So, here we are. Back to the scene of either the worst or 2nd worst game of Sarkβs tenure. Iβve only seen him get out coached twice in my opinion- Arkansas 21 and Georgia this year. This game, on September 11, 2021 was just such a humiliating data point as a program that showed how inept and far we had to go. Hudson Card and Casey Thompson were the QBβs. Shudder. The O line couldnβt block anyone. The skill position talent was ok but nothing to write home about. The defense was horrific. it was the kind of team and program one should expect after that chucklefuck Charlie Strong shot all over the place for 3 years. And then, we had our new guy supposed to fix it and he was crouched on his haunches on the sideline in a catatonic shock. Not good man, not good. Fastforward 3 years and 3 months and itβs night and day different. The QB controversy didnβt ever really get going this year- but if it had weβd be fighting over 2 guys probably going to go in the first round. The offensive line is the best itβs been in 20 years here. The skill position talent will play on Sundays. The defense is really good. Sark is stealing top 5 classes. We played in the last 4 team playoffs and look poised to play in the first 12 game set. with everything that happened around the conference we control our own destiny (as I said we would after the Georgia game). I hate losing any game. But, the goal isnβt to go undefeated (ask Saban if he wants give back any of the MANY titles of his that has a loss) but to win the conference and then the national title. Those goals are right there. Just have to win. Against a team we should. But that will be pumped to run our face in it again. We owe them. Letβs make them pay. Game Week stuff here.22 points

Man, the Tom Herman years just got memory-holed in there. The Arkansas loss is easily the most deflating loss of the Sark era for me, even if it was Year One. UGA this year at least was against a fully motivated defense of actual Terminators. Sometimes Georgia will do that to you, no matter how good you are. OU last year sucked hard but we bounced back immediately. Arkansas was so mid, and we were still much, much worse at every facet of the game. I thought we were on shit coach #3. Anyway, fuck 'em, this is a bad team and a morning start, time to get scoreboard back and shit all over the end of their season.13 points

Goddamit! If we get a top-level CB and then pick up another quality DT, then just what the hell are we going to have to bitch about around here? Imma gonna have to change the site name to HappyHorns.12 points

My query for the Trump supporters who claim to be decent, ethical, and moral human beings....why do they think a Trump win unleashed a torrent of permission for people to be shitty: - Open statements by men of "your body, MY choice" to women: online, by male students to females in high schools and colleges, by advocacy groups demonstrating on college campuses. - Gleeful statements and texts from friends and family members saying things like "glad that n***** b**** lost." - Taunts to hispanic people, south asian people, and other minority groups of "your ass is gonna get deported." - More open confrontations of people who are "foreign" looking or sounding in public of "go back to your country, you don't belong here." - Open verbal statements, emails, and signs telling black people to "get ready to go back to the plantation" and numerous other shitty messages like that. - Calling any and all gay and trans people "groomers" and "pedophiles" who should be taken care of by the law and otherwise. From what I've seen, there is zero, zilch, NADA from the Trump supporter camp reacting to ANY of that with a "cut that shit out, that's not who we are, and if you stand for or say shit like that, GTFO of this movement." I'd ask "why is that," but I'm pretty sure we all know why that is the case. It is not just okay now, but a sign of strength, virtue, and dedication to the "MAGA movement" ideals, to behave that way. Cruelty and open hatred is not a side effect -- it's the point.12 points

