Butthead laugh...."uh...huh-huh...eh...hah-hah...hah-hah.  Hey Beavis...he said 'inferred'."

Beavis..."Oh yeah...hehehehehehehe.  Maybe he meant 'implied'."

I don't know if this Biden effect is gonna affect the pandemic but the farther we go on this unvaccinated path, the further we are from the end of the pandemic.

what should one infer from when one says it is a pandemic of the unvaccinated? only way to stop it with that thought process as +83% of +18 yr olds have been vaxxed. Was there a little hyperbole there? sure but not much. how high before it is not a pandemic of the unvaccinated?

Fart noises.

Yeah, I know I just wanted to use effect/affect, infer/imply, and farther/further in one post.  But with flexible meanings.  I get paid by the Latvians for such wordplay.

Most of my posts are actually rather terse despite the rumors to the contrary.  But I'm trying to make 95% of 'em that way in 2022.  You can all thank me at the 2022 tailgates if we make it that far as a society.

In the end there are two schools of thought in this country/message board.  Those that think "Strunk & White" is a guide for proper prose and argument framing and those that think "Strunk & White" is a nickname for their beloved Trump's cock.

Since the national response to covid really started with the NBA suspending its season, it'd be somewhat fitting if this is what made everyone say "fuck it, I guess it's over."

I need Tom Hanks to do a photo op like W with the Mission Accomplished banner

Meanwhile it won't really be over and between 2,000 and 3,000 people will continue to die each day from covid, plus an untold number who die of other things that wouldn't have killed them if hospital resources weren't all tied up by antivaxxers. But we've all just about given up trying to do anything more, probably because nothing will overcome the effect of the significant number of antivaxxers we've got.

You need to move on. The administration already is.

"Free My Ass" is just what I wanted McKayla Maroney to say.  She finally did.  And it is absolutely magnificent.  It can truly heal the nation and close our political divide.

Perhaps wait for this to be reported from someone other than this guy via immaculate vibes

*edit* just to head this off

"but he has a citation or something in his tweet"

yeah looks like he links to some document with guidelines for hospital reporting. I don't know how information is gathered for COVID reporting, broadly and generally speaking. If the hobbit above from some weird website is the only person on the planet reporting that the federal government is going to stop counting bodies because of reasons, my occam's razor interpretation would be that this thing that he's found that hospitals are no longer required to report is... not the main source of that data, or some other explanation where "hospitals are not required to report previous day covid deaths in this manner =/= the government is going to stop tracking covid deaths".

Smells like bullshit, but I guess if the editor of the World Socialist Website says it’s true, what am I to believe?

The source docs are there. This step was also suggested by some of Biden old advisors.

sweet an inferred vs implied discussion. I don't know I inferred Biden meant that. Maybe I am wrong as you're implying.

Fair point.  Message board grammar/spelling smack talk is weak and feckless.  I was just splitting hairs because when you're trying to read into what Biden is saying, you really should know the difference between what the President is implying and what you're inferring from that.  To be "both sides fair"...I think back to when Trump would speak.  The only thing more stupid than what I inferred from his comments was what he implied with them.

I don't know who this guy is either, although he does at a glance appear more credible than the other guy. He's also limited replies to his twitter thread, so it's hard to get a quick picture of what exactly the deal is with this change. But as I speculated, it does appear that this thread goes into different sources that are used to tabulate data, and refers to this one as a "secondary source" to the stats reported by states.

I have no opinion on whether the change is bad or good or politically driven or nefarious or what have you, but the tweet headline and content of your post seemed to suggest that the government no longer cares to track covid deaths because they're totally over it, which is not what is happening here.

Here's a snapshot of covid death rate for this nothingburger disease for the duration it took to reach ~850,000 dead Americans

Original article from September, but republished today to make it free for the public.  Ron Johnson needs to be run out of town on a rail.  What a fucking sleazebag.

You've just told us that you have zero fucking idea how "liberty" works.  When your exercise of your "liberty" impacts OTHERS (such as making it more likely that you'll transmit a deadly illness, and much more likely that you'll 1) use limited medical resources, meaning they won't be available for others who need them, and 2) you'll impose the costs of your decisions on others, either through government payment for your treatment OR through payment by private insurance pools of which the rest of us are a part and have to fund), then it's not fucking "freedom."  It's petulant childishness where YOU get the "freedom," but the REST OF US bear a bunch of the consequences.
Pick up a copy of "On Liberty," and come back when you have read and understand it.

Workswithseed: Apes don’t read philosophy
BrisketWitherspoon: Yes they do (Otto), they just don’t understand it.

LOL what?  Have you been in a very public place in the last 2 years - airport, airplane, train?  Don't know their individual politics but many people have been doing that for a longggg time.  People use ineffective cloth masks; slip it below their nose; pretend to be eating/drinking; or flatly ignore mask policies.
The people 'screaming and yelling' are the ones who demand everyone else to mask up.  These are the public spats that blow up on YouTube.  And it's really silly in terms of effort v. effect.
If vaccinating and properly masking yourself reduces your chance of catching it, transmitting it, and succumbing to it, that's the easiest and best thing you can do for yourself and others.  Highest returns in terms of effort vs. effect.
Once you've done that, bemoaning what other people do is absolutely the least effective.

Cloths masks are not ineffective.

Think of it this way, if you are a soldier in ww1, without a gas mask and a cloud of poison gas is coming for you , do you piss on your cloth and wrap it on your face or do you just tell everyone they should give up and die?

Piss soaked rags were not as effective as a canister mask so don’t bother?

Single cloth layer masks are not very effective but they are not zero. Adding layers helps. But in every case being locked in a room with a sick person, all personal masks without self contained air canisters, will fail given enough time. That doesn’t mean all of them are useless.

Stop spreading bullshit.

LOL.  You're really going to invoke WW1 to make a point, while simultaneously missing the entire point of the post?  Non-zero effectiveness is your bar, so you know what else has non-zero effectiveness?  Not looking in the direction of other people so you're not in the pathway of their respiration.  Just stare at the corner when you're locked in the room. (/s)

The most effective thing for *you* is something *you* are entirely in control of.  You can pick the proper mask.  You can wear it properly.  You can opt not to attend a concert.  You can maintain your distance to others.  And, yeah, sure, you can piss on your face too.

Probably good to have a bit more context for the knee jerk online public.

It’s crazy that they’re so far gone that they just don’t have the “there’s something else that explains what is happening here” tingle that every reasonable person feels looking at something like that. Over and over again.
