stage in the UT coaching cycle where a small but loyal number of irrational apologists has emerged that will excuse almost coaching failure. Strong had several, even right up until the very end. Herman had almost none, mainly because he's an asshole. Sark's likeable and his play designs are top notch, so it's no surprise he has a few. I think all of us were/are pulling for Sark, but our initial instinct when he was hired was likely the correct one.13 points

Itβs concerning that Sark said he never even considered pulling Quinn. Hell, even Peyton Manning was benched for Brock Osweiler during Denverβs most recent Super Bowl winning season. Dabo benched DJ for stinking it up, all in the name of exhausting all possibilities to WIN THE GAME. Itβs disrespectful to the team to not give the next man up at least a shot to make a spark. I gave Sark a pass last year, as it was year 1, but a man is what his habits show you he is.10 points

yep. i was as frustrated as anyone yesterday but the meltdown is so fucking tired. the "6-6 is optimistic" and "qbs regress under sark" takes are just so fucking stupid it makes me feel bad for the people who actually believe that shit. this year has been about exactly what most of us predicted coming into the season. if the team doesn't fall apart in november, we're gonna finish right around the preseason consensus of this board. sark does need to win a road game though.9 points