Alright, it's taken me a couple days to reply to this, because I wanted to have time to actually sit down and articulate what I am trying to communicate properly. There are so many threads and ideas flying around so quickly, I can't possibly keep up with what is where anymore, so this is definitely covering shit that is talked about elsewhere. I'll apologize in advance for what is an especially long winded post from me, but if we can stop insulting each other for 10 minutes here I think the core of this country's problems have been easily identifiable for a very long time. As far as solutions, I honestly have none. Ana, I understand your point on multigenerational families and their lack of prevalence in America, but that is kind of a side show as a peripheral issue. The reason I asked you to expand is captured in your post above. We in fact don't agree at all that QOL has eroded, and I think that is the fundamental issue, not between me and you, but with the American middle class. QOL has increased for every American currently alive in immeasurable ways, which is something I've been screaming for the better part of two decades. What gator is describing is correct and he is one of the first people I've seen to really get it. As I said, all the threads are coming to fast and furious for me to remember, but in one of them I noted that the US middle class is living in an unreality, and that is literally what has happened. They have a mental construct based purely off of emotion, and there is no rational response to that. When the most privileged humans to ever grace the planet think they are losing, there's nothing you can say in empirical terms to reason with that, it's a total fantasy. The basic truth now is that the lowliest peon in a western democracy is more privileged than Henry VIII. Set aside the ease of modern life, things like basic sanitation, and just consider time singularly. More raw time is the one thing that can't be bought (though us wealthy ones definitely buy more time for ourselves, early boarding on planes, car rides instead of sharing, meals made by others...), just watch billionaire psychos desperately trying to unlock the fountain of youth with treatments. But guess what? As a society we did just that. Average life expectancy is 77 years in the US, literally the average American has 20 years more life on the planet than one of the most powerful and privileged persons of all time. We somehow engineered ourselves an exemption from the laws of nature, which is insane. Yet we have country that thinks it's losing? Unreality. We have fundamentally lost the ability to even know what privilege even is. Because there are millions of people in subsaharan Africa, Southeast Asia, South America who have not gotten to this point yet, they are in fact half a millennium behind in most respects. Right now. On Planet Earth. To look specifically to the change in the US vis a vis the 50's or 60s, which is getting more specifically into what you are saying and what gator is speaking about, it's the same thing just on a smaller scale. You will get no argument from me that the general populace has been force fed American Dreamβ’ propaganda for a century. They have been lied to and pandered to, had their heads filled with all sorts of dreamy nonsense. But what it even means to be middle class now is so divorced from when even my childhood took place, it's unrecognizable. And I'm just a late Gen Xer. The house I was born into would basically been considered uninhabitable these days by a middle class person. From the fixtures, to the floors, no HVAC, it would be a tear down for any buyer. It may even be torn down now, I don't know. But it was the average middle class family house then. The townhouse my mom bought and she and I moved to after my parents split was a a solid middle class house. It would be considered something the working poor rent these days. The little pocket device we all carry has condensed trillions of dollars of technology into something that the lowliest working man can video chat a relative across the globe with, the ability to be with our loved ones across time and space is literally in our hands. Rockafeller and Vanderbilt could not buy this in their wildest fantasies with all their money, much less a middle class person from 1972. Just looking at dollars and cents phones have put more accumulated wealth in peoples lives than a 1950s family would ever seen combined. Health outcomes now vs then? No comparison. These are the very things that define QOL, and we are unimaginably ahead of where we were just 30 years ago, much less 70 years ago. People can absolutely have the 1950s ideal, one income, yadda yadda, but they don't want that life. At all. The way people people even characterize middle class now is totally separate from any empirical definition and hence undefinable. It's raw unadulterated emotion, and thus can never been attained. So as I said elsewhere, there is no policy outcome that will appease these people, it's by definition impossible to. As Andrew Breibart himself noted, politics is downstream of culture. American culture has been sick for a long, long time, and in so many ways. Morally, aesthetically, socially, this has been something coming for decades, since the 80s at least. There's been small flashes of breaking out that torpor, but nothing that has sustained against the downward trajectory. This isn't something Trump did, or the Democrats, or even politicians in general. I've said this for so long now that I can only vaguely remember when I first got the sense this was happening. The American people did this to themselves. I have no answers on how it will change. I used to think maybe I did, but this election put that to bed permanently. I fear absent a worldwide depression and massive war, it will just be a gradual decline to black. So, I guess in toto, TL;DR We played ourselves. Alternatively, I ain't reading all that I'm happy for u tho or sorry that happened12 points

