  2. First TV I ever saw was like this 16” Zenith (below) at the Fort Leavenworth Officers Club bar& lounge in 1950. It was sitting on top of a wooden highboy hutch. Didn’t see another TV until 1954 when we were back stateside in St. Louis and Dad bought a 19” GE tabletop b&w set that could get 9 channels (only one in town though). After I was married we had a 19” Sears portable b&w set. The in 1976 my FIL gave us a 12” Sony color portable. It was amazingly cool and out kids were in awe. Presently we have the old Panasonic plasma ($1,600 in 2006), a 43” Samsung 720p plasma (β€œfree” with BB coupon about 10 years ago) in the bedroom, and a 50” Samsung 1080p smartass lcd ($360 from Costco) in the living room. We have no idea how to utilize the β€œsmart” features or stream anything. The cable TV is fine with us. We good.

  3. It’s weird that some of you guys don’t understand how fucking ads work on the internet. Hint: it’s not geared for Texags, it’s geared toward y’all.

  4. No matter what they say, Republicans are terrified… …of women, education, sexuality, non-white people, non-Americans, poor people, homosexuals, equality, the homeless, marijuana, peace, sacrifice, devotion, community, compassion, but above all, the thought that they might not be special.

  5. Just got back to the hotel from the game. The horns down thing is worn, tired and boring at this point. We live rent free in basically everyone's head in Iowa... and everywhere else. Hook em!

  6. I work for Fiserv; our HQ used to be in Milwaukee and the Bucks play in Fiserv Forum. Ton of Badgers fans but fucktons of Marquette fans. By a million miles, my least favorite co-worker (I’m not in Milwaukee) is this empty suit, worthless-ass fuckstick who tells me every chance he gets that Texas fans don’t understand basketball well enough to know what a mistake we made by β€˜running off’ ShakaFraud. Even after last years epic blowout, he was convinced that once Shaka got β€˜his guys’ in place, the glory days were just ahead. I took the entire week off so tomorrow will be first day in the office in 10 days ; my first call is at 8:00A and is led by this sorry motherfucker. I’m feeling like Bart Scott right now…

  11. Here’s a picture of their enemy, the one they think is by definition a pedophile. It’s one of my favorite pictures of me and my boys. We were at a purple pumpkin event to support my best friend who has a child with Rett Syndrome. I look at us together and I don’t feel happy, I feel utter heartache - the kind that you feel viscerally in your chest - that people can’t just see us for who we are, another normal, beautiful and valuable family.

  17. One thing that will get overlooked - Texas was very well coached in basically 40 hours to defend against Penn State. They use slip screens that Texas never sees, and Pickett is a legitimate probably top 10 player this season. Their offense the last two months was pretty flawless - slip screen setting up in and out movement to generate open 3s. Texas didn’t allow any of it minus that rough 6 or whatever minute stretch midway thorough the 2nd. They had a hand on the face of every jump shot, deflected a ton of passes and were glue. Allen held Pickett one on one - no one had done that in many many weeks. Very impressive defensively - credit to Terry and the staff. With the offense really sputtering this easily would be a loss. The D won this game. Incredible effort. We saw it against Kansas too, but they’re a little β€œeasier” to scheme against imo than the slip screen offense.

  29. Russia has escalated to making open threats from its Embassy in Slovakia. It’s honestly time to kick these assholes out of everywhere until they’re ready to act normal. β€œBratislava must clearly understand that increasingly active participation in military support for the Kyiv regime can have as a consequence an unpredictable and dangerous escalation of the conflict, for which the initiators of the decision will bear full responsibility.”

  32. People are drawn to belief in conspiracies because it makes them feel better. It explains away something that they don’t like, it excuses them from any sort of responsibility. Conspiracy theories create β€œbad guys,” characterized as puppet masters, at whom theorists can direct their anger. And because conspiracies carry no burden of proof, they are malleable and can fit any narrative one might make up. They’re for hyperemotional, discontented, irrational dipshits. When you keep this in mind, the prevalent sentiment on texags makes a lot more sense.

  34. Reading through this game thread makes me glad I stopped posting in most bball game threads, especially during the tournament. We have an inordinate amount of bitchass, chicken little posters around here who are ready to throw in the towel at the first sign of adversity, seemingly more than most fan bases. We also apparently have a bunch of dummies who believe that basketball teams have an unlimited stash of timeouts. Like Borzello referenced above Terry and the coaching staff showed their wares down the stretch. That open floor pick n roll gave Dylan and Marcus Carr a lot of room to.make magic happen down the stretch and it's literally something we pulled out of our asses cuz I haven't seen us run a pick n roll like that on the weak side all year. It totally surprised Penn St and caught them off guard.
