They are still trying to push the completely bullshit narrative that he won in 2012 from illegal voters and that he was born outside of the US.  His followers will jump all over it, as they always do.

I will never understand why people think being born outside the US matters.

Its really very, very intentional.  The 30-40% that lap up the dog shit that spews from his mouth will honestly believe DACA has become about stopping illegals at the border.

He's basically talking about it as if it's this broad running amnesty bill that is in effect to any person currently arriving in the US. Even if DACA applied to illegals arriving in the US today, which it does NOT, it would still only apply to children. There are mobs of children arriving at the border to take advantage? Or adults are trying to come in so their kids get the benefit of DACA but the kids are essentially orphaned when their parents get deported?

God, guns and deportation.

He’s saying the border will be guarded by troops until the wall as built. At least we know where that money is going.

Go through M!

Posse Comitatus should prevent this from happening.

So, there's not a thread about Facebook at the new place, but there probably should be.

At the in-laws on Easter.  As a refresher, they have no worries on this Earth.  FIL makes close to 7 digits per year, has no debt, has his health.  All his kids have graduated from college, all are settled.  At this stage of his life, he truly is living the dream.   However, every day is a struggle for both he and MIL, since Fox and Facebook keep up the Daily Terror alerts and various wars on whatever.  It truly is amazing.

Tying all this together; MIL and wife talked for about an hour off to themselves.  The highlights:

-Trump did get all the money for the wall in the omnibus, but it was called defense spending, so the wall is getting built starting "tomorrow".

-Russia has had nothing to do with Facebook, or Twitter, or Trump. It's well known.  Our deep state is lying to the media about Russia.

-Trump is so successful he could fund the wall himself

-There was no affair with a porn star.  She was paid off by George Soros to lie.

-George Soros paid for Black Lives Matter protestors, along with those high school punks.

There's more, but jeez.  I wonder if there is any hope for my in-laws.

We were commiserating about this on the old board a couple weeks ago. It's truly sad what has become of our once reasonable parents. They've been brainwashed by the 24/7 fearmongering. I still blame the discontinuation of the "fairness doctrine" in the 1980s that lead to the rise of Rush Limbaugh and his other radio and television imitators, which include Fox News.

The only way to get through to these types is to take Trump, Russia, and current events out of the conversation entirely.

Make it more of a philosophical dialogue about what America should be or what they want America to be.

Try to steer the conversation to fundamental values and get them to start thinking critically about the rights of others like immigrants or Muslims.  Challenge their positions when necessary with questions.

It’s a tough cookie to crack but it’s possible to make progress.  You have to be the driver of the dialogue but make an effort to do more listening than talking and be more empathetic to their postions than opposed.

At least that’s what I’ve found works best.

You can’t convince these people they’re wrong but you can get them to understand and identify with other perspectives.  It take a lot of patience though.

My community voted 80% for Trump and they watch Fox News all day so I’m somewhat aware of the problem.

The demise of the fairness doctrine and the opening of ownership of media to foreign/corporate ownership has really done a number on the political discourse.

Yeah, I'm not going to put any effort into that.  Why should I?  They're the ones who suck.

Can someone help me? I have tried to find the original source of this "USPS loses money on every Amazon package", and have only found summaries that provide a very top level skim of the details behind the claim. Based on that small amount of info available in those summaries and how they're presented, it would appear the math goes like this:

(Total USPS annual losses / Total number of Amazon packages delivered by USPS) = Amount USPS loses per Amazon package

It's hard to even begin to explain how idiotic that math is...which makes it no surprise DJT has jumped all over it and waved it around as a beacon of truth.

I’ve given up on them. They deserve mock and scorn. The time to reason with them is over. They’ve made their voices heard loud and clear, now it’s time to send them back to their nursing homes and quiet them.

There is no math because it's a lie. He's just mad at WaPo.

Do these fucking morons realize it doesn’t matter if he was born elsewhere?  His mom was an American. Ted Cruz was born in Canada, McCain in Panama.

Oh wait, they don’t care.

Another day, another embarrassing failure for the GOP complicit silent bystanders.

This is the biggest failure of the media.  They should be making the GOP own all of Trump’s bullshit.  Instead of “President Trump”, they should be saying “Republican President Trump”.   The budget should be called “the Republican budget” etc.

Surely you don't think Trump actually did any math do you? Or that he can even do math?

The USPS is losing money on every package or letter sent by any individual or business. The USPS is nothing more than a tax payer funded subsidy. Bezos is merely taking advantage of that subsidy, just like I do every time I mail an xmas card.

If not the media, you'd think at least the Democrats would be doing this. I think that type of messaging could be the difference between taking the house and motherfuckin storming the house.

Either way, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, and various other less-important Congresscritter sycophants need to be relentlessly labeled as collaborators and apologists to the point that the Trumpstink will never wash off of them, ever. Paul Ryan needs to be voted out of Congress like a hooker getting shuffled out of Trump's hotel room with a fistful of sweaty money. And as Ryan picks up his balled-up pink lace panties off the floor and begins his walk of shame back to Wisconsin, he will feel the humiliation and shame that only someone that has been fucked by Trump can feel.

As if the targets of such rhetoric are watching networks that would do this.

If the Dems raised holy hell, they would be everything the GOP wants them to be, a bunch of crybaby libcucks.  It would be a self fulfilling prophecy.

The Dems are playing it right watching the GOP hang themselves in broad daylight.

Of course I don't think Trump can do math, and I wouldn't expect him to.

But I would (wrongly, I suppose) expect people who allegedly have a finance background and write for financial publications would be able to analyze USPS losses vis a vis Amazon business beyond the capabilities of a first grader. It's an astonishingly stupid calculation.

get them to start thinking critically

This in itself is a herculean task and is going to run counter to massive amounts of psychological conditioning on how to think (and not think) by Fox News. BTW, opposition to critical thinking is routinely listed as the number one warning sign someone is in a cult.

Agree.  For as much flak as he often rightly (and sometimes they even go overboard) gets about decorum and political correctness type gaffes, he somehow doesn’t get lambasted nearly enough for just being full of shit about everything.

There is never any kernel of truth or any hidden strategy to unpack.  He just knows nothing, and he lies constantly, usually even choosing the most incorrect lie possible.

Eventually, someone is going to lose their temper and call him on it, and I'm not sure how they haven't already. Could be a reporter who doesn't care about losing his WH credentials. He will have his "You're a Liar" moment sooner or later.

1000 brown-skinned people from Central America are marching north, and they're going to take over the US.

They're actually "sub-Mexicans" from Central America. And they're all MS-13 members who will be given immediate amnesty and welfare checks according to the immigration laws that are currently on the books.
