Well @assdanny(not machinator)...you can take those stats....shine them.... turn them sideways and stick them up your candy ass.
This team is a totally different unit than what started this year and it is those teams that have their shit together this time of year that can run the table in Omaha.

I don't think it's gonna happen, but in case the unthinkable happens and our fellow Surly fans are stuck up in Omaha wondering what to do about travel plans, tickets, and the 5 dead hookers piled into their springhill suites closet...thought I'd be of help.  4 trips to the CWS, I've only seen one loss in person by UT.  And I helped Orel Hershiser get rid of some "dead weight" before a trip to the casino.

I'm banking of winning the first two.  We'll see after that.

Lol I met Orel at Bellagio in Vegas. Dude likes to gamble.

Hansen is right on the cusp, but I think he remains under by a couple weeks.  Draft is weeks later than usual....11-13 July (usually it's about 3-4 weeks earlier than that).

Another 4 weeks to think about this, but let's ride to Omaha and back first.  But yeah, there's gonna be a buncha players on the cusp of "should I sign/should I stay?" deal.  Melendez, Kubichek, Quintanilla, Todd, Zubia, Cam Williams, et. al.  The eligibilty rules, the saturated draft with all the guys in a "bonus year" during a compressed draft (20 rounds plus a few compensatory/competitive addendums), the portal firing up one last time hopefully before it ends with Covid, etc.  We've got two for sure early round picks and then question marks abound.  Nevermind the new recruits possibly signing/not signing.

Now that we have that NIL bill I guess we have to start buying a lot of shitty student athlete supporting baseball stuff to attract players here. This could get expensive.

Too bad it happened too late for Austin Wood to cash in on the "Keep Austin Wood" shirts in 2009.

If we all buy enough Ty Madden branded ties would he stick around for another season?

I always thought the Disch was maybe the best stadium in college baseball. Looking at Miss St and Arkansas, nah, the Disch needs massive upgrade.

Outside of cow colleges (Miss State, A&M football, etc), the nationwide trend is for smaller stadiums with more frequent sell-outs - they actually drive higher attendance and better atmospheres over the course of the season.

Now in terms of modernizing the place in a bunch of ways outside of pure capacity, oh yeah there's a lot to be done there.

I think the capacity of DFF is just fine.  When it's packed and rowdy for big games, it's plenty intimidating.  You can't really do much to the outfield because of that service road between the ballpark and the tennis center.  They can't get rid 'service road' for logistics and emergency purposes.  The food truck area along LF was cool when they first deployed it, but it's not that unique anymore.  The lawn berm behind them is neat for kids, but that whole area needs to be reimagined.  The old beer patio along the RF line that I think I singularly kept in business from about 2009-12.  That needs to be repurposed and connected with the RF walkways/indoor training center area.  The existing concourse underneath the grandstand...not much you can do there other than cosmetically/technologically upgrade it.

Something really interesting that's been discussed is across the RF power alley (behind softball field home plate).  Corner of 20th Comal, that empty lot that maybe some of y'all park in...the NW quadrant of that lot.  Building out a 1-2 story modest facility (maybe 5k ft.2) to match the style of DFF exterior/new player development center.  A small concession area, small souvenir shop that folks walking to/from the game from street parking/north lots would pass by (exterior facade).  Inside could also be a small prep kitchen for vendors, player academic/study are for both baseball and softball.   Concession/souvenir shop would have the corner orientation to open up windows on gamedays (both baseball and softball).  And an elevator bank inside going up to the roof, where a series of "bleacher" or chairback seats would be elevated above the building substantially (no UH engineers on the project).  It would be similar to the Wrigley Rooftop seats across Waveland and Sheffield Avenues.  A number of seats would be set aside for single game purchase (nobody will want to sit in that heat for a May day game against a mediocre opponent), and then another area up there would be set aside for "hosted event" seating, bring 10-50 clients/friends/etc. and have your own bar/food area up top.  Tall tables and another bar area could also be setup for big games with lotsa advanced ticket sales like the RF rooftop deck at Fenway Park.  The whole premise would be considered DFF premises for TABC purposes.  Once up there, if you are ticketed for that rooftop area, you go one way to your seats.  Other folks can walk with food/drink from downstairs across an elevated pedestrian walkway over Comal Street that links up with the RF walkway between the bullpen and the indoor training facility for seating along the 1b/LF line.  If done correctly, the sightlines from the NW corner of that intersection are pretty damn good.  Beats sitting in overflow bleachers way down the left-field line.  People would buy tickets out of the uniqueness of it at first, but you'd have to book events up there at a premium to make the finances work.  It wouldn't really function as overflow seating for the handful of sellouts we get per year, but it would cover its nut if---just like Wrigley---people chose to sit out there over the LF/RF line seating because they could stand and socialize and have a full bar behind them.  Anyway, I'm not describing it well, but it sounds interesting-though maybe not financially viable.  Then again, that dirt field ain't doing much right now.