There will never be anything as egregious as an official coming over arguing then launching himself into Charlie Strong, then calling a penalty on our coach. That was 1 of many brain benders. Iβm the guy Guadaloopy is talking about. I shattered my ankle playing tackle football on the weekend with guys from my unit. This was in Savannah at hunter AAF. On the weekends the ER there is pretty much two EMTs and an ambulance. Dude unlaced my cleat and pulled it off (yea, super regard), it was like watching a marshmallow in a microwave. He says yep, thatβs fucked, but orthopedics at Fort Stewart doesnβt open until Monday. Sends me home in a splint with 800mg Motrin to suffer for another day and a half. X ray at ortho confirms itβs broke broke. It was a twisting injury, my cleat got planted with a guy wrapped around my leg while two other dudes spun me like a top. The ortho doc wanted to do surgery, but he got overruled by the department head. They put me in a cast and sent me home. After 3 weeks I had to get a new cast because of the swelling reduction. My leg was rattling around in the cast. I spent 2 months total in a cast then another month in a boot. I was never given any physical therapy other than a handout for stuff to do at home. Needless to say my leg was never the same. My running gait was all fucked up because my ankle didnt work right. That led to a lot of knee pain, which led to more ranger candy. I left the service and didnβt claim anything for disability. Fast forward 10 years of rolled ankles and problems and I finally have a civilian doc look at things. He says the army docs were idiots for not addressing any of the ankle stability, and recommends reconstruction. At that point my ankle would roll stepping wrong on a carpet transition. I agreed, so in 2011 I had a modified brostrum procedure to shorten the loose ligaments and give me a functional ankle. My wife and friends convinced me at that point to apply for benefits. I had felt like Guadaloopy that my injury wasnβt service related and I genuinely felt like it was disrespectful to guys that got real combat injuries. What changed was the immense anger at how shitty the service treated my injury that led to a lifetime of pain. In July of this year I had to have a bone spur removed that was growing through my Achilles. My (VA) surgeon said that itβs a common side effect to the ankle reconstruction I had done. Almost 25 years later and Iβm still dealing with problems stemming from that decision not to fix things the first time. This was my first procedure by the VA. My surgeon was a private practice guy from Seattle that came to the VA to get more surgeries under his belt. I feel lucky in that regard. Iβve dealt with the bad side of the VA (almost 2 month wait to get an MRI, a year and a half wait to get an ENT consult), but I have to say the physical therapy outfit at the VA is amazing. Thereβs a lot of underfunded stuff at the VA, but PT isnβt one of them. Itβs really not something you could privatize easily. The civilian world just doesnβt see the injuries that the VA does, and the few that do definitely donβt see them in that volume. Losing access to that kind of care is just going to drive up an already horrific suicide rate, because guys are going to suffer.10 points

Crystal Ball pick in for Texas to land Top100 defensive back Tom Loy (247 Sports) $$ " " Tom Loy: "There is a ton of optimism coming from Texas sources and there is a strong feeling that they have put themselves in a very good spot. Barring some misdirection behind the scenes, things look good for Texas right now." Jordan Scruggs: "Michigan was seen as the team to beat when the Tampa native decommitted from the Tigers, but it appears the Longhorns may have pulled ahead. And with no more visits scheduled before the Early Signing Period, Texas may have had the last word. I like UT to pull this one off, and am placing Crystal Ball in favor of the Longhorns at a confidence level of six."10 points

What the fuck are yβall talking about βslow startβ. 7/9 104 2TD in the first quarter. Slow start my ass, if thatβs slow Iβd love to see him come out slinging it. YOU see what YOU want to see facts and stats be damned. βbut but but he canβt throw the deep ballβ he had 2 30 yard TDs to Golden - one was wide open, the other was a good throw to the open space regardless of what BOW would argue - and not 1 but 2 dropped by Moore. 1 was under thrown but it still should have been caught and a big play, the other was just plain dropped and was a TD. βbut he checked down a bunchβ yeah and didnβt take sacks and made positive plays. sometimes WRs donβt get open and/or the OL doesnβt block well, so get the ball out and let Blue and Wisner get some yards and oh my word if blue makes his guy miss (like heβs really good at doing) it goes for a big play. Wait too long on those and the guy gets tackled or it gets picked, checking down quick isnβt a bad decision when the guy has 7 open yards in front of him. This post sounds like the same people who clamor that the coaches donβt call the TD play enough or the defensive coaches need to call the sack or int play.10 points

Iβm pretty damn good at running a medical practice. If you put a controller in my hand and asked me to play a video game, Iβd absolutely be a buffoon. Want me to run a social media account? Buffoon. Honestly man maybe just log out of Surly for a few days. I think it would be good for you. You have been on here just spamming nearly non-stop for days on end. I've tried to engage you on why we're all deranged betas way too deep in our feelings and get a feel for what we should really expect from the admin but that hasn't held your attention. Most of what you post is either stuff like this - basically the $9.95 fall practice reports for hardcore political partisans - or just releasing a crazy, downright weird amount of rage against political opponents in the abstract or even other posters. I'm not saying this because I'm offended or annoyed or whatever, and you can consider me owned if it makes you feel good. I'm saying it because your current mental state is pretty clearly not good for you or anyone else, and both you and the people around you in your life would almost certainly be better if you just cooled down a bit. Go watch some football, get a workout in, camp in the woods, try to get laid, whatever.9 points