I saw this topic come up in the other thread, and I recognize the university is doing a good job with the land locked area that is Austin.

The one thing your AD mentioned was bringing in temporary bleachers if needed, well the SR would of been a good time to do that, and if you are willing to sacrifice the food trucks for the series, that is the perfect area to throw up some temporary bleachers from 3b to the lf foul poul.

That's also the first place, that would be the easiest to expand seating and add more premium seating (club level or suites). But going all the way down the LF line would look odd if you didn't balance it on the RF line.. and looks like there is a lot more going on over there.

Concerning the outfield, since it's just a minor service road, it appears you could likely move it closer to the tennis facility and then add some LF seating if a permanent solution was needed.  RF... no way with Comal there.

In the end it comes down to support year round, not just 2-3 series a year. A problem even the largest stadiums.

This. We are vastly different from that first game of the season, as is Miss St. It will be interesting to see how it plays out and I feel like we will be able to exorcise that demon on Sunday. 🤘🏼🤬🤘🏼

the service road to the garage could easily be moved closer to the tennis courts to make way for stands in the outfield.  they'd have to move the scoreboard to right field(or behind the bleachers and reduce the batters eye/monster but it could be done. I'd like to have some outfield bleachers.

you could actually build a berm in left if you wanted to as well.

100% agree here. I’m thinking mostly architectural elements that make the place look cool. If any capacity would be added, I think a premium club that faces the field would be rad. May not be a popular opinion, I think it would look badass.

Witt, Hansen, Kubichek, Gordon, some freshman we know nothing about

If Joshua Stewart makes it to campus I would be shocked if he isn't a starter. Every Longhorn fan needs to start saying some prayers that he makes it to campus.

That kid is a stud and maybe the best pitcher that could potentially make it to campus in about a decade.

Well, that graphic isn’t too confidence-inspiring

Meh, that .500 all time record means we're better against Vanderbilt in baseball than football. Doesn't mean squat with that few games.

But we definitely need about 5 home-and-homes with Vanderbilt football.

We had the temporary bleachers in the 2018 Super. I think it was just too soon after returning back to capacity to use them this year.

Exactly. There is no reason to add seats that are not sold out for every game. Whether is a standard seat or a club / premium seat.

This is what people get mad about at our games with the new stadium, if you don't have a season ticket (all physical seats are sold out with a 10 year payment). So if you don't have a seat, you have to sit in the berm or stand up.

I really want to go to a game at your new stadium someday.  Y'all do baseball atmosphere well there.  I've been to Swayze Field, but not State.  Maybe we'll get lucky and get a home-and-home someday soon.  Pierce certainly likes to schedule aggressively and likes southern programs.  It took a couple years but CDC has given him almost free reign to pick out his non-conf. opponents, even 2-game midweek series with more "power conference" type teams.

FWiW-drove by the Disch before a lunch meeting and team was doing a live game simulation.  Separate dugouts/uniforms, the whole bit.  Obviously teams do this midweek all the time, but watched them for a couple minutes and there was a noticeable energy level to them.  And Phil Collins blaring on the PA.  Took me a second to make out the song but I thought, "I get why they'd play simulated crowd noise, but why 'In the Air Tonight'?"  I'd like to think "Take me Home (to Omaha)" was coming on next.

I believe they leave for Nebraska tomorrow midday.  This team is gonna wreck a bitch.

All depends on if there's a desire to play and can make the schedule work. We have played in Houston, Frisco, and Arlington tournaments 3of the last 4 years. Last year we played Oregon state as our big team to start the second weekend of the year. Last year we played Tech down in Biloxi for 2 midweek games, after playing them in Frisco in 19. I don't think we are playing in any tournaments next season but believe ya'll are.

I don't think tech wants to play us again anytime soon though after going I think 5-0 against them over 3 years.

Who has a shot a starting next year? I’m also not sure if Pete will be 21 by the time the draft comes.

Just something I saw last week and I can't remember which one did it, but one of the respectable groups that writes about the MLB prospects and draft had Hansen around 450 out of the top 500 picks. He is draft eligible. Kennedy was also in the 400's. Melendez, Stevens, Williams, and Antico were not on the list, fwiw.

Dang, I was hoping Pete wouldn’t be eligible. Pierce does a good job at developing so I wonder if a guy like Kennedy would stay for next year to maybe boost his stock.

Your post made me curious about this, so I looked it up.  According to Winsipedia, Texas is 3-8-1 all time against the Commodores.  So, yeah, at a minimum a 5 game series with Vandy is needed.
